I have tried the Elise Purnell pattern six times and was ready to do serious harm to myself. very confusing, her directions. love your tutorial. thank you so much! you have no idea. :) very grateful.
I saw this pattern on pinterest and I loved it. it took me to a link on ravelry and I got the pattern, but I didn't know how to do the foundation single crochet. then I found this video and ya straightened me out. lol thank you for posting this wonderfull video. I'm making mine out of wool and it is coming together nicely..😆
This is not fingering weight yarn. Even the pattern says DK. Beautiful scarf though. Do you know how hard it is to do 34 fsc with actual fingering weight yarn and a 4.25 hook?
I got a little concerned on the 2nd time through the pattern when I got to the center and the 5dc clusters didn't land exactly in the center of the 10 below, but it turned out all right in the end. Just thought I'd throw that in there for anyone else who may notice the same thing and hesitate as a result. I tried the pattern on some plain blue yard first. When I do it for real, I'll use something much more interesting because this pattern deserves it!
I found through trial and error that the Foundation Single Crochets at 34 are off, you need to FSC 35 to get the second row to work out proper. My reasoning here is the chains would not work either at 35 chains, I did both and same results in both with the original instructions. So I increased the chain stitches to 36, and the FSC to 35 and got the results shown in the video with 2 sc left, skip 1 sc, 5 dc in last sc.
34 stitches (either foundation sc or standard sc) does work, but it helps to stay vigilant with counting your stitches. You need 28 for 14 dc1/sk1 + 4 for the 5dc shells + 2 for sk1 after 1st and 3rd shells (=34sc total) : )
Thanks for the tutorial. It was quite helpful despite the audio/video quality of your system : ) Would love to see a redo where you use a solid light color yarn and better recording quality.
Very poor demo. Your instructions are not clear, and the camera is out of focus.. Your fingers are constantly covering the area that should be seen by the viewers. A total waste of time.
Absolutely gorgeous! You explain and show the stich very clear, thanks.

early on she did say 35 chains to have 34 stitches.
foundation sc is different than chain 35, sc in each chain

Could you do a blanket with this stitch please
Blurry and Dark yarn is not for Tutorial.
video hard to follow, plus the yard is hard to see as well, but the instruction are good.
need use solid yarn color. when your teaching crochet patterns.
