I have been growing about 20 plus varieties of Canna lily in the past decade. My favourite is Pretoria ,Its leaves are the main attraction , flowers are just bonus. I grow them in a mass, not mixing with other variety. Your canna lilies are great, but if you clean up the dead leaves and dead heading more often, they would look healthier and more beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I bought most of the cannas for the foliage too. You’re right I should clean up the dead leaves and dead head more. Some of them are getting too tall for me to reach now. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you, the Tropicsnna Black has the largest bloom in my garden. It has red flowers and dark leaves, I think you would like that cannna. ua-cam.com/video/_7e8uxkmuTg/v-deo.html
Your videos are always beautifull and interesting, thank you. You said you started Musaefolia canna from seeds, but I never saw flowers on these cannas in my garden. Have you flowers and seeds? I am also looking for Thai rainbow canna, are there flowers in your garden? I love canna x ehemanii because of the color of the flowers.
Thank you. I bought Musaefolia seeds from Karchesky Canna last year. The flowers are similar to the Russian Red, I'll put them in Fridays video. I harvested some seeds, but haven't got them to germinate yet. Send me an email and I'll send you some. The Thai rainbow hasn't flowered yet. I've never seen the ehemanii before, now I want it in my garden. I'm still waiting for the peach and elizabeth hedychiums to flower.
Do you have canna edulis? My generic canna indica plants have just begun flowering. They're short (under 4 feet) but considering they were dry seeds this April, that's not surprising. I planted 100 seeds and got about 80 plants; the question will be if they can survive the winter in USDA zone 7. Average winters fluctuate here between 70°F and 15°F (sometimes staying well below freezing for a week or two and then reversing with a heat wave). I might pull a few rhizomes out of the ground to store indoors, just in case. A lot of plants will try to grow in the heat waves during winters here, only to die during the freezing waves, and I would like a few canna rhizomes to survive, at least. Another nice video, and an interesting point about the rhizomes you've ordered online. Good warning. It's always nicer to get plants locally anyway; they're better adapted to local conditions. I wish more people in my region grew hardy tropicals, so I could swap plants that way.
I don’t have edulis, I love the foliage so I will try to add it to my garden. I don’t know if a rhizome can survive 15 degrees outdoors. The lowest last winter was 28 and they all grew back in the spring. I was experimenting with leaving rhizomes in a tray of water during the winter, but that was in my greenhouse and they grew great. ua-cam.com/video/VuOP9jfcRA0/v-deo.html This year, I will try it in water but inside my home and under a grow light. I can mail you some seeds in a couple of months, I have plenty to share.
@@Tropifornia I would love to plant some of your spare seeds! Do you have air potatoes or sunchokes in your garden yet? I would be happy to mail you some in exchange.
We live in the countries of the East, the temperature is so high that the trees are completely burned! Can I grow canna lily indoors? Note that I have had it for a week planted in a pot with only water
The highest temperarures are about 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius in my area. My Canna Lilies had no problems during those days. I have some growing in a tub with only water for the past 9 months. They look like they need more nutrients than just water. They grow better with lots of water in soil that always stays wet in the summer.
I don’t have experience with temperatures that hot. A pond would be perfect to grow cannas and elephant ears. Plus fish waste makes good fertilizer. I buried a tarp in my garden to hold more water and my plants grow better in that section. ua-cam.com/video/oJT7xgRMvuI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/6c81lQ8waqE/v-deo.html

Beautiful video 🥰 love all your plants 🙏🏼
Thank you, I love showing them to everyone!❤️🌴🌱
I love your cannas. I've loved cannas since my childhood. I don't have a favorite. I do prefer the cannas with larger blooms over the smaller blooms.

I have some Edulis growing here in 7a (North East Oklahoma) They can make it through the winter in-ground
Thanks for letting us know, 7a would mean they can survive 0 degrees F.
