I loved that Murdoch and Julia finally got together. It was truly my dream that they do so and both played the reserved, do the right thing so well and never be vulnerable. It made the whole series for me.
Just discovered this show this year here in Australia. Helene is so pretty and Yannick is gorgeous! Love those deep dark eyes. But the stories themselves are really great too. We watch it every week night! Love how Murdoch is a scientist/inventor too!

I love love this show BUT later series storylines are way too silly and don't make sense and drives you nuts how they drag and drag the relationship between Murdoch and Julia. I am on season 7 watching from acorn TV (free trial) and can't believe how much Murdoch has to put up to get Julia. My favorite of all the characters is of course George. He is such a delight. British and Canadian TV shows are far better than the American ones IMO.
So true and love Crabtree!! As for Murdoch and Julia times were tough back then. Usually they wanted you to marry the girl they wanted for you so at least he is getting the girl he wants, even though slowly. It's Crabtree I feel bad for not getting the coroner but we shall see.
She said in an interview a while ago that with the corset she wore onscreen she had difficulties breathing (obviously) and so at the end of her sentences she had to breath in sharp intakes.. I would guess the more she spoke, the more her voice would become high pitched from the effort.
That makes sense. I had no idea her corset was so tight. That is unnecessary, especially since she is a beautiful woman with a good figure. I've worn corsets in various shows, including ones in which I have done a lot of singing, and I had little trouble -- because they didn't lace me in to some extraordinary degree.
Murdoch Mysteries is without doubt one of the best TV shows available. Very interesting story lines, Excellent characters, good acting with a lots of humor. the make up and special effects, especially with dead bodies is very good. Murdoch Mysteries has the winning formula and I hope this show continues for many more years. I do agree with Sarah Downs comments that Helene Joy should speak in a more normal voice instead of that weird high pitched annoying voice. It's a shame because she is a good actress.

the original books are quite different; the show goes off on tangents the books never touch. Sometimes I think the stories are beyond silly and I wonder if the show hasn't "jumped the shark", so to speak. I'm from Toronto, and I've seen photos of the city around the turn of the 19th/20th century, and it was never that clean, or that 'nice'.
Love the show, but! sometimes the way Julia talks annoys me, it's like she always making inhaling and exhaling sounds. There is more I wanner say, but! just in case not everyone has seen all the episodes yet?

A "Sherlock Holmes" style story with a twist. A wonderful show with adorable actors. No wonder it has lasted so long.

That's how she plays the character? I can't picture Dr. Ogden with Helene Joy's normal voice.
