- Battlefield 2042 is a very divisive game and they just added 128 player Breakthrough back. It's absolute chaos! Let's play and see if it's the best or worst mode ever. Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.

The only downside to break through 128 was at the time when it was available to play, the maps were so vastly open. Battlefield maps need to have a multitude of close quarters combat areas to keep the game flow good. Back when it was available to play at first breakthrough 128 on manifest with absolutely amazing because the whole entire run was close quarters combat areas but on other maps it wouldn't work as well but I don't care what anybody says break through 128 is the best
also some of the capture points were in such abysmal locations. On top of a highriser and you can air drop tanks and other vehicles up top......

Honestly, I think Breakthrough 128 players should come back as an option on the breakthrough playlist. It's a nice change.

Breakthrough 128 really gives that Metro/Locker chaos that I always loved. They must make it a permanent mode again imo
I literally just tried BF2042 for the first time this week, and this breakthrough mode was my very first match. It was insane and chaotic... in a good way

Except metro didn't have 5 enemy tanks camping inside the middle of the objective making it impossible for the defending team to do anything

@@jclif77 the game was always fun imo, it’s just a lot less broken now, and we have at least another year of patches yet to come

2:42 the invisible soldier bug is back. I've experienced this a bunch of times over the last couple days. Sometimes they even show up on on the mini map, so I run over to the location but there's no one there, no dead bodies nothing.

How in the world does something like that even exist in the games code?
@@MagikSpellzz Pretty sure it has to do with players disconnecting and the server still reporting the player data and position even though they aren't there anymore. Eventually the server polls them out.
As attackers you don't really win a lot but when you do, it feels monumentally more satisfying than winning in breakthrough 64.

The chaos of MW2's Shipment, but with vehicles for added flavour. I think it's perfectly acceptable once in a while, but sparingly... I prefer my brain not to be blended.
I love shipment - been playing on the naughty list - so much fun and chaos. But I would love that feeling in a BF title, and this looks like it could be it.
I agree though that my brain can get blended by shipment, and some days I dont do a single round on it.
And I am not a CoD fanboy but the 2019 MW introduced me, and MW2 shows it off in an a new and amazing way.

I'm glad this mode exists. It can be a huge amount of fun. But, also very glad smaller modes of Breakthrough are the standard.
I would have no issues rotating a map each week for this special mode.

@Swector_Unit same but the time limit was rough for attackers. Feel the hard limit should kick in when it changes to rush.
What my fellow Dice devs need to understand as that we CRAVE the chaos. 128 breakthrough was the best game mode for me personally, the firefights are absolutely nuts. One of the few game modes that I feel that forces players to understand firefights/map rotation and being punished for not disengaging or pushing when needed to. I really hope we get dedicated servers again, I’d play it 24/7.
Honestly, it’d be hella fun to play with 128 players on the downsized 64 player maps.
It definitely is absolute chaos, but that is what's fun about it 🙂.

Just go play portal. Ive been playing 128 man rush, breakthrough and conquest for like a year now.
I really have enjoyed the live events Dice has been doing, This and last weeks were actually fun and a nice change from the normal.

The ammount of fun Jack was having just holding the M1 Button was amazing!
This reminds me of Operation Metro. It's a much larger level, but essentially still a corridor with non stop gunfire and grenade explosions.

The chaos makes the game feel much like an all out war experience, i think more hardcore players tend to enjoy smaller and more spread out firefights

the problem with it back in the day was not only the maps that were just plains with no cover, but also the amount of helis that were spamming down on infantry, especially the nightbirds that were in the trasnport category, not that problem doesn't exist anymore, and even with those things, it was still my favorite gamemode

128 player Breakthrough was great, it's just that it was taken out before the game could properly handle it with all the bugs and glitches. It's a more modern take of a beach landing on all maps, minus a ton of vehicles for cover.
I think this mode reflects the spirit of battlefield. Absolute chaos. I wish they make it permenant

Smoke grenades are your best friend in this mode aswell as well as a decent team in a tank . Best weapons are either sub machine guys or sniper rifles. Reminds me of Battlefield 4 . Great game .

@@chlonez no trophy system used. Can promise that, was constantly poking from flanks targeting the front line and then pushing up

@@chlonez I would keep swapping sides that I approach from and try to get cheeky angles. Once you get the first sector it’s much easier to stay alive

I love the chaos. Back in BF3/4/1 i'd always play Metro, Locker and Fort de Vaux. And only these maps LOL.

