Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased the carbon cub in have been really thinking about upgrading the radio but I’m still learning. Thank you so very much again for walking through the step-by-step programming. It helps so very much.👍👍☹️
It has been said many times in the comments below, but you saved me a lot of frustration in figuring out how to get safe working, with panic button and flans. Thank you Sir 👍
Cpt I bought a new controller module because I thought mine was bad. Your video was a gift from above. Thank you so very much. I can now fly my favorite plane again with safe and without safe. Your videos are absolutely wonderful easy to follow. Easy to understand you’re not going 100 miles an hour proving how well you can do it for yourself. you’re teaching, sir you are wonderful teacher. Thank you
Cpt - thanks for the video. Just now upgrading to a new DX8 with my Carbon Cub and also finding your video. This will be very helpful in setting up the new configuration. Thanks,
THANKS a MILLION!!! This saved me from pulling all my hair out trying to figure out the flap system among the other issues I experienced! Tossed that manual suggestion out the window.
Great tutorial for someone who is fairly new to RC planes. I bought the Carbon Cub a few months ago and just picked up the NX8 and parts to add flaps and work my way up to the next level. Spent a couple hours earlier today trying to get the NX8 connected to the cub. Running a standard bind got me some of the controls, but not all of them. Your video came up at the top of a YT search for answers and it has gotten me onto the right path to customize the setup to the Cub. Silly me, thinking the default aircraft profile that you can download from the Spektrum site would just work without any fiddling around. Thank you for going through the speed and mixing process as well. I wasn't even aware of those features, so I'm sure you've saved me a ton of headaches while learning to fly the Cub with flaps.
agreed i have not found one video that says the manual says to do this and it jsut dosent work with this plane. which is probably why you cant find the carbon cub s2 on the spectrum site to download
Thank you captain Leo for the video on the nx 8 and carbon club s2 with flaps, I spent 2 days trying to figure out the assignments, you are awesome. It saved me a lot of money from smashing my transmitter thanks a gain!
Hi Wayne, thanks very much for your feedback. That was my hope and intention in making the video, that it would be useful. I've very happy that is helped you.
This is by far the best video I’ve seen on how to setup a carbon cub when you add flaps using the NX8. I even assigned the 3 different flap voice announcements so I know where my flaps are at while flying, and I also duplicated your AUX/ELE mix. Thanks for the video and good work sir!
Great video. Helped me set up my CC2. If you set the switch to D in the mixing menu you can set a different elevator compensation for all three flap positions.
What a stroke of luck to find this. You helped me tremendously! Wish you had left out the part of how it wouldn't work because as I followed along, I did that setup then had to change it. We'll just call it the learning curve, lol. Thank you so much for doing this. You are a very generous person. Best regards. Rodger Glenn
Great video. Very thorough. I spent days as well trying to get this to work. Your method not only works great but I learned a lot about my transmitter in the process. Thank hou
Thank you for a very informative video. I flew RC planes 20 years ago and have only recently returned to the Hobby, I have purchased the carbon club S2, Chandra Patey Limited edition. I want to fit flaps and have an NX 10 transmitter now, so this has proven to be extremely useful in the setting up of flaps. Very informative video as well for new people to the Hobby. Just one observation, sometimes things you are doing are out of the field of the camera view - it would be good if you could be more aware of your camera view and keep everything in sight for the viewer. However, This has been an excellent series of videos. Very useful!
Thanks for your feedback. Glad you found the video useful. I'll pay more attention to the camera frame in future. It's just me and a go pro max at the moment so I mostly can't see how it looks until afterwards. Perhaps in future I'll upgrade my setup if this channel gets more popular. Enjoy flying your limited edition!! :)
Excellent video, I spent many hours following the manual with only confusion and frustration to show for it. Your video got things working quick and easy. Also learned quite a bit in the process. Thanks!
Thanx! I got CC S2 and a NX8. Only S+ is as a BNF file. A little strange it hasnt been updated. Should been one with ad without flaps.. But I set it up with BNF Safe template. Worked nice. Went through the menus and set the wing type up with 1 ail and 1 flap.. It actually worked just fine.. Till I powered it off and powered it on again.. I thought maybe the latest update had fixed this.. but no.. So then I went to use this setup, and it works perfect! Thanx! This is really helpful.
I have been going insane trying to get some one to understand the issue i was having with this plane, the dx6e and the flight modes not working I could not find the file off the spectrum web site to down load for the cub so i was lost. first plane ever so i am just learning. every one ( including my hopbby shop guy ) kept saying read the manual..... and id say im telling you i read the manual theres nothing in there that helps the situation. so im going to try it your way and hope it works thank you for the video im starting to think they are pushing this 250 dollar transmitter just to get you to spend the money and then it just wont work with this plane as easy as it should. so again thanks
Cool video. If I got the Carbon Cub, I would be way too tempted to do the flaps mod, then make it a full house plane, with crow, camber and reflex, then try to put a folding prop on there so it wouldn't windmill when chasing thermals :)
