    Hello everyone! I honestly didn't expect to get so many views on this video. It's taken me by surprise a little bit, so thank you all for watching! I post a little schizophrenically on topics that interest me, so I hope you consider sticking around for other videos I have cooking. If not, thanks for stopping by anyway!

      Agreed, pewdiepie always evolved his content, changed depending on what he felt like doing at the time and got his audience to embrace the change, he’s had a hit in every era from playing scary games, to dancing on top of his car during his edgelord phase, to reviving Minecraft and battling big channels for number 1. He’s the model to be followed, there’s a reason he’s stayed king all these years and it’s well deserved. I remember being in elementary school when I first heard of him and over the years, now being 20, I’ve always been able to come back to his content, and happily watch what he was currently making. And I think that applies to teens and adults, I’m glad to see he’s moved to a place he feels at peace and he bouta be a father. He’s uploads vlogs now cuz he wants to, and his fans r happy. He stopped involving himself in the mainstream UA-cam-twitch bullshit n the man seems to be doing great. He’s not here, today, apologizing over the bridge situation or the fiverr situation, because every gets it, it’s over, let it be done.

      @@HunterBidensHandgun Agreed. Stagnation would mean that he'd still be creating the same "edgy content" which would be preferable to the wet sock he is now.
      I have no question that Idubbz's changes are due to his "wife", she has humiliated him publicly during interviews and made fun of him, expressed 0 interest or "love" towards him (We have an interview of her looking disgusted while saying that Idubbz looks like "white trash"), and all I see is her making use of his corpse to become famous. Idubbz has said that "everything is his fault and his wife is a saint who has been for him all the time" while in the past they confirmed that "it was Anisa's idea to go to the girl to say the n-word" - there's hypocrisy and I have no question that Anisa has brainwashed Idub so that "all the issues in the relationship are with him and that she's the victim of everything" (which is the standard way that ppl like to brainwash the real victims - for example airsoftfatty was also brainwashed/gaslit a similar way).

    That point "adopting new political beliefs isn't maturing" is so lost on many people today, particularly Americans, for this reason I really don't like the terms "woke" or "redpill" cause the implication is that someone has an enhanced state of consciousness just cause they adopted a bunch of lame surface level political beliefs

    This video is great. I have been thinking this for sooo long.
    I always hated hearing people use "growing up" or "maturing" to describe conforming to the easiest opinion to hold.
    Especially when people (such as the sidemen) immediately apologise for something so obviously done without destructive intent. HAVE A BACKBONE!
    Growth isn't about trying to please everyone, but about being secure in your own beliefs DISPITE how anyone else feels. Old Idubbz was this, that is why we loved him.

      @cyferki123 Рік тому

      You do realize that it does take BACKBONE and guts to present this stance publicly when a huge chunk of your audience is edgelords?
      You do realize that iDubbz is not trying to please everyone and does show security in his own beliefs by risking the growth of his channel by presenting his views?
      The amount of irony in your comment is amazing, honestly.

      @@cyferki123
      You have a point, he hasn't made his life "easy" but, the takes he holds today are easier to hold than the ones he used to hold (such as about slurs). Especially in the context of the social circles he involves himself in, the current climate of the internet, and all the pressures on being a public figure.
      "HAVE A BACKBONE" was in reference to the Sidemen who: held a day long shoot (didn't see any issues), had creative input in the editing process (didn't see any issues), all reviewed the final cut (didn't see any issues), then pressed upload (not seeing any issues). Only for the video to be met with outrage from some people on twitter offended by the use of a slur.
      The Sidemen immediately took the video down and issued an apology about how their actions were unacceptable and they were all so ashamed.
      If you can't tell they obviously don't believe this, they knew their intentions and thought the video was funny. I wish they just honest and didn't "break their backs" as soon as they were canceled, realizing anyone trying to cancel them isn't worth thinking about.
      I never said Idubbz was trying to please everyone. It was an overarching view on maturity, as was the entire comment.

    Well said. I also think he’s translating his own self doubt and self loathing into a disgust instinct of both his old content and by reflection his fans. Most of his fans are like you and me who enjoyed the message behind the critiques and bombastic comedy. We weren’t alt-right racist bigots hiding in the basement and neither was he. But he’s convinced that’s what he was, convinced he’s responsible for his fans, convinced his fans must have been terrible because he viewed himself as terrible. No one would have a problem with him moving past his old content (like Joji, like pewds, like max) if he just went and did it. The problem is that he’s morally grandstanding (ironically something he said he shouldn’t have done in reference to his old content). At some points he straight up said his fans are incel bigots that need to learn empathy and grow up. Making claims about the morality of his old base and saying that anyone who disagrees with his newfound sensibilities are hold “tired old views”. That’s the problem, because we aren’t what he characterizes us as and we are the reason he’s so successful. It’s insulting and frankly sad because the insult comes from a place of terrible self loathing that he reflects onto everyone else. He refuses to be charitable to his old self and by reflection is fans.

