What a great video…..I’m a big fan of Billy Strings, he comes to the Netherlands in November and we are on the concert. I think he is the best guitar player in the world, I practice the dust in the baggie on my guitar…but man….he plays so fast….hihihi….great guy
This young man just blows me away every time i listen to him. Whether its videos of he and his dad jamming or in concert with his Extremely talented band. He inspires both as a musician but also just as a person. Humble and polite, even though he's the baddest boy on the block! You dont see enough of that these days....
I've been blown away by Billy Strings playing for years, but every time I see him NOT playing I like him even more. I really liked how he clutched his new guitar and went on a shop tour to thank everyone involved in making it. And I bet he went home and said "I had the coolest day ever!".
People doing what they love for work and a damn good job of it at that. That's true America for you. Thanks Billy Strings and Thompson Guitars for doing their part to keep the fire burning.
Just discovered Billy Strings yesterday. I guess I've been living under a rock. Seriously talented and those Thompson guitars are pieces of work! Really nice! Thanks!
Must be a proud moment for the folks that built that guitar. I know I would be. Love the bound fretboard and headstock. Beautiful sunburst finish. Gorgeous. Thank God for the passion of true craftsmen. Bravo Thompson Crew ❤
Who ever nick named him Billy “Strings” hit the nail on the button, he is amazing with his guitar. Best picker Ive ever seen. Best of luck to you Billy.
True artists, making it possible for each other to make their art. What could be better than that? And the rest of us get to enjoy the fruit of their labors!
Man I live a couple hours from sisters. Really nice touristy town I go through on my way hunting and what not. Very cool to see these guts build gutairs like these there. Wish I had heard about this Billy strings before now. His videos showed up in my favorites, loving them.
I guess I found my next guitar. I will not stop until I have one of these beauties! Love it. And of course Billy Strings definitely sounds awesome with his new Thompson...Peace, until I get one, Randy P. Thompson
What a fascinating and unique individual!.. I love playing guitar and wish I had 1/3 of his skills!!! I only recently(last year) heard of Billy. Incredible picking machine!! Love you Billy! Keep shreddin!!
I can listen to Billy Strings and his DADDY all day long , until the "cows come home" !!!! Would love to hear PaPa "Strings" , Billy Strings , Emi Sunshine and the Rain Band get together for some real "Down Home" COUNTRY " HO - DOWNING" !!!! Can anyone out there "get the ball rolling" and set this "match made in HEAVEN" UP !!!!???? Billy Strings and Emi Sunshine , keeping COUNTRY GREAT !!!!
Billy Strings reminded me of Doc Watson the first time I heard him play, but later realized Billy was taking it farther, or a different direction anyways. After Seeing Doc and Mearl Watson playing in 1976 at a little basement (Cellar Door?) club in Georgetown, next to Washington DC, I was hooked on bluegrass type music, which I got into through the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and the SF bay area bluegrass scene. Does Billy play slide, like Mearl did? Haven't seen it yet, if he does. Merle was my favorite acoustic player, and still ranks near the top. The story is Merle heard Duane Allman's slide playing, and was so infatuated he bought a 1959 Les Paul to learn on. When Gallagher made dreadnoughts for Doc and Merle, Doc wanted a Mahogany body, while Merle opted for rosewood, asking Gallagher to make the neck just like his '59 LP (hopefully I remember this story correctly). Merle would use light gauge strings, and tune UP to an E chord, like Duane usually did - the thick '59 neck could handle the torque pressure. That is a beautiful guitar, and will sound MUCH better after it gets older, and played more. I'm guessing Billy can break-in an acoustic guitar like nobody else! EDIT: What beautiful dreds Thompson makes! I'd like mine with Honduras Mahogany please, and (of course) an Andirondack "red spruce" soundboard. On second thought, I don't deserve a guitar that beautiful, and already have too many, although I could sell them all and get a Thompson>? I'll keep playing my late 1997 Gibson Songbird Deluxe and early 1970's D-40 for now, but those beautiful Thompson dreds have my attention (especially when Billy Strings is playing one).. pktguitars.com/custom-acoustic-guitar-models/dreadnought-2/
Pharmer David lol. Have some Honduras Mahogany, big planks my father had to fix his boat. He sold most of it, but there are still a few in the basement.
I always wanted to play guitar and Nana bought me a guitar when I was 7! I will never forget the day when I came home from school to be precise Catholic School... Nana told me to get her a towel inside the linen closet...Omg! They're set my guitar, right-handed and all... at only being 7, red-headed and left handed, I gave it my all! No music lessons no one to show me how... I wonder where my guitar is now...!
Oh right I was just wondering because I started playing about 18 months ago. I also paint but more in the Jackson polock style because I'm not that good at drawing
I had a 1964 I think it was an f 45 guild with all Brazilian rosewood on the back and sides and after spending all sorts of barter money on rebuilding this guitar's frets and bridges and bones and saddles and nuts an airline called People's Express pulverized My guitar and then going out of business a week later fun stuff
my cousin Paula used to live in Bend, Orygun... she gave me her nylon string Silvertone with half inch action.. I loved it..... she also taught me how to cuss... bless her heart ❤
Agree it's a very nice guitar but Gibson has never built anything close to this. The sound is more like a Gallagher 'Doc Watson' or Gallagher '72 Special.'
How is the action set on that guitar? He flat picks and then kicks a switch and is playing an electric guitar. It was stunning! Do you offer tours of your shop?
@@ChrisPBacon-1313 LRF, will be fine, But Billy might not, Taking God's name in vein, is Very serious, You might not think so now, But You Will one day, I promise you.
I think wenge is better than Brazilian Rosewood. It has a lot of bite both on the lows and highs. Sort of metallic like tone but it's just super punchy. Alot less expensive than Brazilian Rosewood.
hahaha I love how he carried the guitar around the workshop - that's love right there
Just to hear that first conversation between him and the guitar was a treat
He played under the double eagle! Incredible crosspicking

Chris M. Nail on the head.
According to Wikipedia his aunt gave him the name, indeed because of his abilities with all kinds stringed instruments.
Billy got that name from his aunt at 10 years old. Little Billy Strings is what she called him.
Billy strings music is a treat for the ears and sole.
I want one of your guitars. Billy said they're excellent. That's good enough for me.
I want one of billys worn out ones
Watching Billy pick up a guitar and see how it's tuned then just go into it is always an absolute pleasure.
Awesome..they had it dead on for him
Billy endorses Thompson guitars…and no other builders. That is loyalty and integrity. He also plays his Thompson’s on stage and in the studio.
This stuff makes my heart sing. Wonderful craftsmanship matched with pure talent.
Until you have heard this guy play. You have no clue how good he is. Unbelievable
He’s incredible 👍
He's the Joe Pass of Bluegrass.

Oh Wow you're not kidding I was tripping how loud that rings out...
B Knotty, it sure does!!
