  • This video is part of Lorrie Popow's collection of how-to demo videos from Pysanky at the Gardens, an annual event held for egg artists. This video was recorded at the October 2015 event held at the beautiful Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Featured in this video is egg artist and inventor Jennifer Kwong, who demonstrates her new Flat Pack Egg Rack. This is an amazing flat birch plywood invention that converts into an egg stand or rack, that you can use to dry eggs and display eggs. And check out her flat egg rest (or arm rest) made from the "scrap" pieces of her egg rack. These are such wonderful tools for every egg artist!

Does the varnish stick to the edges and build up like it does on the board with the nail?

+Felicia Salamendra-Dvornicky Felicia, Jennifer tells us that she made this egg stand for her cleaned out eggs, she wanted a stand that could be used to let her clean eggs dry. She didn't want to use the 3 nail stands. Because she has a small area she also needed the stand to store easy. This egg stand was not built for freshly varnished eggs. If one were to put a varnished egg on the stand it would end up being varnished to the stand. This is a drying rack for cleaned out eggs. Or like you see in the photo a stand to hold many finished eggs.

It's a very creative and unique design. I like it. Where can you purchase one?

+Lorrie Popow I have a ? about the nail stand... how does the varnish build up? I have been using the same (home made) stand to remove the wax as well as dry varnish for 15+ yrs and the nails have never come into contact with either one yet. and why only 3 nails on a board? mine fits a baking tray and has about 2 dozen nails. I am confused lol

+Judith Brummett I'm a bit confused now. I'm not sure what you are asking about. It's early, I need a cup of coffee. All I can say is that Jennifer has made a nice egg drying stand for eggs that have just been cleaned. This stand is not for varnishing eggs. This item is just a new idea for those wanting to dry many eggs, and also when done can can fold it up and store it in a small space. This isn't to replace any home made item you already have and like using. It's for those that don't have such items.

I tried to find the site: Incredible Eggs facebook ..... and all I get is Incredible Edible Eggs. I don't think that's the right site.
