Not true, they kill the cubs of the previous leader or of separate groups to force the mothers back into estrus so they become pregnant again sooner. Tons of mammals do this.

Semi true, I think. Most male offspring are chased off to either start a pride, steal a pride or die. Most die. One pride consist of one male and multiple females. 50% of babies are male. The math means most males die without ever having a pride or reproducing.
Also, if they challenge dad for his pride, dad will kill him. And males taking over a pride will almost always kill all young males.
The human males are not celebrating being "Not the father". They are celebrating being free of the mother. How many married men have you seen celebrating being "Not the father"?
So basically, postpartum depression in animal form.

I can understand why animals act like animals. If only there were such an excuse for humans. Yeah, from euthanizing their unborn to placing the baby in a garage bag dumping it, & even beating & torturing them to death. And NO WE ARE NOT ANIMALS so that is not why they do it.
