    I'm glad this is going to be a movie. This is how you show support to our troops.

    • @antmagor
      @antmagor 2 роки тому +16

      Actually you support them by not allowing politicians to send them to fight for profit wars that have nothing to do with our safety. Yes I am aware of the verbal abuse perpetrated by the far left. And yes I am aware of the despicable comments that were made by Jane Fonda which I do not condone. Those occurrences not withstanding the protests needed to happen because just like Iraq, Vietnam was not America’s war. Our troops deserved better in both cases.

    Incredible book that almost reads like fiction because it is so implausible. His time in Saigon during the '68 Tet Offensive was amazing. As a Marine in VN during that time, I couldn't imagine roaming around I Corps without a weapon or a bunch of them. Incredibly naive or the biggest pair of balls on earth.

    When I worked in the fields of the Pajaro Valley, in the 60s, we would get orders from the government and load a few trucks with produce. The crates were marked for Vietnam. My cousin Bobbie and I would pack magazines, cigarettes, and beer in between the vegetables we were picking mainly celery. We imagined our boys opening the crates and getting a smile on their faces never really knowing if the crates made it to Vietnam. When I was there, I remember seeing crates of produce similar to the ones we packed. Particularly the ones with the Pajaro Valley label. This trailer brings back so many memories and a tear thinking about all the brothers and sisters we left behind. Thank you Peter and Chickie for continuing to share our stories. 🙏💪🌍🌏🌎❤️🇺🇸🖖

    Not to take anything from this video, but I and 6 other MP's (218th MP Co,)were sent with a detachment to Calu and Khe Sanh in 71, and I actually made a couple of beer runs to Quang Tri PX by myself, about 30 miles as the crow flies, closer to 45-50 miles actual road miles. Top secret mission.

    I was also on an ammo ship heading to Viet Nam the same year Chickie was. Could he have been one of my shipmates? I dont know. It's strange because you'd think you would know everyone on board a relativity small ship on a 3 month journey, but that's not always the case. Do you know how I might get in touch with him? Is he on Facebook? If so, I cant find him. Thanks.

    He is a Merchant Marine! not in the Marine corp. There is a big difference Your title makes it sound like he is a Marine . The Merchant Marine primarily transports cargo and passengers during peacetime; in times of war, the Merchant Marine can be an auxiliary to the United States Navy, and can be called upon to deliver military personnel and materiel for the military.
