I'm a beekeeper and we also use colours for our queens. (all beekeepers world wide use the same colours). Years ending in 1=White , 2=Yellow, 3=Red, 4=Green, 5=Blue, then repeat for years ending in 5,6,7,8,9,0, Eg queen bees hatched in 2023 will be marked red. Its easier to remember using the Mnemonic "Will You Raise Good Bees".
