It's basically Webflow but without the annoying combo classes - it's more true to a proper HTML/CSS experience. No vendor lock-in as well! The devs are super active, Webstudio is amazing!
Paul, we look forward to more content about Webstudio! Having the option to export everything in static HTML is a great option for Landing Pages and less complex projects. And in a way, all the recent drama about WordPress and WP Engine has made not only me, but many other professionals who work with WordPress, rethink their strategies and tools.
Funny you mention the latest drama about WP and WP Engine.. instead of looking at these 'builders' and other 'do it for me' tools.. have you considered actually learning to code? Learning some basics / languages like PHP, JS?
@@BGdev305 I do understand where you are coming from. For me everything started with learning HTML in 1993, and it did grow from there. But a lot of the creative people I know don't like stuff with strict rules, like Maths or coding, so I guess there is a good chance it is the same with a lot of web designers. The way you wrote your comment (and especially this: instead of looking at these 'builders' and other 'do it for me' tools) sounds really arrogant. In general web design and coding are 2 different fields (and skills!), and It isn't even about the skills but more about the individual interests. You shouldn't expect other people to be interested in what you love to do. Most designers will never be coders, and vice versa. If you have both skills, great. But IMHO that doesn't give you the right to look down on everyone else who can't do that. So maybe consider that the next time before you write something like this.
Interesting! Please do more content about it, especially the connections to external databases, since that is lacking in WordPress. Keep up the great work 👍🏻😊
This is an excellent video. I had heard of Webstudio, but discounted it as a weak copy of Webflow. However, the headless CMS options and being able to export code to host wherever is amazing!
Yes please to more videos on this Paul. Anything to give us some wiggle room in case the wordpress debacle gets any worse. This looks really promising. And I imagine most of us are interested in more information about connecting it to headless CMS please.
I tested it a little from what I can tell the offline doesn't run the UI part of it. It just generates your saved pages and runs a webserver allowing you to view your saved pages locally. Not exactly what I was expecting.
I made the decision to diversify my web platforms and tech stack like many others. I would love to see more on WebStudio and a comparison between that and WP / WF.
When Webstudio rolls out a UI for CSS Grid I think we’ll have a real contender. Hook it up to an external CMS like Ghost, which doesn’t have a builder, and 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you very much, Paul. I think it is a great tip and I will look into it. I am interested in learning more about WebStudio and would really appreciate you taking the time to do a more in depth tutorial.
Yes, have a deeper look into WebStudio, in first look usually products look nice, but I would like to know the limitations which you usually only find out well into a project
Thanks Paul, Very interesting. Also, it is good to know more about using this. One of the interesting things which I don't think it is happend usually for every day works(at least currently for me), is the ability to integrate many kind of platforms databases into one project, which is really grate. What are the benefits of using it? What are the benefits for a wordpress designer/developer? Some good usecases and projects that we can see and analyze.
I wanted to create a plugin witch on activation will create a admin menu page, PluginSidebar and panelBody, then in the sidebar I will have a lot of different jsx components to render and also have api calls. Now to make some thing like this, how will I structure the code base, should I use @wordpress/create-block, or just @wordpress/scripts, or traditional php way. Can you help?
I've had my eye on this for a while now. I'd love to see a video on getting into it more. I also noticed it doesn't seem to have CSS grid feature. I might be wrong though. But I couldn't find it last I checked
This looks really interesting. If you want to look deeper, it would be interesting to dig into dynamic data, how templates work and how you can leave a good client experience for his website...! Not asking much 😂
But no CMS unless you want to pay monthly right? Then you have to hook it up to the API. So not really a free and easy alternative when you get all that out the box in wordpress. And who knows where WebStudio will be in 2-3 years.
Who knows where WordPress will be in 2 years at the rate things are going right now! 🤷 Bear in mind that I've not suggested that the alternatives are free. The reality is that WordPress isn't free once you factor many other things into the equation. :)
@@WPTuts That is true but ill put my money on wordpress still being around and all this stuff being forgotten in a year. Would you build a client site on this? For this to match what is free in wordpress you have to spend a monthly fee. Lets see how many people are willing to do that.

Is the download version free to use for non WF customers? I consider to cancel my subscription anyway.
YESSS! I want to know more and I would love to see WebStudio tutorial from you Paul. Thanks a lot for bringing this option to us.

Interesting... Interesting. Would love to see more.
That's interesting Paul. I'd like to know more about WebStudio
Oh I love WebStudio! Thanks for reviewing this, Paul.
Interesting! Please do more content about it, especially the connections to external databases, since that is lacking in WordPress. Keep up the great work 👍🏻😊
Yes I would be interested in this and also what CMS you would choose to use with it.
I really love this series, learning so much
I would definitely see more videos on that. Thank you Paul❤
Yes, would like to see more, especially attaching a project to a CMS.....
Please make more content about Webstudio. I think they deserve a lot more attention :)

Very interesting indeed !!!
Thank you for showing this, Paul
Very interesting - as always. A 'How-to-get-started' video with a newbie focus from start to finished online website would be very nice.
Please show us the process of using it offline with some CMS and hosting❤
I'm not sure how it works offline - when I'm offline it returns, "No connection detected - Check your network cables, modem, or router."
Would also like to the offline capabilities. Had a quick play but not obvious. I prefer to do all dev local these days ( using localwp ).
I tested it a little from what I can tell the offline doesn't run the UI part of it. It just generates your saved pages and runs a webserver allowing you to view your saved pages locally. Not exactly what I was expecting.

More, please! Intrigued about the “bring your own CMS” feature. And the static site enervation.
Thanks for this, looks very interesting and open source! It would be great to see a longer, more in depth look, absolutely!
Another surface-level knowledge. :)
@@sevenelven yup. It was a surface level first look and not made out to be anything more. 🤷🏼♂️

Style sources are actually more like classes. Css variables can be accessed when type in style fields.

I wondered the same thing. There's a video on it. They don't have a UI for grids yet, but you can add your own custom CSS to add grids in yourself.
I guess "WSTuts" wouldn't be too hard of a rebrand ;-)
Looks great! More content please 🙏
Does it run on PHP as well?
Great! Webstudio 🚀
Interesting to see also Framer

Does it let you build database driven sites? That's where WordPress beats the rest

Too late, if anything.
The use of classes for each element is too much. I found a H1 having numbers of classes.
