I really enjoyed watching the progression of your sculpture. The music and the pace worked well for the video. I recently bought a pottery wheel, but am having second thoughts about whether I really want to put so much effort into practicing to end up being constrained by the wheel and whatever level of skill I happen to reach. Your work has inspired me to try a bit of sculpting. Thanks for taking the time to share your work and the process with us.
The wheel only seems constraining until you gain skills and vision to see it just as a tool. You can throw, then alter, cut, make darts like in dressmaking to create new shape and volume. You can join many thrown (possibly altered) parts as a composite form. Your work doesn’t have to end up round.
Thank you 😊 All my sculptures are fired. If you interested, you can visit my shop on Etsy (link in description of my channel) Currently I have some sculptures for sale, but I also can make a personal commission for you 🤗
I use foam to create and support the form while the clay is still soft, after the clay becomes leather hard I can continue to work without the support.

What type of clay are you using in thus presentation
I’m using P1511 Professional Architectural Handbuilding 900-1300°C
Amazing 👏👏👏👏
what kind of glaze? is it low fire?
Grogged stoneware was used and the was bisque fired at a temperature of 1240°C. It is not glazed.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Didn’t see how you went from one large open bowl shape to the huge curved shape and connected it to the other side!!!
