      I also wanted to mention regarding my 15 Negatives of Living in Panama video. I didn't do a good enough job there to more clearly state that those are mostly annoyances as opposed to true negatives. That video is not intended to discourage anyone from considering Panama as an expat destination but more so just to provide some balance and perspective on the reality.

    • @ChosenFewExpats
      @ChosenFewExpats  Рік тому +4

      Thanks again for your support. We do exactly that... deal with it. The dry season isn't very humid and there was a drought this year at the start of rainy season but now things have ramped up. I think you body adjusts to it over time. I don't sweat nearly as much as I did when we moved here.
      You just have to avoid being out for long periods in direct sun in the early afternoon. Otherwise, it's not too bad.

      Thanks for watching our video Kevin and for your comment. Housing will almost always be your biggest expense. Just like anywhere else, how much you spend depends totally on your needs and wants.
      You definitely get more for your money. You can rent a nice apartment near the beach for $800. You can rent a condo on the beach, a condo overlooking the bay in Panama City or really nice house with a pool near the beach for $1200. You can rent a home in a Panamanian neighborhood or in the mountains for $600 or less. You could also rent a $3000 per month condo. It's all up to you.

    What's the crime rate like

    • @ChosenFewExpats
      @ChosenFewExpats  Рік тому

      The murder rate is low, about 11 per 100,000 people for the whole country. That's on par with a place like Tucson, Arizona. By comparison, the murder rate in St. Louis is 66 per 100,000 people. There is a low rate of violent crime in Panama. Also, very few people own guns. It's mostly burglaries when people are away from home for long stretches or petty theft here.

      No concerns whatsoever. I've never heard anything about any abductions. In Colombia, yes but not Panama. Your only concerns for crime are petty theft if you leave your items laying around unattended or possible break ins if you leave your home unattended for months at a time.
      Panamanians are nice and generally treat foreigners well. We've only been well received. Being back, most Panamanians think we're Panamanians anyway.

      Abductions in Panama are nearly non existent....the case of the dutch girls was a different thing, with a lot of crazy theories going around. They went to a trail without a guide and they took a route that wasnt part of the trail (maybe they want to explore more, or they got confuse), at the ends, they got lost on the jungle and die there.Moral of the story, dont go to a forest/jungle alone, in a foreign country, without guide and decide to go out from the beaten path.

      Hi Marilynn. Thanks for watching and for your feedback. It's not encouraged by any UA-cam experts for content creators to sit with their forearms on a desk news anchor style.
      It is encouraged by those experts for people to be able to see your hands make occasional gestures. Pulling the shot back so you can see my hands and arms instead of just my shoulders and chest would help the correct the stiff look. However, I tend to prefer a tighter, facial shot.
      Thanks again for pointing this out. It's honestly not something I'm focused on. I'm focused much more on delivering truthful, beneficial content.