I love 128 player breakthrough when the map is suitable. Nordvik is the best map in the game and honestly might end up being one of the best in the franchise. I love it

I can tell you that watching it was extremely entertaining. It was so satisfying seeing you mowing down 4 or 5 enemies at a time between getting revived and doing it again lol. It made me instantly want to go play and try it. I have to say, it’s rather fun. Would recommend. Had to come back after I played a couple matches to comment. I haven’t had this much fun on battlefield 2042 yet. So I think they are at least on the right track with this one move.
I wonder if that 02:44 was someone that freezed. It happens to me occasionally in the beginning of matches, and for 15 seconds you can't do anything. But I'm not sure if you are bulletproof under those freezes, but I have served a few out in the open when I knew there was enemy around me, so it might be the case.

They took it out when the game engine wasn’t performing. This is a test to see if it’s stable enough for long term availability. It’s the best mode as it shows off the next gen possibility with all the active action on screen. No other game does this. Only in battlefield. Now if they could only build a proper event driven 128 mode.
I feel like the map layout is way too linear for that many players but it's sick to watch! In a medieval-themed game, this map design and amount of players would be cool because you could have cinematic moments where lines of opposing teams clash

Thank god they added this mode back now ima go back to this great game. It was my fav mode before they took it out. The chaos is amazing and its actually not hard to win with the right teamwork or lose without. I never understood why we went backwards in gaming. More people not less

That's honestly what I loved in Battlefield, I discovered BF with BFV and I still remember the breakthrough games on Operation Mercury, Aerodrome or Operation Metro, with some insanely chaotic capture points. This is what I loved the most, and I'm glad it's returning to BF2042. It will not bring me back to the game because I don't own it but it's good to know that at least they are going away from the empty gameplay that was due to oversized map and focusing more on chaotic infantry clusters.
Breakthrough Chaos was.. absolute chaos.. but it worked. It was "Battlefield". I think the original gamemode should have stayed, people just needed to open their minds more. But it is what it is. Glad we got to experience this for this week at least. All the games I played the points were rapidly changing hands. Was fantastic.

It's just like Operation Locker or Metro, some people love it some hate it.
I think it's great to have something like that in the game.

I haven't had a chance to play this but it looks like it might feel like BF1 a little?! the absolute madness and chaos really felt so intense and fun.
The way forward for 128 Player Breakthrough is:
Double the objective from 2 to 4 per sector and minimum 3 per sector.
Distance between objective need to be quite some distance and cannot be clustered too close.
Within the sector, instead of having to capture all objective, the attacker have to capture at least 2 to move forward. This allows the separation of player to cover all objective and allow some great battle line with attacker having to plan which 2 objective to be captured and the defender have to split their force to defend all objective.
This mode was the BEST thing they have done yet! The chaos really depicts war in a nutshell.
I dislike meat grinders. I like some balance of mental strategy and diverse skill requirements. I don't want more lockers, metro, or any other mindless spam.

Tried this last night for the first time and my frame rate all of a sudden dropped by 15-20 average and I thought my PC needed a restart but it's just the added 64 players on the map I haven't experienced before. (I play Exodus Conquest with 64 cause 128 is just nuts)
This mode seems better with jack !! love your videos.
also many changes in this mode not only the player count :
- faster vehicules spawn
- faster movement (I think infantry only)
- lighter throwable (mean you can throw throwables too far)
- faster bullet speed (maybe - not sure).

It’s fun and very chaotic, i wonder if adding a third flag would help having more of a tactical feel in all this chaos. I would like all the modes introduce in this even to be in the rotation from time to time but on the other maps.

I’ve noticed whenever I play everybody has no problem flatlining me in 2 shots but whenever I shoot someone it’s like I’m shooting butte bullets. Like I just don’t know

ive played quite sometimes in this game mode enough to unlock all the event item (which probably not tat long with falck, ammo, prox sensor, and avancys).. all ive seen is stalemate at C.. which is bonkers

It's the most fun I've had since the game was launched. I think it's a combo of the map and player size
That McKay skin looks like "StoneMountain 64" and "Stodeh" had a baby and it grew up to be an in-game character skin model.
