The intros where people blab on and on and then say, “If you’re interested in [subject of video] then keep on watching”...It drives me crazy!!! Obviously we’re interested because we clicked on the video but the long blabby cliche intros make me lose interest!
“i tried something slightly different and now i’m gonna do it every single time and it’s gonna be my thing i love it so much” me when i accidentally put a little too much blush on
me everyday except it's been getting progressively more and more "blushy" and I put it almost in my eye and today it looked like I got punched in the face. idk what's happening
I've learned more from her channel than all the others COMBINED! She is so good at explaining & showing us how!!! Looking forward to doing this new lower lash technique 🌻
I used to do my bottom lash line like that all the time. And people would make fun of me for it and say it didn’t look good. I’m so happy to see someone doing it.
Yeah, I think this looks really good with good lighting. I will try this when I'm working from home with a ringlight on zoom meetings. However, in real life I can keep the shadow minimal and near the crease line perhaps. Great technique btw!
Same! It’s so similar to what Marilyn Monroe used to do on her lower lash line, but my friend said it looked weird! Lol, glad it’s coming back into fashion. :P
Lady Alexandra. Having lost my hair, lashes and brows twice (fucking cancer) my lashes never grew back. I have learned so many tricks and skills here. Can't thank u enough. I wake up each day ready to try something new. Love each other people!! Each day is precious, be present.
The fact that you're calling back to old Hollywood makeup techniques is stinkin' cool. AND it always looks amazing. Anything I can try to make me look more like an old Hollywood glamour girl is much appreciated.
I absolutely love the lack of frills and weird editing or clickbait titles here. You are a breath of fresh air and pretty much the only makeup UA-camr I follow now. Thank you for your amazing and helpful tips!!
Green is such a hard color to find that doesn’t go brown. 😫 I love it instead of purple for my brown eyes but it’s so so hard to find a good dense pigment that stays vivid and doesn’t get muddy or almost blue looking. Such a hard color to get!
this reminds me so much of the way koreans do their make-up.. they call that lower lash space "triangle area" and they use it to give more dimension to their eyes
Your make-up videos are so refreshing! Nice and calm but still entertaining. I feel like there's this pressure for muas on youtube to be loud and extroverted 24/7. Normalise introverts and ambiverts on social media 😂
I dig this fishtail technique.. and holy hell, those lips are FIRE! You seem so much more confident in yourself throughout your many months contributing. Slay on, sis.
You really have a craft for dimensions. ❤️ I’d really love a video some time in the future of you applying your talent for that on other face/eye shapes.
I never noticed this technique when studying Marilyn Monroe’s makeup to try and recreate it but now in all of the photos I can see how it does create that shadow to the lashes effect! Very cool thank you for sharing! 🥰
Yup. When you look at almost every picture of Marilyn (with makeup on), there it is. She loved it. And I love that Alex gave the history and the credit of the look to her. Ah, Marilyn.❤️
I feel like this would be so cute for prominent / round eyes like mine! If you have that eye shape and are doing a corrective technique you'll be applying color to the lower lash anyway to push your eye back, but this helps to elongate the eye too not just upwards with eyeliner, but outwards with that 'lash shadow'..... can't wait to try it :)
Love this! Thank you for being so real and raw (please don’t ever change sharing that the way people often do after too much criticism). It feels like getting advice from a cool chick in the bathroom while touching up makeup, it doesn’t feel like UA-cam which is so refreshing. Also I use a lot of your techniques sketching and drawing eyes on different portraits. Your tutorials are double useful and much appreciated. Thank you!
I love how simple you make your videos and how fuss-free you talk. You talk to us like you would to a friend and that's what makes your videos special. Thank you for the tip, I might try it just to see ☺️
I’ve seen something similar done in Korean makeup a lot these days too, it extends the lower lashline and having a light colour/base colour separating the lower eye shadow and upper eye shadow makes the eye look bigger/longer
Once again you have nailed it my Queen❣️ didn’t know I needed to do this until just now☺️ Changing my life at almost 65. I wish we could all post a photo of us showing you looks you have inspired us to try. That would be fun to see.