Thanks for making these videos! I’m trying to setup the same plane with NX10. I have everything working except I can’t seem to get the flaps working at all! I went into the channel assign and set 7 aux2 to D, as that is where I have the flaps plugged in, but nothing moving. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? Thanks
Hi Captain Leo. Can I please ask if you notice any differences with aileron trim between SAFE and AS3X? When the plane is stationary (after >25% throttle input has been given then throttle cut is ON), the ailerons in AS3X are completely neutral as are the servos centred on the NX8 transmitter. But when I switch to SAFE mode, the ailerons change position ever so slightly to mimic a left aileron input. This does not self correct when in flight, i.e. the plane will bank left during flight so slightly that if left long enough it will do a full circle. If flying in AS3X mode, the plane will fly completely straight without any issues. I cannot trim this out in SAFE mode as it will just do the opposite for when I switch to AS3X mode. I'm using the stock Flight Controller SPMA3230A which cannot be forward programmed so unable to access attitude trim settings to tell the FC to recalibrate. I contacted Hobbyzone and Logic RC Customer Support who both said it's a defective FC and I have been provided with a new one under warranty, however, the new FC makes no difference. I feel this may be down to something with the NX8. EDIT: I have just noticed that you have the same issue when you switch from SAFE to AS3X mode. In your video at 24:31 the ailerons switch position just like mine do.
This was very helpful, and it helped me to get the plane flyable. The only problem I have is that I have an nx6, and I can't set the speed on aux2. I also can't define a mix with aux2, but I can define it with the switch.
Hi from Switzerland 🇨🇭Very useful video, thanks a lot. Much much better than the HZ user guide! I am going to have a look at some of your other videos, and subscribe 😀👍😎
This info is great - I was confused because on the RX the flap servo goes into 8, but the TX is 0-based so flaps are on 7, so you have to asign a digital switch accordingly. Is that right?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I set up the flaps on my CC using the method that you correctly indicated does not work. That led to a frustrating day at the field. I just redid the flaps set up using your method and everything seems to be working correctly now.
Thank you Captain. I am totally new to all this and am trying to install the Carbon Cub S2 on my NX6. I see that you set it up with the AcroSAFE. NSPM file but I cannot seem to find this file anywhere. Great video. A lot to learn.
Hello DaVir. You should be able to download those files from either Horizon or Spektrums web sites, copy them to an SD card and put it in the transmitter. Alternatively using the transmitters Wi-Fi connection may help you update yours. More info here spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/Files/SPM-Model-Setups-NX-TX.pdf
It says the DX G2 BNF Files work with the NX Radio. I know theres a few carbon cub s2 options for my G2 Presets when i was looking. One was a regular simple one with no flaps, another was for flaps installed. Should be the right BNF File for your TX even though its not a .nspm file at first.
All the preset templates are at the below link. There is not one for the sport cub yet, perhaps in the future. You can set it up with the basic Acro Safe Mode template and then adjust the settings to suit. drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1bdKKKqwn3TCYWPRrjkQJ1q7b5SXjXnRn?usp=sharing&pli=1
Hello Mark, your absolutly correct. Flaps are not required to fly and enjoy the lovely Carbon Cub. Adding flaps is a fun project for many, and the added flap feature opens up more flying adventures, for example short takeoff's and landings. I've even got mine to go backwards (in relation to the ground) on breezy days and achieve some very shport landing rolls. This is an added challenge too, with more learning to do. It's tricky doing short landings without stalling when you try to make them very short :).
Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased the carbon cub in have been really thinking about upgrading the radio but I’m still learning. Thank you so very much again for walking through the step-by-step programming. It helps so very much.👍👍☹️

Thanks for this info, have the exact setup and got half way with flaps and couldn't figure out the speed and mix. Great video!

How do we add a Flap audio on switch “D” with this set up?
Wonderful video and super helpful. Thanks for putting in the time.
Thank you, I'll add creating a video on the audio features to my idea list :).
Freaking awesome video bud! You made this video just at the right time. I couldn't figure this out to save my life. Thank you!
Glad you found it useful. It took me quite some time to figure it out the first time, too.
Thanks so much! ❤
I tried it like that with my dx6e and I still can't get the flaps to work. I assigned it to switch D and have the wing type normal

I am planning on buying the NX8 transmitter but its a bit annoying that there is no config file to download for this plane.
Honestly learn how to set up your own models, it is better to understand what does what, and at this point, you can do it in about 10 minutes.
Are you getting rx voltage? I get altitude on mine but no rx voltage. Any idea what this could be ?
What servo did you use?
I used the recomended spektrum one.
Cool video, you have to subscribe right away.
And here I thought I was going to set up my sport cub s2 with my NX8 😢

Man, now I have to read and study the operation manual to learn how to operate the controller. It's getting ridiculous.
Thanks for making it very confusing
Rudy it must be only you because everyone else got it.
You don’t need flaps on the carbon cub.
