  • Beauty. Elegance. Grace.
    These aren’t the words you’d associate with a dinosaur, and certainly one that could grow to 9.5m and even beyond!
    Yet that is what I always associate the hadrosaur bauplan with, and this beautiful Lambeosaurus from PNSO is a delightful, beautiful embodiment of what I love about it.

    Thank you for sharing your childhood story, it made this review very heartwarming. Would love to hear more stories about any of your personal connections to your models/figures if you ever review them in the future.

      Thank you Jiggy for actually watching so far!
      I do add personal touches rom time to time because collecting is really a passion project, and it's not for me to present purely an objective blow by blow of features and colours without enthusing and relating to them too.
      That's something I hope people can make a part of their collecting experience, forming really positive connections with their models and making them more than static decorative objects that look great on the shelf and nothing more. I hope you are enjoying your own collection in your own way too!🙂

    Great review, I love the dedication and backround knowledge you get for these videos.
    Btw the 15 meters estimated belong to a dinosaur that was separated from the genus Lambeosaurus and that's magnapaulia. (15 meters is still oversized tho, more like 13, give or take a bit)

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks good call! I should have been more precise. Yes the 15m specimen was reassigned to Magnapaulia in 2012. I think there's a tendency to sensationalize sizes when first announced; everyone wants to have discovered the new biggest. I've had to resign myself to the inevitable downsizing down the road, such as with Dreadnoughtus, Leedsicthys and Predator X. Still pretty damn impressive!

    I just received this model in the mail today after a long time of thinking about buying it. I can't believe how incredible she is in hand

    • @DinosDragons

      _Exactly right!_ I mean, there are a few nitpicks here and there when it comes to PNSO, but there really is no denying that when you hold one of their models in hand, there is something really special about it that you don't just get with many other figures. I hope the paint application was satisfactory. Usually if you delay too long they tend to fall off a bit.
      Are you excited about the Olorotitan? 😁

      Thanks Richard it really is! I keep overusing the word "elegant" when I think of the hadrosaur bauplan, and it's been really fascinating seeing how the visualization of these animals have developed over time. This and the Corythosaurus were instant must-haves for me, even more so than the Spinosaurus!

    Wow, these PNSO dinos are going to get me in trouble. At least they're not real expensive

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +2

      Exactly! I am very selective of what I buy due to lack of space and a trust fund, but the PNSOs have hit it so well for me that I find each one meeting all my criteria. I think a big part is due to the fact that PNSO hits it for _both_ sculpt _and_ paintjob, while most companies get the sculpt part, but always do a sloppy on the paintjob.
      Luckily most of them are not expensive especially if you buy them early!

    Great review! This is another superb piece from PNSO. And yes, a pet peeve of mine is overly large scales on dinosaur figures. Nice to see PNSO has it right on this example.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +1

      PNSO really seems to be wired tight! Actually the other companies, for example if you've seen Safari's Gryposaurus, have their sculpting work really down too, but I feel they let themselves down because of their paintjob. When you have all the factors in confluence, everything is elevated.
      Of course some companies probably do that knowingly, such as Papo, favouring aesthetics and coolness, which does have its own appeal. For example my favourite Allosaurus is still the Papo, inaccurate as it is. 🙂 I still haven't found one I like better!

    Lambeosaurus is one of my favorite Hadrosaurs AKA Duck Billed Dinosaurs. It & the other we see Anatotitan AKA Edmontosaurus. “Such as what we see from the clip of Walking with Dinosaurs.” Okay, my other favorites with or with out crests are Parasaurolophus, Hypacrosaurus, Hadrosaurus, Gryptosaurus, Brachylophus, Prosaurolophus & Saurolophus. Well, that’s all the favorite Hadrosaurus I can say along with Lambeosaurus & one of the 2 species of Edmontosaurus. Anatotitan is a Subspecies of Edmontosaurus. Anyway, as for this new PNSO Figure, its impressive. I hope Safari LTD might someday make their own Lambeo.

      You actually name more crestless ones than most people can, so you're a serious hadrosaur admirer. Check out magnapaulia too!
      Interestingly, before these PNSO hadrosaurs, my absolute favourite was the crestless Gryposaurus by Safari. The fineness of that model is beyond contestation.
      I'm really rooting for Safari. They introduced me to my very first authentic dinosaur models with their Carnegie Collection collaboration (in fact in my latest Corythosaurus review you can see I still have them!). I believe in terms of scupt they are there, but they are perhaps limited by the quality of their finished paintwork to shine they way they deserve. You have probably seen the disappointing release images their upcoming Spinosaurus.

      You will definitel not regret it! In fact this is the first time I've actually felt the urge to get all of them. They were just too beautiful to ignore! The hadrosaur form is to me one of the most beautiful and underappreciated dinosaur bauplans. Just wait till you have them both in hand!

      Aamir yikes how could I have forgotten it! Except for the reticulated pattern, the okapi would have been a very fair comparison on all the other features. It's also very closely related to the giraffe, and would probably be feeding more at the same level as the Lambeosaurus. Great call!

    I'm surprised at how gracile it is. I always think of Edmontosaurus when I think of hadrosaurs, which was pretty chunky in comparison.
    Love the look at your childhood book! For me, Wayne Barlow's "An Alphabet of Dinosaurs" was my fave.

    • @DinosDragons

      That's the beauty of the hardosaur bauplan. When I look at the modern reconstructions, I can hardly believe they're of a real animal, with the lithe forelimbs seemingly impossible, and something more like the Iguanodontid proportion more plausible. Still, hadrosaurs are more advanced, and the evolution to achieve the greatest biomechnical efficiency took many millennia!

    hi. i have a question, does this figure have brittle or tough plastic?

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure what you mean. The plastic is hard to the touch and doesn't give much unless with force, although it will warp. I have dropped a few of these figures with no damage, but that was from a short height. I have seen picture of other collectors who dropped theirs and pieces broke off.
