Who else is here in 2020 I've known this man since I was born, its so emotional for me but his music will always play in my heart,May you rest well Sir.The greatest in our generation. Salute ,
To those asking the meaning of this masterpiece. This song is a soundtrack to a Zim movie called Neria. Its a didactic movie that's set to expose cultural injustices that widows experience at the hands of late husbands' families particularly in Zim. It's about a widow Neria who lost her husband in an accident, subsequently his relatives possessed everything eg house , furniture, money, leaving her with nothing as he was the bread winner. Tuku in this song is basically consoling her. Traslation... "Neria don't be disheartened God is watching over you. Its not easy to lose a husband.. Death is jealous it separates loved ones.."...
I heard this song, sitting at a Java restaurant in Nairobi. I called one of the waiters to ask him who the singer of that beautiful song. That is how I discovered Tuku. From then on I would listen to his music every evening. Then one day, travelling to Dakar, I was at Java restaurant at Jomo Kenyatta airport, Nairobi some guys came to ask me if they could take the seats at the table where I was sitting alone. I said sure and they went to get their colleagues. What a shock or was it astonishment? Tuku was the guy they were getting a seat for, with his team. I was just Boucher bée. I had to shake his hand and soak the moment. Rest in peace Tuku. You made us proud.
Yes Warue, and we would talk of this with you one time and laughed it out out. I met him at Safari park in the Plan International dinner for the Because I am a Girl Campaign. He was collaborating with Suzanna Owiyo on this project as the brand ambassadors. I queued with him and we talked briefly. He was such a humble and amiable guy. Rest in peace Samanyanga. Your music is just deep.
This song brought changes to the Zimbabwean justice system against Widows and how in-laws treat them when a spouse dies. Anyone remember how the law was changed post this song and movie to cater to Women who have lost their spouses and prevent financial and material abuse from their in-Law’s. I was widowed in 1999, I remember this song like yesterday. Thank you Tuku for standing up for women’s rights.
It was such a beautifully depicted and sorrowful story. I have never cried that much watching a movie. So grateful for the changes and men who stand up for women's rights.
My mother passed away a few years go, this song to her meant everything, in good and in bad time she would always hum the song or play it... Back then i didnt understand what she was doing and why, but now I do, from the song she obtained strenght and hope, she found peace and closure... All the memories i shared with her came back as i heard it for the very first time in years.. I salute you Oliver... Thank you for allowing me to find closure...
Nelson Feni thats deep man feel ur pain. I am always reminded by a saying l saw one some bones at a Capucian house in Rome: what you are l once was and lam you shall be. We all live on borrowed time what counts is what we do and live behind. Your mother l have no doubt is proud of you.

I have been listening to all African classics and have learnt that as Africans we are united by our music, comments from Namibia, Botswanq, Angola, Tanzania, Zambia to Cameroon teaches me one thing that we are one
The Zim government did well by declaring the man a national hero at the time of his death and gave him a state sponsored burial. The man truly was a hero and his work will live for many generations. His music makes me a proud Zimbabwean #DrTuku

YES WHEN ITS TOO LATE
I have been listening to all African classics and have learnt that as Africans we are united by our music, comments from Namibia, Botswanq, Angola, Tanzania, Zambia to Cameroon teaches me one thing that we are one
The Zim government did well by declaring the man a national hero at the time of his death and gave him a state sponsored burial. The man truly was a hero and his work will live for many generations. His music makes me a proud Zimbabwean #DrTuku
Although they never supported him when he was alive.
I would like to thank my Dad for allowing me to listen to this song great motivation RIP MY MUSICAL HERO.

Music truly is a ladder for the soul:) One of the most beautiful and touching songs I have ever heard! The furnace of life's increasingly difficult tests is producing beautiful gems such as this song...
