  • Life doesn’t have to be easy to be joyful. In fact, ease of living and joy of heart have little to do with each other. Joy is not the absence of trouble but rather the presence of Jesus. Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi is a letter dripping with joy and surprisingly so-it’s not what anyone would expect given the circumstances surrounding the author and the recipients. As we dip our toes into the joyful waters of this epistle, it’s my prayer that your smile will grow bigger and your heart will become lighter.
This teaching is from our series Technicolor Joy: A Study through Philippians with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

I strive not to dwell in the "Why," but as you express Pastor Skip, I focus on God's plan in it ALL!! I choose JOY over the "Happs" anyday. I'm gonna keep dancing. Thank You LORD!

We need to place emphasis on "What happens TO us after accepting Christ as our Savior!" JOY incubates and erupts!!! My children miles away, do something they know pleases me and call me. They communicate JOY. When I'm obedient, I know the LORD is pleased. I feel JOY. That's Wonderful 😁😁😁😁

Joy. Thx for reminder. What a great gauge to know if we are a little unplugged from the Holy Spirit-and more “in the world”. Releasing some of my tension today. 😊

The hardest thing to do is to completely surrender all to Jesus. Specially when things are going from bad to worst. When you are at the bottom of the pit, and all you can do is to cry out to Him and Trust in Him that whatever you are experiencing is ultimately part of his plan.

Please think for yourselves! The second person pronoun is used extensively in Scripture especially by Paul writing to specific congregations and by Jesus in his parables. Is it not important to examine the full context and know who they are referring to?
Let's see how misguided pastors twist Scripture to promote their false theology like eternal security (aka OSAS)
    Phil chap 1
BIBLE to all God's holy people at Philippi .: (vs 3).. I thank my God everytime I think of YOU... Being confident that he who began a good work in YOU will carry it through to completion" (vs 6)
PROTESTANT's version:- "being confident that he who began a good work in ANYONE, so NO ONE will possibly be disqualified or lose salvation...." Thus "proving" OSAS!??
COMMENT: so you conveniently ignore 75 warnings of how a righteous person can lose their salvation…? The context of any of Paul's letters and his recipients, as well as Paul's deep feelings he had for them (vs 7), while assuming that the "YOU" he refers to, is any and all born again current Christians, is about as fallacious and misguided as one could be. One only has to cross reference Paul with what Jesus says e.g. about those made "clean" ergo "Born again" who become attached to the TRUE Vine in John 15, to see that OSAS is a dangerously false doctrine. YOU have to freely remain in him producing good fruit, for him to remain in YOU. Otherwise "YOU will be cut off and thrown in the fire." When Jesus speaks in parables using the 2nd person plural, he is clearly speaking about the present faithful and to come, unlike those in Paul's letters, not just his immediate congregation and faithful followers. Get it? So what about Eph 2: 8-9 ?
