Just want to say thanks again for doing this reaction to this brilliant song. It’s addictive. His voice, his lyricism, the insanely catchy chorus. It’s just so good and it never gets old. As we say in the UK, he’s a proper genius.
Your appreciation of Dylan's voice and, moreover, his messages makes me want to see you react to so many of my favorites - Masters of War, God on Our Side, Hurricane, Sara, Girl From the North Country, Tangled Up in Blue, - I could go on and on . . .look forward to seeing some in the future. xox
Dylan truly is captivating. There’s some heavy hitters on this song. Robbie Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar on the rhythm section giving it that authentic reggae feel. Also have dual guitars from the great Mick Taylor (Ex Stones) and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) as well as keys from Alan Clark also from the Dire Straits.
Dylan sings in metaphor, allowing you to craft your own connection to the song. Few of his songs are straightforward in imagery though they may be straightforward in message.
I was looking through the comments before I posted this, you're on top of it brother(or sister?, kinda looks like a masculine name, but what do I know).
@@scottsmith1712 Your'e about 20 years older than me. It will be a sad day when Dylan isn't in the world with us. "Give me back the Berlin Wall, Give me Stalin and St Paul"

Teez, Cool to see a young man into Dylan. Dylan has such powerful lyrics. He forces you to hear and forces you to look in the mirror. Seems some people can't handle looking in the mirror. Whenever I hear someone say they don't like Dylan, I really wonder (not so much in a good way) about that person. Enjoy your channel. It's cool to see how much you enjoyed the music! Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you! I really enjoy watching you discover Dylan. I first saw him singing in a high school gym in 1964. He was alone with a guitar, harmonica and his unique genius. My 17 year old life changed that night FOREVER. Discover his early years, especially when he went electric.
Good to see someone going slightly "off piste" with their Dylan choices. Jokerman is fantastic. Might I recommend "Abandoned Love" which should have been on the "Desire" album but didn't see the light of day until the "Biograph" compilation. Also "Changing of the Guard" from Street Legal is well worth a listen.
subbed , love the Dylan. Hey man another awesome song he has is called ' Dark Eyes" that song is almost never found in full version..but it a masterpeice !!
You've got to put this into historical context. This was the original MTV. Before MTV. The images used also hold great historical context. Put every line and every image together. The editing of this video was well ahead of its time. And then there are the lyrics. Social, historical, biblical, it's all there. One of the great Dylan performances.
You should give a try to his 2020’s masterpiece Key West (Philosopher Pirate). Also I guess you would love his short 60s outtake called Eternal Circle (go for The Bootleg Series Vol. 1-3 studio version)
Thrre is no other artist that comes close to.bob dylan. Im 63 been a bob fan since before i was born i just love watching young people discover a true living legend . Its not that i dont know there are young artists out there but my god dylan is the cats pyjamas Love to the world from an old hippy in Ireland
I'm not a fan of 80s Dylan at all, and I know a lot of others don't love it. But it's still cool seeing people check it out. If you get any 60s or 70s Dylan requests, always go for them. It's an endless treasure chest of music. Gates Of Eden. Ballad Of A Thin Man. Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll. All of those are easy ones to like and look into. Guaranteed to like. You might get some 80s requests and if you dig them, that's awesome! Just know that a lot of people kind of shy away from MOST of Dylan's 80s work. His vocals were weird for a lot of it. I know some people won't agree and all, but just letting you know what the mass appeal is at.
This is one of my favourite Dylan songs. Masters of war and Lilly rosemary and the jack of hearts I love as well 3 great songs you should give the other two a try I would say you would like them
Ok so you found my fav Dylan song.. I am a massive fan but all my contemporaries tell me I'm nuts and insist this is a poor Dylan song. I love it.. It speaks to me somehow. So simple and so complex and so Dylan
I agree this song is literally incredibly good. Dylan says that he does not know where his songs come from. He is probably honest, you cannot write songs like Jokerman and others on Infidels, and many more of course, by an act of the will. Like your low-key comments also, suit the context well.
Always one of my favorite Dylan songs since i heard it when it first came out. The video images are distacting since i don't think they represent the images in the song. my opinion, obviously.
You should listen to Phil ochs Here's to the state of Mississippi. Talk about a guy with gonadotropin He tells Mississippi to find another country to be part off He dises every aspect of the state. This was in the 60s .I like phill more than Dylan for radical lyrics
This is one several of Dylan's "comeback" albums. Truth is, he has never needed to make a comeback, all of his albums are great, IMO, some just rubbed his fan base the wrong way. It's worth watching the live performance he did of this on Letterman in 84. Totally different presentation and actually more punk rock
The greatest reggae rhythm section ever, Sly and Robbie, played bass and drums on this track.

Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) and Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on guitar in this recording. Such a great song.

For me Dylan songs are not about what they mean but how they make me feel. This guy is special!
I love that insanely ridiculous photo of Reagan at 5:27 during the chorus.

Who in earth says standing on the water casting your bread? Bob Dylan. He is championing mankind and always did.
Robbie and Sly kickin' the groove.

Sly and Robbie on the bass and drums. Can't beat those grooves.
