This takes me back haha. It was a rough roller coaster. I remember when the GhostRider didn't have the rooftop n the parachutes were still there, cause the structure can be seen on the sky tower. Glad Cedar Fair took the time 2 restore the ride n got rid of the break run.
Love this ride but first time I went on I sat in the back and had insane whiplash, I'm just glad they're refurbishing it.
I love this coaster. One of my favorites.
Omg those baby trees are all grown up now
Your profile picture matches XD
WOW!!! I love those old wooden coasters that make you feel like you're flying out of your seat! AWESOME vid, man!!!! *big ass grin* :D
U mean airtime. I agree that airtime is better than inversions.
In 1999, I can't imagine just how smooth and amazing it was~~ This was THE RIDE for Knott's Berry Farm back then, and it still is now.
The thumbnail for the video is awesome!! The video definitely shows an entirely different attitude for the coaster than when I rode it two years ago. This is probably one of the coasters I'd like to ride on opening day once the time machine is invented.
1:50 I felt the slam at the bottom of that drop 23 years later just from watching this holy cow
Wow, that's crazy!
Yeah, I'm not sure I'd agree with that...
Theme Park Review same
1:43 makes you fly out of your seat, so intense x]
Crazy to think that 1999 is retro now! It's hard to believe that it was 14 years ago!
Add another 10 lol
Good times. One of my fav's! That one and the Titan kick butt!
Sometimes it's just worth the pain you'll be feeling the next day! The old Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas was that way. It rattled your teeth out, but it was worth it. They remodeled it in 2011, and it is amazing and smooth!
I grew up near this park!! I remember when I was like 6 or 7 and I rode in the back the first time!!! Talk about shaking, whiplash, and the fear of flying out!
Great Ride. Wish I was on it right now
Awesome. You seems to fly so much after the last big drop.
Wonderful ride, love it
wow, this is one of the best wooden coasters i've ever seen
Rode this when I was 11 in 2001. Scariest thing I had done up to that point. Now, it’s my favorite wooden coaster.
this ride hurts your head. i had a bruised back before i went on and it didn't even hurt my back. but your head will shake arounds
Thanks for posting this POV. I still have the photo from the first time I ever rode this around 2000, and what a great ride it was! We can all hope that they will fix this coaster to the way it was. It's unbearable now.
Just the sound of the wood creaking is music to my ears lol
Knotts effed this coaster up. They enabled the trim brakes at 1:41 to make the car make almost a complete friggin stop!!! It *was* the best part of the ride imo before that change.
I got insane whiplash when I was in the back they need to refurbish or make it smoother it was a horrible ride
GalaxyHollows The manufacturer, Custon Coasters International, made the coaster 6 months ahead of schedule, and the wood is old, and spends time in rehab about 4 times a year, or once every season. If Intamin were involved in the making, it would travel as smoothly as El Toro.
+GalaxyHollows Well, guess what? It's undergoing refurbishment right now. And, never sit in the back. That's my preference.
+Jeremy Barker The refurbishment will include the track going under the GCI knife (I think), steeper drops, removal of the middle course brake run, a smooth, magnetic final brake run, and most importantly, new GCI millennium flyer trains! I truly cannot wait!
it looks so weird without the roof on the drop.
tHIS RIDE IS AWESOME
To be fair, this coaster is nowhere near as good or as fast today as it was in 1999.
Now it’s good because it’s retracked
@@nikotheghostrider I agree. When I went for the first time since it was retracked, my dad thought the ride was going to be super bumpy and then me & my dad was surprised when the ride was pretty smooth for it's age
@@themeparksofamerica Yeah and honestly, I think the roughest row is the middle, the back was surprisingly very smooth, the front was very smooth too.
Wow it looks so different
yes it is!
How does the re-opening footage have more views than the footage from opening year?
Ghost rider looks naked with out the cover at the drop
This ride desperately needs topper track...
+xXNeonGamingXx No, they didn't.
@@JGuy97 this comment did not aged well.
@@ghostriderfanboy6618 I don’t even see who I was responding to anymore, so I have no idea if my comment is actually outdated.
Where's was the roof thingy in 199?
Insane !
Lots of head choppers. Gave me a neck ache watching it, but I'd ride it in a heartbeat!
Have you been on the Rattler roller coaster at Cliffs Amusement Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
They need to get rid of the mid-course brake for at least a day just so you can feel how intense/sickening that drop is.
Circa 1999 Ghostrider was one of the best if not THE best woodie on the planet. I really hope KBF decides to do a major refurb to bring it back to it's former self. Could you imagine the swarm of coaster enthusiasts trekking to SoCal to be able to ride this beast again.
ToyFan And look what happened
Where's the thingy at the top?
what did they do to it?
1:44 - 1:54 was the most crazy awesome 10 seconds of coastering ever!
wickedphant0m It's a little bit slower now at this point and beyond because a brake now stops the train at the top of the hill before it drops. It's still very fast but not quite this fast.
cricketrecords Ya, they made the brake engage and slow down the back half to try and lessen the number of injury complaints the park got from the ride.
+wickedphant0m
Luckily they are refurbishing it and along with it being smoother knots announced that they are removing the mid course brake run
The ride is better than ever now. Hope you all are doing well.
Wow. It looks amazing in 1999! They need to work on this ride more.