    I think perhaps the biggest indicator that this is change and not growth, is that Idubbbz only disavowed all his old content when he got called out for saying a lot of the same sorta shit Sam Hyde says now, and that banning FroggyFresh from creator clash for his association with Sam was completely hypocritical and clearly because of his girlfriend.
    Idubbbz went full Will Smith basically.

    @edwarddieser282 Рік тому +1

    I think the root of your critique makes sense. Being edgy can be used in a positive way to challenge social norms and what society values. What's important however is how you direct your edginess. Andrew Tate talking about abusing women is edgy because it challenges the societal norm that women are human beings that deserve respect. Hasan Piker saying America deserved 9/11 is also edgy because it challenges the normalized idea of American Exceptionalism. The difference lies in the underlying critique. Andrew Tate wants to push back against women's rights and does not view women as equals. Hasan wants to push against American imperialism and the destruction of other sovereign nations due to American intervention. A white guy saying the n-word is edgy because the n-word was used to dehumanize black people and therefore using it is an inherit endorsement of that idea, so the position of all of 'it' is ok or none of 'it' is ok lacks the nuance of what 'it' is.
    Your ideas about equality are also slightly skewed. Ideally in a post racist society where nothing in the past affects the future the thought that everyone is treated equally is good, but that's not the society we live in. It's a given that your spawn point in life gives you advantages. If you come from massive wealth then your opportunities in life are far greater than some one who grew up below the poverty line. Add in the fact that historically the systems were set up to favor a certain gender and race, then it becomes easier to understand why certain groups become marginalized. That's why idubbbz and H3H3 have grown. They've come to realize that they should focus their edginess towards groups who have historically had power i.e. punching up rather than punching down.
    When Ethan says "Bomb the NRA" everyone loses their mind, but America bombs Afghanistan and Iraq regularly and that's been normalized. Why is that? I'd argue that the NRA has been a more deadly force in the United States than any middle eastern terror cell by making sure every depressed white teen has access to a weapon designed to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time.
    Ethan is kind of a dumb guy he'd tell you that himself. He likes stupid humor and making dumb jokes. He doesn't argue with Crowder in good faith because he knows he isn't good at refuting points. He is also aware of this. He used the Crowder interview to expose how Crowder doesn't enter debates in good faith either. Crowder just looks for easy people to dunk on and will duck people who can actually refute his talking points. (Also "life's to short to exercise" is clearly said in jest).
    Also You missed the point in the Froggy Fresh video, by a lot actually. He's not smearing froggy fresh because froggy fresh doesn't like sex work. He's explaining why he removed Froggy Fresh from the card. He very clearly in that video said it wasn't about Anisa it was about Froggy's involvement with Sam Hyde, which is pretty reasonable considering all the shit Sam Hyde has said about Idubbbz, Anisa, and Sam's ties to the alt-right.
    TL;DR: the growth idubbbz and Ethan experienced was not about how childish they were but about how there worldview has shifted to include nuanced perspectives about how their words affect people.
    Overall good video you articulated your points well, but your conclusions leave a little to be desired.

    What's most insane is that people think others hating on Ian has anything to do with the n-word... That's not AT ALL why people are upset. People are upset because he's a crybaby who let Hyde get underneath his skin, took his WIFE'S last name, and let himself get Yoko'd. People are upset that he doesn't have a spine anymore... not that he's not screaming the n-word.

    It's interesting that through his content, Idubbbz's close peer, Joji has really transformed into something a million miles away from Filthy Frank or Pink Guy. He decided one day to direct his attention to something else, end the chapter he was on and progress into a different career. Pink Guy and Filthy Frank still remain in the space, but his growth as an artist/creator has evolved. Fans of his can see the evolution with some of his Pink Guy projects, despite a lot of the early tracks being vulgar and memey, the later music showed this creative progression, like The Prophecy Pink Guy video and music project.
    Pewdiepie's growth on UA-cam has been extraordinarily, and he's had his fair share of controversy over the years. He apologised for his mistakes, and actively grew from them. He feels genuine.
    Idubbbz feels like a content creator who stopped making the videos he was good at, he was critical and satirical, yet, his apologie video feels like he isnt aware of the satire or comedic irony at all. When he was releasing content cop he was in his mid to late 20's, already fully mature as an adult. The recent change feels more an appeasal to the UA-cam rules, and overall 'new' Idubbbz lacks geunine feel of his older content.
