    It's so refreshing to see a real live repair technician doing actual repairs and not highlight videos. If I wanted to watch a highlight reel I would turn on SportsCenter at night time and watch the top 10 plays of the day. UA-cam is seriously fucking up right now how are you going to ban this man from doing his job and being a standup individual to providing a service to a community of professionals he doesn't even know or charge for that matter

    thanks for th upload. honestly, you are pretty careless working on paying customer's phone. ive watched a few videos and you are by far the most aggressive and careless

      Indeed some of my older videos I was very aggressive according to the Internet. I certainly never thought so. Anyway check out our new or videos hopefully things are better. If it wasn’t for critics like yourself I would never know.

    So did you charge the customer for the lcd?

  • @Masterown35

    "We make the customer sign a waiver in case we break the screen"
    In my personal opinion, if you break the screen, accident or not, it's on you(especially in this case). Shouldn't have a customer sign a waiver in case you make a mistake. That's like taking a car to a mechanic for an oil change and then suddenly the car has trouble starting up and the mechanic refusing to take any responsibility of it.

    • @rossmanngroup
      @rossmanngroup 8 років тому +15

      It's either the customer sign a waiver that if they break the screen it's not the shop's fault
      Or shops start charging $300 for this repair incase the screen breaks.
      It would be wrong for the shop to not TELL the customer how their business works upfront, but if it is stated upfront, I see nothing wrong with this.
      If customers do not like this, it is absolutely their prerogative to not buy such a fucked up phone where you risk breaking a $200+ part to get to the most commonly serviced part on a modern smartphone. But no one in their right mind is going to set up their business to where there is a high likelihood that they lose gobs of money.

    • @Masterown35
      @Masterown35 8 років тому +2

      Louis Rossmann You're missing the point. If you were to take your car in to say, get your brakes redone, and the mechanics end up breaking something, anything on the car, would you expect them to have you sign a waiver beforehand just in case, charge you up the ass because of something that THEY broke, or would you expect them to replace/fix it for free because THEY broke it?
      That's what I'm trying to get at here. If these repair shops, whether they be for electronics, cars, etc, break something, that's their fault. That's called responsibility. That's like you borrowing a lawn mower or weed-eater from your neighbor, breaking it, and then telling them it's their fault.
      And the funny thing is with this video, the screen broke because the camera fell onto it. Lucky for that guy that the customer signed that waiver though right?

      Would you consider it more fair if they just outright charged $250 for the charge port replacement on the S6? because that's what I'd do. no waiver, no back and forth price hikes; I'd simply charge my retail price for charge port repair, and add the cost of the screen to every single repair.
      I don't service this device, because it's a fucking *nightmare* so it's a non-issue for me. but if I did, I absolutely would take into account
      1) the risk involved
      2) the cost related to the risks involved
      when setting up my retail pricing.
      This is what all businesses do. Their prices reflect their expenses. Parts, labor, rent, insurance are expenses. Risk of loss of money is an expense.
      If they did this for every device, yeah, it's bullshit. I understand what you're getting at. But, to put it into context, there are so many stores that won't touch this device. They don't feel like getting googly eyes from customers when they tell the customer it will be $250 for a charge port, nor do they want to be out of pocket a few hundred dollars every other job for an LCD screen because samsung sucks at putting a phone together.
      The reality of the matter is that businesses will not offer services that lose them money. If I as a business owner offered this service at $50, and noticed that my top tier technicians were cracking a $200 LCD 50% of the time, I am either going to raise my price, or stop accepting the device for repair. I can't pay my rent with charity.
      Me, personally, I do not like having sliding prices for customers. I'd just charge $250 for the charge port on this, and explain to people that if they wanted it to be cheaper, they should have bought a less fucked up phone, and call it a day.

    • @Masterown35
      @Masterown35 8 років тому +1

      Louis Rossmann Or you could just make sure the technicians are being careful and doing the job right. Obviously mistakes and accidents happen but you're acting like this is something that would happen almost every time the device is being worked on. The guy in this video had it done perfectly had it not been for his camera falling onto it. Again, something that would be considered *HIS* fault.
      I get that these screens are expensive and the phone definitely looks like a nightmare to work on, but in cases such as the one in this video, I feel it should be replaced for free(which they might have done). If it were during disassembly then yeah I can maybe agree with that. Something similar to this, I can't. Like I said, it's like taking your car in to get worked on, the mechanic breaking something else, and expecting you to pay for it.

    Replacing the charging port itself is much easier than what you are doing.... all you need is a flux and a heatgun. No need to risk removing the lcd.

  • @sauronblue1

    I was trying to use a charging port from an old phone, and put it onto my new phone. I was following along with you, but you don't explain what you're doing, while you're doing it, so I ripped my port assembly out like you did, only to find out once I got my actual phone open, that the way you ripped it out broke the back and tabs buttons off. You need to explain why you're doing what you're doing, like when you were going thru so much to take the screen off with business cards, and I'm wondering what is he doing this for? A simple sentence explaining that you were not concerned with saving the pieces from the phone would've clued me in that this is not the responsible way to remove the part, but you direct us to tear it off like that with no explanation, so I figured that's how it's done. Now I've gotta find another junker to salvage the part from, when I had a perfectly good one right here. #TEACHER FAIL

      Playing cards are all so much cheaper than business cards. I can get a pack of 52 playing cards from Walmart for about a dollar and sometimes they're on sale for buy one pack get one free even if they raised the price to $2 it's still a dollar per pack. If I buy 10 packs of playing cards that's probably around at most 30 bucks and I have 500 Minimum. If I bought double that it's still cheaper than $135.

      I would suggest that more heat would make it easier, I typically do this phone around 300 C, just have to be careful because if you stop moving it can go bad quickly. Makes the adhesive a lot easier to work with, in 20-25 repairs i've only had it go wrong once due to heat.
      Also thanks for the video, we just started receiving replacement parts for this phone, in the past we had only been able to harvest displays for this device and your video answered a question I had about the sub-frame removal.

    This is why I don't agree with your "make a customer sign a waiver" policy.
    You manhandled this phone the entire time, then, when you miraculously changed the charging port to some extent, you decided that the, in most probability, functional part needed to be tested without waiting for the owner's password, and a 2 minute check at the time of transaction.
    I solely attribute your lackadaisical approach to the perceived fail-safe such a customer agreement offers.
    *Accidents can happen, I agree, but anyone who leaves their electronic devices into a repair store, should at least be covered from an employee's incompetence, which in this case was blindingly obvious.*

      I can almost see where the waiver comes from due to the nature of the phone, but there's a BIG difference between removing a display that is fragile and throwing a phone around while being a klutz. This video falls under the latter. It was 100% your fault and the customer should not have to pay for something you could have prevented i.e. properly securing camera so it wouldn't fall.
