I absolutely love the color of the Dr PH Martin’s one, but for painting I think I’ll be more inclined to use the brighter ones.

I have not used the Speedball ink for calligraphy but have used the other three. I find that the Liquitex Acyrlic is a little thick to use with a dip pen but can be watered down a bit. I love both the Dr. PhMartin and the Winsor and Newton inks with the Winsor and Newton being my favorite. Thank you for confirming my thoughts about these inks and sharing your opinion with us. 💕🎨💕🖌🎨💕

Thank you so much Pat and my pleasure 🌸🌹👩🏻‍🎨😉WN generally isn't my favorite watercolor brand because the paints aren't as vibrant and not enough lightfastness but they did well with their gold ink 😁

Thanks for the comparison, Maria. I have never used the inks in gold, but only the metallic watercolors. I think I will get some Winsor and Newton for my Christmas cards this year! You know I love your painting!!!!

Hi, Maria, I suggest you try schminke powder metals. They are like liquid gold, bronze, silver. So much better than any of these inks! Im a calligrapher, btw. Love your work. 🤗

I thought that the Windsor Newton had the prettiest color. Thank you for the review! I have Coliro golden watercolors by Finetek and I really like them as well. When you mix water with them they feel really creamy. 💕

I like the lighter gold inks. Maybe a possibility for Christmas cards - especially if they're used to highlight a part of the card rather than being the focus.

The one I use is by Herbin, a pigment gold ink that's quite thick and opaque and lays down smoothly. Its colour is very similar to the Winsor & Newton gold ink but a bit warmer.
I also use the gold Gansai paints but those aren't inks.

Little Miss Muffet I use it! I love it!
Works well with brushes and with calligraphy pens!!
Make sure you stir the living hell out of it. Shaking won’t do enough as there are some corners

I agree that the Winsor Newton ink seems the best choice. Can't wait for mine to arrive!
How can I possibly pick a favorite card?! I love the sweet sleeping bear on the gift, the gorgeous simplicity of the blue ornaments, the adorable bear holding a gingerbread man and the cuteness of the bear looking at golden stars... all great. The rustic cabin & snowy tree scene is also so nice.

It’s funny because I don’t like W&N watercolours, I found their pigmentation really dull and weak, but their inks are great, this gold ink is super pretty and easy to use, I also love their silver

To be honest, my favorites are not reall 'ink' but rather an acrylic ink made for airbrush and a watercolor made with mica.
    - The acrylic ink is 'Aerocolor Porfessional' (The Aero Metallic set) by Schmincke, for when I want something that is completely opaque, fast drying and that I can use immediately. I have also one of their 'Bronze' products, an acrylic copper color.
    - The watercolors are the 'Pearlcolor' watercolors by Coliro. They are pretty well known in Europe and depending on the product line (metallic, pearl, iridescent, galaxy, etc) you can have very different colors and results, depending on the color underneath. The metallic set though is absolutely opaque and intense, but you have to wait for at least 10 minutes after wetting the color, to get the mica activated. Unless you want it to be transparent, then you can use it immediately. Their range of tones for gold alone has over half a dozen colors.
I admit though, both companies are german and in Germany, so am I, so I got my hands on them pretty early and easily and they are not THAT expensive here (4 to 5 Euro for one Coliro color, cheaper in sets though). So, yeah.
Oh, also: I don't know about the golden inks, but the Aerocolor acrylic ink and the Pearlcolor watercolors have both the highest lightfastness, for all their products. I know that Winsor & Newton doesn't have that even for their watercolors, not to mention their 'normal' ink. And for me, that is an important point (except for alcohol based markers, they are not lightfast at all, no matter what brand).

I'm still confused to choose. I mean I don't have any idea how they would look on watercolour and in different scenarios of colour that used. If I use Dr Ph. Martins for dark painting like mostly black, would it look great or should I choose something brighter? And vice versa, for the bright scenario, is it better to choose Dr Ph. Martins or Liquitex?

@@mariamorjane I checked my unopened bottle of gold ink, and it happens to be PhMartins............I was looking at different brands when I was at my local Michaels store, and this is the one I ended up with........I saw a few by Winsor and Newton, but they had bronze and no gold........I'll have to try out the PhMartins, but I think I'll be happy with my decision

I like them all to be quite honest! Beautiful cards. Do you spray a fixitive on them to keep them from getting damaged?

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  4 роки тому +1

Thank you Francine 🌹🌸and no, I don't spray them. I worry about loosing the "sparkle" which can easily happen when you do use fixatives over watercolors that have some gold pigment in them, I mix in my watercolors some of the gold watercolor pigment.
