    I own a vlx 600 myself and I’ve found it hard to find videos for my specific bike please post more. If you can post a video on replacing the front seals in the forks I’d greatly appreciate it and tuned up, brakes, etc

      Yeah I noticed with these every instructional video looks like they are learning as they go which I can do my fucking self. I guess the best solution is to be less lazy then them and just jump in and do it. But be more lazy then them by not recording and uploading to youtube lol.

    How many miles did it take to wear out the sprockets to the point they needed to be replaced

    Curious,I’m about to replace my chain on the VLX600 the manual specifically states “CAUTION - a drive train with clip type master-link must not be used” in bold letters. This is Not a comment to down this video at all, because it’s greatly detailed visually and auditory wise directions. I just want to know if you know why they state that ? Can it damage anything over time or ? Thanks in advance for any knowledge on that.

      I am told a rivet type is much more secure and comes factory but many claim to be running a clip on with no problem. Some say the clip type is unreliable because the clip can fall off and the chain could damage shit. Guess it is just a gamble. I do keep a clip type in my tool kit in case in a pinch if I lose a link I can fix it on the road without a special tool.

    Great video I want to change my back sprocket to a 40 tooth instead of a 44 tooth to get me more speed what u think about that

      I run a 38... bike does highway speeds no problem... q little feathering of the clutch at take offs and loss of acceleration. But its worth it... I wasn't winning many races with the 44 tooth either haha.

    Howdo you remove the front sprocket cover?

    • @claytonbennett7797
      @claytonbennett7797 8 років тому +2

      There are two fasteners holding the front sprocket cover in place. On the side, there is an allen key bolt. From the top, there is a shaped-wire pin that needs to be pulled out.

    • @CIarkNova

      do you have to loosen the axel bolt to remove it?
      manual says yes, but in the video he says they did it before they started, and put it back on last.

    • @Slisktord
      @Slisktord 6 років тому

      Payton Robertson it's only 1 small bolt which u see from the outside and then it's a pin from the backside u just slide out with your fingers

  • @markkeller8342

    You make it look easy. Nothing is never that easy. I wonder why there is way more video of putting the chain guard on and off that there is removing and replacing the front sprocket and removing the axil. What size sprockets did you use? Did you break the cover taking it off thus leaving how to do it out?

    • @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306
      @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306 3 роки тому

      I think he said he used the wrong tool and stripped the bolt but it is just a cover, not critical and it is also secured with 2 push pin thingys and a top metal clip. Either way looks like he still got a bottom bolt in there.. probably force stripped it in but like stated it is not critical.. more just a decorative cover for the front sprocket and maybe prevent getting something caught in it or tear your pant leg off if a loose piece got in there.

    Did you need to jack the bike up to take the rear wheel off?

    • @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306
      @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306 3 роки тому

      Yes. Several ways to do it with a front chock and floor jack or get a bike lift from harbor freight around 100 bucks, Will come in handy for other mainatence too and oil changes.

    Replacing a chain used to be just unclip it and clip on a new one. Done. Nowadays you would think if you don't make it a process of researching all day and be told you will lose a leg or engine block we have to learn a new science it seems plus replace both sprokets and spend a benjiman on "special" tools. How come when I was a kid we just clipped on a new cheapest chain as possible in minutes and road for years and years like a bat out of hell with zero issues never losing a chain or leg or block? Just clean and grease it now and then big whoop.

  • @neggym

    Really !!! The force you seem to be using when fastening the bolt that holds the front cover is too much. It`s a 6 mm bolt.
