Major Harris was injured on the third play of the game and WVU couldn't run their option left. ND knew it and that was a killer. But even so ND dominated the game at the line of scrimmage and used a plethora of backs to easily take the national title.

+bnegs521 WVU fan here....I don't think The injury made a lot of difference. This Irish team was stacked. rocket, ricky waters, zorich , stonebreaker, tony brooks, culver, Johnson, todd light .....scary

It made a difference. Would it have changed the outcome? No. But the man couldn't play up to his abilities and he was the offense of WVU.

I remember this game vividly. I was a huge Major Harris mark, having watched 3-4 games West Virginia played in 1988 as a kid. When they couldn't cash that INT in to anything, I knew the game was over. I didn't even hate Notre Dame, I was just sad for the Mountaineers.

Anyone doubt that Randall hates Notre Dame? We get it.....we just don't care

Notre Dame favorite play to get a first down is throw the ball forward like a fumble and then jump on the ball.
