Love that tank,I was just telling my buddy I wanted to switch over to that driftwood and, stone look, but, with darker substrate, light on the scaping, and, then I see this...Nice 👍🏿
Wowwwwwww!!! One of my favorite tanks on UA-cam. Amazing!!! My vote for the 75 would be Africans! Peacocks and a few smaller haps. Plenty of color, super fast moving, and you can get some fairly small ones at about 3 inches and they will grow up nicely in there. My group of up to 20 fish did great in my old 75👌🏼
@@CichlidBros The only reason why I’d say to do it is because you’re pretty meticulous in how you keep your tanks, and I’ve always had success with them by keeping up with water changes and just keeping them well fed while living in clean water. There is no match color wise for an African Cichlid tank....Some salt water set ups, but none in the fresh water game unless your taking giant 400 plus gallon tanks that are full of Vieja...I’d say give it a shot, your bro has already had extreme success with his Predator Hap tank and can always lend a hand👌🏼
Love it! I used the same sand for my son’s tank. I also used about 4 bottles of that turbo start when I cycled my 125 gallon tank but I was too chicken to put all my fish in right away lol!
Currently have 2, 125g acrylic all male cichlid tanks. Love your vids. Cichlids are the only fish to have IMHO...Love the green terror...Thanks for the vids...
Another South American theme tank to go with some of the others, you could do a huge school of rummynose or silvertip tetra, a bunch of either apistos or rams, and a few angels. Fully planted, doesn’t take a lot of maintenance so it’s perfect easy tank for a classroom.
For a 75 I totally suggest an oddball aquarium I think would be amazing, some of the oddball fish are really interesting and I think your students would definitely find it fascinating.
Love it! For the 75, I'd look into an African cichlid set up. Colorful, somewhat fast moving fish that may attract the eyes of your students or create a bio type...maybe amazon or Asian theme. Great for learning about environments
It reminds of when I was in high school my marine bio teacher let us keep a pair of Convicts I’ve been keeping Cichlids ever since. Great stuff, keep it up. Have you guys ever kept some odd ball fish like spotted Raphael Catfish or yo-yo loaches? They go really well with CA/SA cichlids especially Raphael cats.
Id go with a tanganyikan set up for the 75; some julies or leleupi, calvus, gold ocellatus and paracyprichromis nigripinnis neon blues. It will look amazing and you can use it to teach your students about the diversity of lake tanganyika and how each fish has adapted to fill a niche. Plus its something different considering you already have SA cichlids.
I went from a black substrate to sunset gold as well and my jack Dempsey lightened up so much. Wonder why yours didn’t... I’m thinking of going back to the black substrate
Electric blue acra .Parrotfish. ,Angelfish .not too big silver dollars And believe it or not you can’t find us in the Midwest Michigan A rainbow sick quite beautiful I’m sure you can think of something else to add to this but the deep orange red and blue is absolutely gorgeous and A Black angel or half black you pick the color I like the platinum and the black adds the sparkly touch! And if you can find a beautiful Male Gold sickly when they come in to color they’re beautiful golden color with the black belly. A gem for sure Often overlooked her being a plan but they’re not At least in my opinion. Thanks for the beautiful video there’s only about three people I watch on the Internet and you happen to be one
I like to know the size of tanks you guys keep your fish in to better visualise my own. The upgraded tank for Joker and Jack is 5ft by 2ft by 2ft....is that not 150 US gallons and not 110? Not being pedantic I just need to know 😂
@@CichlidBros brilliant cheers, I've got similar dimensions and recently got myself a baby Jack.... thinking long term I may need a GT in there as well and raise them together 😀
Hello, you mentioned your tank is 5' x 2' x 2'. That is actually 150 gallons. Do you know the actual dimensions? It looks more like 5' x 1.5' x 2' tall which is about 112 gallons.
What do you do when school is closed? I've been thinking of doing a tank in my classroom, but I ran out of room in my house for any extra tanks over the summer break.
Im usually at the school during breaks coaching. Usually not away from the tanks for more than a few days and have auto lights and occasionally auto feeders
Not saying you went wrong at all but 2 200 watt heaters is a bit overkill if you have all that flow. I have one 200 watt in my 180 and it does the job perfectly. Just a heads up
I’d do what someone already suggested below and do some sort of tanganyikan setup with maybe caudopunks and some julidochromis, calvus, compressiceps etc...it’ll put your brothers monochrome predator hap tank to shame!!
I feel like u have or had aggression because there weren’t enough fish in the tank. Need some silver dollars or Congo’s to break up the aggression. I have a 75 with an needle fish Oscar Salvini convict and silver dollars. They’re great Idk just a recommendation:)
Loved the video man 👍 But I’m not gonna hold back. If that school REQUIRED you to wear a mask during filming vs threatening your job then I understand. I think the green terror is one of the underrated cichlids in the hobby. I have had them for years and they are great fish.
I agree - they are awesome!
You are strong. Two men lifting and moving aquarium with sand wood and water. I appreciate this.
I wish my teachers had some tanks in their classrooms. so awesome.

