Leon Paul used to be my favorite blademaker. Sadly, I bought a brand new epee from them last year and the wiring in the tip was busted. I don't know what happened to their standards.
Actually you can tighten the pommel nut too much. I found that out when I cracked the tang of an epee blade. So now I am not as enthusiastic about it. But I do make a habit of tightening the nut on a regular basis. If you are cleaning your tips, it doesn't take but a few seconds to tighten the nut. Same for the socket screws.
@@yamdrew , thank you , I will keep that in mind. But as for the broken tang, I'm going to look smug and put that down to impurities in the blade steel causing a weak spot. Only happened to me once.

Using two piece wedge style lock washers work wonders at keeping the pommel tight and from becoming loose.