I'm so excited to see you doing this technique because I have a natural indentation on my lower lashline and this is the only technique that looks flattering on my lower lashline
I’ve been using this technique for 20+ years & love it as much now as I did then. I was also inspired by Marilyn’s one & only beloved makeup artist Whitey. Cool to see it here with your take on it. Thanks, Alex! P.S. That pastel green eye look is seriously dope!
Hey Alex 🤟🏽 I doubt you'll see this as you must get thousands of notifications a day, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate being able to *see* what you're doing and see your *real* face in videos. Sounds like a given I know, but after watching several other "Beautubers" right before I started catching up on your videos, I realised how vastly superior the quality of your content is in comparison. I fucking love it ❤ I feel like you're right in front of me, crystal clear, lighting on point, sound is perfect, everything is just spot on. THANK YOU - your hard work definitely doesn't go unnoticed! Also, thank you for not filtering the fuck out of your face too👌🏽🙏🏽 Random fact: I always think of you as being British (like me💁🏼♀️). Even though you're not. Obviously. I don't know why I get that vibe, maybe it's because you're hella cool like us brits 😉
The thing I like about your channel is that some of these looks are too much for me but you always teach us good techniques so even though I wouldn’t use the same colours etc. I end of learning something and applying it to my own preferences:)
Another helpful tips coming from you as always! You're the only non-Asian makeup artist I can actually get advices from. I love how your tips are very inclusive regardless of race/eye shapes/bone structures...Thanks 🥰
I learned this from watching Korean makeup videos! Korean makeup is super cool and useful to find tips because they use all sorts of techniques that people in the west don’t normally do
This is my #1 under eyeliner secret; but as you mentioned, it's really an Old Hollywood makeup technique and most definitely made famous by the loveliest ever Marilyn Monroe. :) Loved this video and your genuine, kick a$$ personality.
This is FIRE! Also reminds me of your dude complete video. You did the brown-ish shadow under your lower lash line. It looks so natural because your eye is darker there naturally. Most of us have some coloration there so some form of darkness looks good. The color you applied in that video, melted into your existing coloring. This reminded me of that. There is nothing wrong with bright under eyes, but I much prefer this! My life changed when I learned lower eyeshadow! Gonna try this 💓thanks, boo
O m G I love this 😍 absolutely fabulous technique I can't wait to try it! You should do a series on old Hollywood glamor, like the icons. This is so insanely gorgeous 💋❤
omg this was my fave technique in early HS. I had a slight Marilyn phase, and even bought a tub of nivea creme bc that's what she used. Her makeup artist was so ahead of his time in terms of contouring and changing features, and his lipstick technique is INVOLVED due to how often she was filmed/photographed in black and white. Kinda like the makeup version of "TV Yellow"
I knew it was like the marilyn monroe thing in the other video but I've never seen it so bold like you did it. Marilyn's were always thinner. Very nice method.
cool! now I'm going to go look for a picture of Marilyn. By the way, when you put that first brown on, your eyes became absolutely mezmerizing! Beautiful!
Your channel keeps getting reccomended to me and I am so glad that I watched this video!! Love this technique and I am definitely going to try it out!! The end result is fire!!
That's so crazy, I was thinking about doing this kind of shape for the lower lash line as you can see some similar makeup for k-pop artists and then you are releasing this video. I am shooketh lmao 💖💖💖
I have only just found your channel and I love your eyebrows. I have been trying to find girls who have thicker eyebrows without them being too fake. I have thick brows myself and it seems to me that no one in the makeup channels likes them, even though in life everyone loves what I own, but I don’t know how to work makeup with them and have been very tempted in shaving them off.

I do this too! Sometimes just with eyeliner if I'm too lazy for all the shadow. Picked it up from seeing Kpop girls makeup.
Same...plus it hides the dark area of my eyes and makes it look more natural.
Your voice and your videos in general are so incredibly relaxing
I started doing a variant of the Marilyn lower lashline technique yesterday and today i see this, thank you life
I was literally just thinking this is like Marilyn’s technique!
Yes! I was looking for this comment! Now that I see a modern take on it, I might give it a try!
