They played this song all the time on the radio. Summer of 84. Detroit. Love this song, it brings back so many memories, so many good times.
Hear this at their concert in 84 still one of my favorits
Thank you so much for posting this video. This has always been such an incredible song!
wow
This is one of my favourite rock songs of the 80s...that instrumental break in the middle is epic!
What a great band. Mickey Thomas has a gorgeous. Voice🐏🐖🪻🪨🌹🌺💐
Great song! Great pop/rock band.🔥🌟✨😃👍
Imagine your backup singer is Grace Slick, WOW. They've been at this since the 60s.
Their Best Song by far!!!
great song!!
Great rock band from the 80s!⭐️😃👍🔥🔥
Sensacional 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
GREAT MICKEY THOMAS!😊
Sensacional demais 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Was hoping something like this would pop up.
Ahh the voice ....
I just wish this not have been re recorded .. and it's a bit higher in the key .. just a little ... would love to have heard them live 😊
Oh yes there is
Grace looks like she don't wanna be there
That's what I was going to say. Standing there with her hands in her pockets 🙄 pissing me off! She was an alcoholic back then, always some drama bs with her. Great voice tho. Just wish she would have sobered up BEFORE they decided to move on without her. Things happen for a reason tho. Shows his good character to go on like nothing is wrong while she is basically staring at him with her hands in her pockets during a performance. And nailing it yet again too! Much respect! ✌️
I'm not sure what's going on with her. Something is up. I remember reading in her biography that there was some internal friction at this time. The band was being sued to change the name to Starship and in early 1985 they did change the name. She was sober during the 80s.
She was a drama queen back then , probably didn’t get her way. Mickey was great as usually.
This was a weird time for the band. Paul Kanter left the group and would soon sue the rest of the band. The end result was Paul (who by the way shared a child with Grace) got a settlement that the group paid $ to Paul and agreed to drop Jefferson from the Name. The bands' ownership was split 49% to the manager and 51% to Grace. Plus, they had swapped out bass, keyboards, and guitarist players as well. Grace and Mickey were really the only thing left of Jefferson Starship once Paul ditched. Not to dunk on Grace (because is incredibly talented) she never seemed to sing lead vocals on any of their hits once they got into the 70's. Not sure why other than her issue with alcohol.
Wow. This is rare! The Starship didn’t do too many tv shows besides Fridays and American Bandstand. Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick are both great lead singers. Grace retired when she was around 55. Mickey is still touring today in his 70s and still has his great voice. The guitarist is fantastic also. Wonder if he still plays or produces other artists. ⭐️😃👍🔥🔥
@@roystonmason9125Is the 50 in reference to the retirement of Grace Slick? She turned 50 in October 1989. She is, as of her October 2023 birthday, 84 years old. Mickey Thomas is in his 70s and still active in the band. A 1960s band as Jefferson Airplane, refreshed during the 1970s as Jefferson Starship, and refreshed during the 1980s as Starship. They were a great rocking band through the ages, but I liked their 1980s era the best and Mickey Thomas is still playing mostly off the hits of that era. It would be interesting how Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick would sound together in performances currently.
@@roystonmason9125 Well, I agree that Mickey does not sound as he did in his heyday, but that is harsh for an elderly man in his 70s performing on stage at his age.
@@roystonmason9125your a harsh MF what is your contribution to the world ? Nothing , I thought so
She doesn't buy my story!
Lip sync action live it
This song is so Epic! I was around when it came out in the summer of 1984 ! This one is by far the best one! Takes Me to My youthful times & it still does !