Love the setup and that beautiful GT
Thank you!
Amazing Fish 👍
Vey nice scape!! Love the fish as well!!
Thank you!
Great tank! The glass looks very clear even on video. Beautiful fish they seem more active with the extra space
Thank you - appreciate it!

Thanks Sean! Might be selling me on that idea. I’ve gone back and forth in my head lol

One of your best videos.
Thank you!
Awesome setup Bro
Thanks!
Very cool thanks for sharing 👍
Of course, thanks for watching!
Awesome Setup and Aquarium 😎👍 I'm starting a fish room and uploaded some videos 😁
What stones did you use specifically? What driftwood too? This tank is a real beauty.
Seiryu stone and driftwood from my local fish store. Thank you!
Beautiful
Nice video
👍👍👍
Thank you!
Beautiful tank and i think the convict also got a little color boost too
Thank you! She definitely likes the extra room 👌🏻
I love fish in general

That’s what I’ve been thinking - either african cichlids or a South American setup. Can’t decide lol
Green terror looks soo good
👍🏻👍🏻
Love the new tank and for the 75 I think you should go with discus
Thanks! Definitely on the consideration list!
Lovely
What stones and driftwood did you guys use?
Also, if I have a 48L x 15W, how much sand should I use?

That’s a good idea. I’ll probably consider it now with the larger tank. It was a little tight in the 75 before
How long did you wait before you added the fish in the new tank?
GT 🔥🔥
Sorry I forgot to say and your big tank a pink Convict male is a must
How did you attach the driftwood to the slate?
It came with the slate attached from my local store
A 75 African would be 😍
👍🏻👍🏻

How do you tell the difference between male and female baby blue electric jack Dempseys
Usually the dorsal fin being pointed (male) is the best tell for EBJDs
I went from a black substrate to sunset gold as well and my jack Dempsey lightened up so much. Wonder why yours didn’t... I’m thinking of going back to the black substrate
Yeah I'm happy that Jack has stayed dark even with the change. So far so good at least
You should get 1 baby oscar for the 75 (which can later join the 120 once grown). Great content!!
Good idea! Thanks for watching
Elliotti, geos, Chocolate cichild, rainbow cichild, black rams, or Texas cichild. Any of there would be great! Btw, where did you buy your wood.
Great options! I got the driftwood at Aquarium Adventure, one of my LFS's
I have a 80 gallon cichlid tank, ideally how many fish can I put in?
Depends on the type of cichlid! Smaller species could be kept in larger numbers
I have a 75 with a juvenile JD, what are some options for tank mates? My other 75 is a peacock tank definitely a great idea for your old 75.
Nice! I would recommend convicts, firemouths, severums, and electric blue acaras as options. Silver dollars potentially
Beautiful ❤️🔥 where you get the drift wood?
Thank you! I got it from my local fish store, Aquarium Adventure

I misspoke in the voiceover. But had text on the screen that showed the exact dimensions. Its 110 gallons

Yeah I misspoke, it’s 110 gallons roughly
Nm at the end you actually have the 5'L x 2' H x 1.5' depth like I thought. Thanks for the video. Fish look great!
Maybe some Tapajos, Steindachneri or Guinanacara Dacrya for the 75?!

Which light do you use
Current USA Satellite LED Plus: amzn.to/35AtjPI
Can I ask where you got your driftwood from
Sure! It was at one of my LFS's, Aquarium Adventure
Thanks for replying nice setup and can't wait to see what you stock your 75 with
May I ask where you order your drift wood from? I'm currently looking for a cool piece for a 55 gal and a 75 gal.

Won’t the sand make your JD go pale again?
So far he's stayed dark. Hoping since the sand is light brown it would have less impact than white
Add an Albino Oscar Severum and Eliioti Cichlid
Add Red Jewel Cichlid and Yellow Lab Cichlids in the 75 gallon which is empty
Good looking made aquarium, but one should consider wasting less water when setting up the aquarium.
Go with a native tank for the 75, easy teaching tool.
Paratilapia Polleni for the 75 gallon
Been wanting to keep one actually
Get some macaw cichlids for them tanks.
Shell dwellars, discuss, Mbuna, or white cloud minnows with similar cold water tank mates for the 75! The 125 looks pristine btw 🐠🐟👏✨‼️
Thank you! Solid ideas 🤙🏼
Maybe something not as common in the fish hobby. Maybe to highlight a different or not so known species. 🤔. My 2 cents...
Added to the consideration list!
Do you guys have a email address?
60 x 24 x 24 is a 150 gallon tank .
Sorry it’s actually 18 inches front to back
I got 1gree terro and 1jack d
Looks like a 90 not a 110
Well it’s a 110 so…
I had to separate my green terror and jack Dempsey because the terror was being a terror.
Green terror never lives up to it's name...
That ain't a "powerhead" - it's a circulation PUMP. No wonder beginners get confused.
They are the same thing
