I've lived in Inwood for many years, back when there was an Irish bar on every corner, and always heard of this famous beer run. Glad to see it come to life like this, especially while the guys are still with us. Bravo!
Watched this last night. I thought it was going to be a full on funny comedy but it took lots of serious dark turns. I loved it and got teary a handful of times. Great story. Thanks Chickie!!
This man is my new idol. ❤ Everyone should have a mate like him, and he inspires me to be a better friend to everyone dear to me. Just so happens that I live in Saigon, Vietnam. 🇻🇳 Peace between former foes. ✌ ☮
Chickie: "I was a staunch supporter of the war (Vietnam), but when I got there (Vietnam) I saw things that just weren't right ... and it was just false, totally false." Reporter: "Fair to say you came home with a different view of the war?" Chickie: "Yah, the TRUTH."

@@dickmelsonlupot7697 We helped bring our boys back. What did you do? The 1st protest I went to was 20 and the last 100,000. I saw the cover of the movie, and just skipped, never giving it another thought. Until, youtube showed me a couple of shorts, which peaked my interest. After some research, I found out it was a true story and this interview blew my mind! This guy is a legend! I'm definitely going to watch this movie ASAP!!!
I was born in Saigon and came here when I was 6. My grandfather fought in the war. My father grew up in it. They things they told me that they see you’ll never hear or see it anywhere in any documentaries or in history books about the war. It’s far far more brutal. Think of the “my lai” massacre
On my way over to Nam, another 2LT and I were sitting with this Captain who carried a golf club. I think he was either going back after RnR or for a second tour. When we got off the plane in the Philippines he told us we were going on a beer run. So the three of us took a taxi off base bought a case of beer and convinced the flight attendant that it was OK. We had a great time sharing the beer with the guys in the plane. What were the going to do to us? Send us to Vietnam? God bless the guys who did this beer run in the movie. We learned little things meant a great deal to the troops.
IMO Peter Farrelly's one-of-the-greatest-finishers/closers-we've ever seen/had in Hollywood. The superhero of Will. That's why I'm always pulling, cheering-hard ...for big Farrelly-Bros-numbers.
This. Is a good movie. Heartwarming and intense, with a touch of humor. Chickie was naive but had a heart of gold. He was fearless! ..but scared. He did amazing, incredible, stupid things, but oh, what a friend.. His friends are what mattered. 🍻 Cheers to Chickie and his friends.
My hair and beard are white like Chickie's is now too. I have been on some amazing beer runs in my life including skiing down the back side of a ski resort at night under a full moon after illegally turning on the chair lift, while on mushrooms. But nothing I did compares to Chickie's adventure. Salute!
My hero. We may have as I discussed with Chicky in Saigon in 68 crossed paths that day on TET. Pure chaos. This epic adventure took sheer balls to even try nonetheless pull off. Bravo.
Outstanding doesn't cover this story!! If there were more people in the world like Chickie, it would definitely be a better place!! God bless him & those like him!!🙏👍🇺🇸
Saw a pic of my commander in Vietnam in 93 my first year in the Army. He had a mini beer fridge the whole time he was in Nam. Some 2 star took his fridge away once. My commander pulled a gun on the General and got his beer fridge back. I saw the counseling statement on the event.
I have no idea why critics trashed this movie?? One of the best movies ive seen in 10 years! The best *war movie* since.. dont even remember another movie who lets you feel the actual impact of a war like this..
saw the movie..I think it was very touching in many aspects. BTW..don't you guys think that now that Chickie is old, he looks like a version of Christopher Walken?
Just watched the movie. Fantastic! By the title, I expected a light hearted romp. It was so much more. As pertinent a war story as any other film. And of course it has to be true. It's too dumb and impossible a tale for someone to pitch. Dude is a hero! Glad his story was told
PBR? Gesh. Wish he'd run across me. Warm Carling Black Label is what we got during stand downs. A PBR, even warm, would've done wonders for my morale. Still have PBR in my garage refrigerator for after outside work. I think this man Chuckie, is gold. Solid American gold.
This is our country. This is what we are about, or at least used to be about. It isn’t really about the beer, (yet it sorta is) yet to do this today would probably be criminal. In fact, it wasn’t and shouldn’t be. It is insane, deliciously insane. God bless this man and the men he went to see. Of course we couldn’t take beer to Iraq or Afghanistan, it was illegal. No more American wars without beer.
Sht like this is the reason why were the greatest country today. Will do THE dumbest sht to keep united and keep pushin. And to keep spirits up. Love an respect to these guys

This man is an absolute legend! As a vet, there is no way this could happen today. But who knows, soldiers can do anything, Friends can do everything.
Oh...it still occurs. Just gotta be more creative.
Thank you for your service! ❤️🇺🇸

If there’s ever a list of Ultimate Bros in History……..this guy is one of them
Ya know that’s actually a really good idea. I bet there’s a few content creators on UA-cam who’d be able to come up with an awesome list.
