  • Marty Friedman plays not guitar, Marty plays soul strings...

Marty must be the only guitarist in the world that plays a soulful clean "not showing off" solo in a heavy metal concert and the audience goes wild. Pure example of what the power of beautiful music can do, and also an answer to all those who speak down on metalheads for their tastes...

It's interesting that even though 90s saw the decline of metal in mainstream music because of grunge and all, Megadeth still went on to reach their peak commercially and creatively. IMO.

This is the perfect example of how improvising slow and well thought out melodies (especially if you use lots of bends) on the guitar, get a better reaction than playing fast, crazy licks all the time. But there’s always a good time to play fast so don’t stop learning how to play fast people, just know that playing slow is just as important.