They reworked it
When did you last go? For Windseeker?
1999 was an amazing year because I was born !
I remember I almost died on this ride. SO INTENSE!!
Pouring one out for a great ride that didn't stand the test of time.
Looked like a great ride! Sounded like the coaster's wheels could use a shot of WD-40 though! lol
Why did it stop
I think Europe has some amazing Wooden-Coasters. Colossus @ Heide Park, Troy @ Toverland, Woodan @ Europa Park and also small Parks like Tripsdill and Plohn have some awesome Coasters. OK we also have shitty ones like Bandit in Movie Park or the worst Woodencoaster i ever rode: Coaster Express in Parq Warner (the other Coasters are awesome)
You should go to Alton Towers or Thorpe Park in England.
my favorite ride =O
When did the "Wheee" first develop
1999? Unbelievable! It must be so much fun. Is this thing still working?
Same
Yeah I think part of the reason is that they added a really lame brake section at around the 1:41 mark. It really slows the ride down and doesn't give the wild and out of control fun experience that it used to. WTF KNOTT'S?!!!
Its alot different know with braking points and a roof on the beginning chain lift. It looks way smoother on this vid.
Hey, where is The Stapler at? Really should have had Heather in the video.
wow 1999 when it was brand new back then i think
Aw, back when GhostRider was fun.
It is fun again!
how? why?
Glad they fixed it....
Was this coaster painful
Wow, how the mighty have fallen.
Thats true the USA is the Land of the Wooden Coaster.. my Country Switzerland is the Home of Intamin and B&M... i prefere Steel over Wood, but the new intamin Woodcoasters and GCI are awesome. Never bin on a Gravity Group one :(
I've heard many coaster enthusiasts state that this coaster is too rough.. "The worst 2 minutes of my life" one said, because it is so rough. It's a shame, because the design of this ride is great but you don't want to feel physically injured from riding it.
+Gra Piken Theyre actually fully re-tracking and re-training it right now! Im very excited to ride it after.
I wish they could completely retrack Thunderhawk at Dorney Park. New trains and a repaint wasn't enough.
It was not always like this, ride it again in a few days and its really smooth, just like it was built yesterday
This looks just like the one at six flags....the viper
idk what to do...if i ride it will be my 1st wooden, umm not pleasing, or not ride and miss out on a ride i won't get on in another 4 years... if u want to comment, comment before tuesday because dats when im going
Revenge is fun BUT THIS RIDE IS THE BOMB
This ride was probably my worst experience with a roller coaster ever, wooden or otherwise. If you ever do go on here make sure you're not in the back. Bruised like crazy and almost got whiplash!
I agree. But if you sit in the front, you start hyperventalating and laugh your ass off.
+NukeXKiller2013. Lol
Alfred Quijada This is the best ride to be high on. But in all seriousness, the ride shakes so much that you intake too much air which causes hyperventalating. The reason NOS is laughing gas is because it contains more oxygen than normal air. The more oxygen you intake, the more you laugh. That's just a bit of useless information to impress a girl I guess, so you're welcome.
I loved how rough it was! Even when I was younger lol
haha mee too!
goddamit this is insane XDD
Ahh, good old fashioned lens flares...
i went on this a few summers ago , it brused my ass.
Europe has Balder, Colossos, Tonerre de Zeus, Troy, Thunderbird and Freizietpark Plohn's El Toro, all of which are better than Ghostrider.
Easy ride soo fun tho
very uncomfortable ride D: I hurt my waist riding it..
I rode this last month it fealt like I broke my back
Its a shame GCIs re-profiled MCBR drop is super lame compared to the original.
Wdym? You still get insane ejector coming off that drop, it's still nuts
Dude it’s still intense it felt like my stomach was being ripped
Wooden coasters are supposed to be rough that the purpose of the ride
Actaully when this first opened it was very smooth. The reason it became rough was due wood expanding and lack of maintenance. Now with this re-opening in a few days it will be back to its former glory
So airtime, laterals, positive G’s, near misses, and smooth transitions are all totally irrelevant as long as it’s nice and rough?
They aren't supposed to be rough?
They don't want to scare people away...
Thats not the purpose. It just happens that wood coasters often happen to be rough, because of the structure. Other than that, they have the same purpose as steel coasters, other than inversions.
CoolNerdTV Ikr lol it’s like saying a bed is supposed to be uncomfortable
Well, yes America does have better wooden coasters. But my point is that Europe has a lot of good wooden coasters other than Wodan, the original comment was suggesting that Wodan was the first good woodie in Europe.
Don't they care about this ride, I know that they aren't Kenobles who seem to care for their woodies, but they ain't no Mount Olympus who don't give a single fuck about their woodies and I GAURNTEE that after the dumb Hades 360 (which BTW is the lamest name for it, what about Hades Revenge or Wrath of Hades transformation is done, it'll go to shit in no time, to the point that even the Timberliners won't help. But it brings me to the point, don't they care about Ghostrider, instead,
I've heard all about this coaster's sad decline from Robb and others...is it just me, or are modern wood coasters just destined to age poorly?
lol... woodies...
This ride is just asking for the RMC... SO many spots where they could add over banked turns. They could steepen they drop and make it smoother, oh man!
Oh f*** that's bad
but america has better coasters..
