Actually, I am a girl scout, and I can tell you that selling cookies is not child labor and is actually quite fun. It helped me learn people-skills, how to maintain money and also helped me stop being shy around people. I actually sold so much cookies last year that my troop leader bought me a Nintendo 3DS, a cool bike, a PlayStation Vita, and yes, I did earn a "lame patch" (as you seem to call it) as well. So it's not at all child labor, it's fun.
Being in 2nd place for cookies last year I can tell you all its fun and an amazing experience you start in kindergarten and can sell up to your senior year of high school. I have been lucky enough to know Mary for a couple years and even though I sold over 3,000 boxes she took more time and with her adorable smile. its girls like her that make our organization keep growing :)
You go girl! I'm a top seller too, I've sold 2000 boxes each year for 3 years and this year my goal is 3000 and I'm super excited! But I gotta say that she didnt just sell at cookie booths... Its almost impossible to sell all those cookies just at a booth by experience. But I wish her luck and to all the girls that are partisipating in the 2016 cookie sale!
$20,000 in sales and she gets an IPad? Sounds really fair.
***** No, It's just a way to bypass the child labor laws.
Don't Usually Comment I'm not trying to be rude I myself am a Girl Scout and u can buy about 1000 iPads with 20000
@@NoOneHere2Day It is not child labor. It's literally a choice, you can sign up if you WANT. It's not like their slaves. And also it's really fun, it helps with people skills and to not be shy (coming from a past scout)
Thats not all she got lmao she got credit for a future trip somwhere, thats why a lot of girls really try hard selling their cookies. They get oportunities to travel to places around the world.
@@nadia-yx6re seeing a shy child be able to speak to costumers and come out of their shell thank to their girl scout sisters is something really wholesome. I think that is the biggest price they get.
“4 each or 5 for 20”. Lol. I like your style.
that is smart
Great job Mary!!! CONGRATULATIONS!
@verbaledge I'm a girl scout and none of my girl scout friends or myself are forced to sell or be in girl scouts. We want to be. It's actuay really fun!! :)
Had massive diarrhea from girl scout cookies once, I think it was the thin mints but i cant be sure. It was literally 24 hours on the toilet bowl. My farts smelled like mint for a week. Thank you girl scouts
***** I've moved on to the samoas, they also give me the shits
I'm a girl scout and I enjoy it. My parents would never force me to do it. I enjoy selling.
WELL DONE RON LIEBER , now encourage the Boyscouts to create a powerhouse as well.
In the 60s in Va. as a Boy Scout, I had to drag a wagon full of light bulbs around town trying to sell them.
Talk about a pity sale!
Let's see how she does selling something nobody wants, just for the donation.
It's character building!
Hold up $4 for 1 box and $5 for 20 boxes
Y'all don't sell them cookies the cookies sell themselves 😁🤘🏿✌🏿
I love the thinking face and calculation when she considers the girls that don't work hard enough to sell cookies.
I love her spirit..😁😢😁😭..she's my hero..
that girl is upping the price believe she going everywhere
WELL DONE
my favorites are tagalongs,Do si dos, and trefoils!
Yup. My thoughts exactly
Yes, I did, and that's awesome! :)
I thought this was about the girl who sold 60 boxes.
I live in Canada, and I've never eaten Thin Mint Cookies. Have I truly lived life?
Girl u know
What this girl way truthful on yt she famous
Because she told truth she sold more than 23,000
Cookies
I'm a girl scout, but i never sold very many cookies. But i nearly flipped my laptop when she went up to the woman in the beginning. The number-one rule of cookie-booths is that you can't go up to people and ask them to buy cookies!
It depends on where you sell. Some stores (such as many Bashas') don't want you to approach the customers. But others don't mind at all as long as you're not causing problems.
And that's why there isn't a video of YOU selling cookies. Sometimes you've gotta bend the rules.
We lost our twinkies, you still have yours,
wow, that how a child learns real self esteem and self worth, you get to measure your worth by how many cookies you sell and you learn to sell sell sell, yep that's the american spirit right there, great job Mamma.
I am a gril scout to.
***** Bruh my little sister wrote that and next time you should think about things before you reply to someone's comment. By the way I know my English language so you better keep your smart comments to yourself.
Well why don't you just mind your own business go criticize others peoples comments because from the looks of it that's all you do.
girl scouts: its so hard to sell cookies
also girl scouts: I get to stuff my face with thin mints
Don't fall for it! it's the Loch Ness Monster wanting $3.50
so are they made from real girl scouts?
28 hours per week?!??!? That's 4 hours per day, with no days off. Are child services aware of this situation?
Yeah! :)
Girld you will be one good bussinesswomen soon. And please dont be those corupted bussiness organisation Big gun when you grow up.
@XavianBrother it's $4 for 1 box and $20 for 5. haha :)
Liked the video till the 'donate for soldiers overseas' boxes popped up. Like Yeah come donate to overseas soldiers who while I sell these cookies are currently killing innocent kids men and women in the streets of Afghanistan and Iraq. Made me want to throw up. Ofc the child is innocent and isn't much aware of what's going on in the real world so I don't blame her totally either.
Judy
Wait I am joining girl scouts
or maybe they do, im uncertain...just seems weird to me
Weird but you are welcome
they didn't say nintendo "3ds" >:D
hi how can I be in girl scouts
Tell your mom and/or dad
I am not from america.. So this question @american people...why do girls sell cookies... Is it some kind of a school project or an american tradition??
Girl Scouts is an organization girls can join. They can join a troop (with other girls their age) and they complete badges and other awards (similar to Boy Scouts, if you know about them). Typically during the winter, troops will purchase boxes of the different cookies to sell. Depending on the region and price of cookies there, the troop gets a certain percentage of the profit, this money allows the troop to do activities, or buy uniforms. This helps girls learn social and business skills, and to a certain extent, joining Girl Scouts is kind of an American tradition, it was founded in 1912.
Isn't selling through young girls tantamount to child labor? This is subverting laww
can i order cookies online from Miss Ruiz?
All she gets is an Ipad😑... and who gets the rest of all that money 💰😒
Jaleel Right
Jaleel All of the money from selling cookies gots to the troop
um her troop? that's the point selling cookies supports the organisation and means girls can go on camp ect
I know how to sell myself
Girl scout cookies are amazing--- they may as well make them out of trash dump dirt and garbage!
Yepp. Lol :)
i am a girl scout and she is braking the rules she dosent have a parent till u are a cadet
when she is going around her neibor hood she is alone that is also not safe i am just trying to help her be safe
ok fine
@@heathernath2631 She did not go alone, her mom was with her and the reporter. Just walking behind the camera
I want to watch the boys scout of America fight with the boys scout of isis
Lol
well done but atthe end to me she was kinda bragging aaalott,
I was Eatting them up in Iraq
She sells cookies because she's a cute little girlscout selling cookies and people know what it's all about. Selling cookies as a girl-scout is not going to help her sell any other type of thing, This is child labor and she isn't getting paid for it, she can learn all these lessons and get paid too.
Siegmeyer I am a girl scout, and I can say that it is actually VERY fun and we get to go on trips with the money, so we do get something out of it.
Tom's back. Afters, girls.
Mesh shed' after'.
After that, call it 'Gel'. The only leg u C will be your Legacy!
Now is good. Bus stop!
Right now, tyvm
