    i'd like to share my progress with anyone reading this!
    I've gained a lot of effortless power trying Larry's concepts:
    The main things I'm doing (if you've been watching his vids you'll know what these are):
    1) squat and jump
    2) Heel to heel
    3) better trail arm structure
    4) tray drill
    to keep this brief...
    before:
    PW: 128--132 carry
    7i: 158-163 carry
    After:
    PW: 140-145 carry
    7i: 170-175 carry
    I'm dead serious about this. I just need to ingrain the changes and make them permanent!

    I've been working on the same type of thing and I found that getting taller and the hands a little higher at address, left wrist a bit extended made all the difference. It helped me be less handsy at takeaway and that got me wider and the tip tray position at the top happened almost automatically. Everyone has different feels that work for them but it might make things a little easier for you in the backswing. Worked for me.

    This is awesome! I recently started working on some of the other aspects of your teachings in the downswing to try to get more speed but something was missing. I had the a-ha moment recently that my arms/elbows were not in the correct position and were impacting my ability to progress. I have started working to fix that, but I wasn't sure I was on the right track. The timing of this video is perfect as it highlights to me where my thinking was off and what I need to work on. I would rather come in for a lesson but seeing as I am 7 hours away, this will have to do, for now. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your methodology.

    Love this video and have a HUGE appreciation for what Johnny Wunder is trying to do. I’m actually 38 years old and am attempting similar goals within a similar timeframe. With all due respect...I would suggest that you do some reading on how the human brain learns and how badly humans are with body positioning. Humans are 100% scientifically proven to be AWFUL at repeating body positions. A great alternative would be to come up with tasks for your students to attempt that move them into the correct positions. Your students will thank you for it. Thanks for the video - Chris

    • @LarryCheungGolf
      @LarryCheungGolf  5 років тому

      Christopher Springer hey Chris, thanks for watching! I appreciate your comment but I think there may be a misunderstanding of how I get my clients to change movement. I very rarely put them into positions, most of the time I offer a suggestion, i could interpret it as a task if i May, that gets them moving in the way we want. So for example for Johnny, his task would be to stretch his hands behind him and tip the tray behind him. I’ve been very successful at implementing changes that last, so Id like to think I’m doing something right :)

    • @christopherspringer7809
      @christopherspringer7809 5 років тому

      Larry Cheung Golf - Thanks for the response Larry. I totally understand and I get that you’ve had success getting people to change their swings. However, I would question how efficiently/easily they can translate the changes to the course and shoot lower scores. The best golfers in the world are target-focused on the course. What normally happens when teaching positions is the person will inevitably try to move their new moves to the course and lose their target-focus in favor of attempting body positioning. At the last instant before impact the brain says “oh crap, make sure I hit the ball”...and the person goes from position-focus to ball-focus. The result is literally ANY number of things...most often over-the-top as this is the most efficient way for the human body to strike the ball.
      I’m not saying your methods can’t work...however, I will tell you that I have taken many lessons and received very similar teaching. What happened to me was that I improved somewhat...only to eventually regress back into my natural body motions because my task was incorrect. After researching LOTS of biomechanical information about how the body works and finding someone who teaches the swing based on task-focus, I saw HUGE progress in my game. Best regards to you and best of luck to you in all that you do. - Chris

    • @LarryCheungGolf
      @LarryCheungGolf  5 років тому

      Christopher Springer happy to hear you found your way to improve :)
      A player has to be technically good enough to play the golf they want and be target focused, no amount of target focusing will help someone add 10 miles of speed to their game without making improvements to their swing.
      There is a time and place where I transition players from making technical upgrades to prepping for play, but that time ain’t there yet for Johnny :)

    Any reason for not allowing 2 or 3 shots per progression, versus feedback on each one? Just curious as to the hit, stop, and review methodology it seems counterintuitive to developing feels.

    • @LarryCheungGolf
      @LarryCheungGolf  5 років тому +4

      I give video feedback when I feel like I need to, in Johnny's case, the feedback allowed him to understand and implement what is a pretty extreme feel that in alot of cases looks completely off in their own head, so video is necessary, you'll see in some of my other lesson videos that I don't show video as often, it really depends on who and what the situation calls for =)

    Very curious to hear more about your swing theory Larry. The backswing stuff seems "against the grain" with a lot of other principals being taught, but there have been great results with consistency and speed form what I've seen on your channel and w/ the TXG folks.
    I'd be concerned about coming too far to the inside and being too far laid off at the top.
    Thanks!
