Mate, you need to put the master-link clip on in the correct direction.
The closed end of the clip should always be facing the direction of travel of the chain. (I.e. when the master link is on the rear sprocket, the closed end should face up and the open end should face down).
You need to remove the clip and put it on the correct direction before your bike removes it for you on the highway at 70.

In case anyone reads this, the service manual explicitly says to NOT use a clip type chain connection and to only use the rivet type connection.
Even RK advices against clip type as it is not as secure as rivet. Yes, you have to buy a rivet tool but it is worth it for the peace of mind.

Every motorcycle I have ever had has the clip style on it with no issues. Even the last chain the magna had, has the clip style.

Any noticeable noise from the non-rubberized sprockets? I found the JT front that is rubber lined like stock, but I got the regular rear like you did and I'm just about to put it together after replacing the tires. As far as the rear sprocket goes, any idea why the old one had that welded piece?

Not sure what the previous owner did. I think . Mine was a stock rear sprocket with an aftermarket front one.. and yes it's a little bit noiser.

Have you ever deviated by changing different teeth on front sprocket and or rear sprocket.
