Worst Possible route to the final for Ireland if they top Pool A: SA, Australia and NZ . If that happens then no just can’t see Ireland winning all those 3 back to back.
Best possible route: SA, Wales, England. If they were to beat Springboks in a massive QF there would be a lot of battered bodies and emotionally so drained getting to their first semi. Wales in the semis looks easy on paper, but then with both teams wanting to reach their first final; another massive physical/emotional game for either team. Then If they were to beat Gatland and co. England in the final? Yeah again easier than facing the ABs on paper but another tough game to win for either side.
Conclusion is either route would be so tough to beat those sides back to back over 3 weeks. England won the RWC 2003 beating Wales, France and only just beat Australia. That England side were the number 1 side in the world going into that RWC and had consistently beaten all 3 SH sides home and away (ABs beaten them once away). This Ireland side are not as good as that England side IMO.

You could still win without him, absolutely.

Irish rugby media getting seriously ahead of themselves. Never made a world cup semifinal. Beaten NZ once in their 100 plus year history. Win world cup? Piff

Dan Mcgivern it's only the media, most Irish fans don't expect us to get to win it and if we got to a semi or the final most would be happy with that. That's not to say we can't win it, but it's looking pretty unlikely

Ireland are the #2 team in the world right now - worse teams have won the world cup before - no one is saying they will, instead people are thinking it could possibly happen, which is hardly getting ahead of anything. Quieten down now kiddo.
