i just got my grom about a week ago and i accidentally downshifted to 1st gear from 4th (thinking i was in 3rd) going around 28mph all i seen was it be red lined to the max and then quickly shifted back up to second. What do you think would be damaged after that. It still runs smoothly the gears change smoothly and downshift smoothly so i don’t know if i should be concerned about it or not.
It’s called a mony shift because it can be a really expensive down shift😅 but you can always check your oil for sparkles if you not sure, should be good
Id do an oil change and cut the filter. All depends on those results. It's it's clean it's clean. If it's got metal you met Mr slappy valve. Then it's a question of how much damage to piston, cylinder, amd valve there was. It's a grom, don't sweat it. If it sounds good your probably fine. Still check your oil.
I'm 150lbs 22 grom I have Vince and Hines exhaust new vortex 38 teath with chain I do 63 mph no problem tucked I 66 down hill 70 max rev . Goin up a tooth you get more top end goin down tooth you get faster take off 😊
Don't think you need a remappe, it's a mechanical mod. With cars we change final gear ratios in rear differentials and we never retune. For top speed the Grom needs, intake, cam, exhaust and a tune. That combo is the best cost effective mod you can do to gain top speed.

I have 14 tooth same for the video and if you can see any wind, lose speed, and changed at 4 again... The 14 tooth its perfect for the second generation Grom. Only have a 4 gears and dont lose more power. 🤙🏻
@@ItalianMetalHED No, its in the coast, maybe 100mt to sea level. The problem its in the bike. Only have a 10HP and 5 Gears... The 5TH gear its only for autobahn, and not always for the wind or slope. If you really interested in change the tooth, is more better the second generarion. My friend have this bike and 14Tooth too, and its more stable in speed and its not necesary change to 3th

Valve float can cause bent valves holes in pistons dropped valves ruined cylinders like it’s not good
Should be fine. As long as you didn’t hold the redline only damage would be to your gears or sprocket. How has she held up?

How fast was it going before the sprocket change?
Same. Just gets there faster now. 60-63mph top speed
I do 70 no wind no tuck...only mods is Amazon exhaust

I got intake flash new cam and exhaust but if I change to 14 sprocket will I need it re mapped?

I have a 23 Grom and the speedo is way off with the 15t so I can imagine what the 14 will do. Its like 5mph to start.
