Great video as always Jill. I just worry with Google that they’ll kill off support like they’ve done with so many other projects. They make me nervous!
Google Keep is here since 2013...so it is sort of established. And used by many users. Uncertainty is with every product. Who says that e.g. Notion will be here in 5 years? 🙂
Hi Jill…finally a Google keep user!! I love keep and have been using it for over 4 years now. I also use MS To Do but there is also friction due to the web version being sub par. Keep is consistent across my devices. iPhone, Samsung tab, and work pc laptop.
I love this video! I just moved my 700+ Apple Notes to Google Keep (for short term/actionable notes) and Google Drive (long-term archives and storage) recently as well. There has been much less friction for me with these apps than Apple Notes. I have also created a "Hub" document in Google Drive, which has been very helpful for keeping track of physical inventory and linking to all my digital tech, whether those are medical records, lease/insurance docs, various productivity apps, etc. Trying to get organized before my first baby is born next year 😄 I'd love to see a video someday about your "suite" of productivity tools!
Good to here a Northern Ireland accent here Good video i looked at this keep back at the start im going to jump back in following your reveiw well done
I found both apple notes and google keep not suitable for main personal information system and suitable only for ephemeral notes with short lifetime or as inbox which has to be processed later like with readlater tools
For years i've wanted to get into google keep but it didn't make sense. this simple system akes it make sense. I hit the same challenge with tech stack. I have been an apple user but ended up with a pixel and needed to move from apple notes. I've been using Upnote as alternative, but for quick ideas theres more friction then needs to be to use it. THanks for the google keep idea!
That's great! But I use Apple Notes on my iPhone and Mac for quick captures. I have a shortcut to open a note, and I can easily save screenshots, voice notes, and links. Later, I transfer them to Obsidian or Things 3.
Nice! 👌 that sounds like a good set up. What helps you make that decision when you hit the point of transfer to either obsidian or things 3? How do you decide which one to transfer your note to? Curious to know if it’s a simple decision?
I find that it isn’t as nice to use for quick note taking on the mobile and I have the joys of two step authentication with my work account 🙈 which creates more friction when I don’t want it.

@ Fair point 👍🏻
Yes, I try not to think about that. Glad you enjoyed it Mark. Your channel is doing so well!!

I’m trying to streamline this suite myself. I find myself trying new things and I would like to find a stable sustainable suite that is 👌

And thank you. There’s not many of us.
I’m years down the line with Google Keep. It’s simple and brilliant!
I think its simplicity is what makes it so good.
Does the Keep extension only work in Chrome? That’s been the dealbreaker for me. Oh, and export features.

I hear you. And glad you got value from it.
Do you still use Microsoft OneNote? Great video as ever!
Nice to meet another keep user. So underrated. But don't you use any tags?
I’d love to know how to use tags to my benefit. Any tips?

Nice video, but if you already use one note for work, why don't use it for personal notes?
