I'm a Paula Abdul fan, but I honestly had no idea that she could sing live and it still sound like the CD, I think I assumed she had a bit more 'help' than she actually did! This performance was perfect and proves she's not just a dancer/studio singer, but a live performer!
You do injustice to a highly talented artist. Carol Channing, Marilyn Monroe, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong; all famous for their unique singing styles which did not include much range. Would you also write them off as merely decent singers?!?
I am so mad that I never got to see her live, and I pray that Paula does a tour date in New York sometime soon! She has to bring this saxophone player with her, though! ☺️
This live version is fabulous with Kenny G delivering such a beautiful intro on the saxophone. Music was great in those old times when they gave more opportunity for saxophone to blend with pop music specially in the live concerts.
With her second album SPELLBOUND Paula tried to show ever of her critics that she is able to do much more than dance, choreograph and perform in perfection. Unfortunately her third album HEAD OF HEELS, which was the most ambitious, flopped...
I don't think her third album was that ambitious at all. It seemed kind of thrown together and dated. I will say her vocals were much more improved. I just wish she would've taken the time to make a really good album and had used some new producers and background singers

Saw her at the Pontiac Silverdome Detroit this tour she was incredible.
