Cannonball was filmed at Kingsway truck terminal in toronto. The truck was dark green. GM Canada donated the truck, and Fruehauf Canada donated the trailer. It was filmed in Oakville, mono mills, orangeville and hwy 50. They used a truck stop on hwy 9 west of airport rd too. The truck was sold after the show to Stone cartage Toronto. It hauled some steel for the building of the Gardiner expressway toronto for Stone cartage. It deteriorated in there yard in the 60s and was scrapped.

This is a fine example of EMS. Some of the techniques displayed were quite accurate for the time. The defibrillator requested (although badly pronounced) fore runner to the AED. The open-heart massage and the pumping of the arms (Hogler-Silvester method) was an early form of CPR. This coupled with the fact that the early days of E.M.T. was actually over-seen by the Department of Transportation, makes this episode quite accurate and very well-written.

This was a Great old TV Series that was the first to feature Truck's as the mainstay of a TV Program before others Series to follow like - Movin'- On and B.J. and The Bear around two decades later. There were actually two TV Shows that had "Cannonball's" as a focus point with the other TV Series being Casey Jones with his Cannonball Express, with both these opening Songs to each of these TV Series being stilled remembered by old kids like myself of those days. I always wonder why TV Networks lose some TV Series and not others for there are many of us that we would love to see again these Great Old Shows if only they could all be found.

The Cannonball or GMC 850 cab over was a navy blue color. They had a sign posting in front of it at the Golden Age of Trucking museum in Middlebury,Ct. The owner of it is from Maine. It was the original from the Tv series the museum operator told me. Identical right down to last detail. A single. Axle GMC 850 cab over with the sleeper on it as you might remember from the tv show. Ran like new still the owner drove it to the museum personally for six months consignment to display their most unusual trucks for the public to see at the museum. As you might imagine I couldn’t believe it to see it in person. Had to climb up into the cab and sit behind the wheel to get a feel of what it must have been like to drive it. I have driven big trucks in the past but this was the apple of my eye for sure. Fantastic truck for sure.

I was able to meet Paul Birch in Atmore, Alabama around 1967. His sister, Elizabeth Blalock had passed away and he was in town making the Funeral arrangements. A group of teen-agers went over to the house and met him. He gave us all his signature, which I have kept to this day. The movies he was in were always shown at the local Strand Theater in Atmore, Alabama. As he was from Atmore (a small Alabama town) and a television and movie star, his pictures were never missed by the local town's people.

Thanks for putting up these TV shows. Paul Birch was on many television shows and also in film, but his name is not known to the public. His voice and face may be recognized, but like so many excellent character actors in Hollywood, their names were not well known.
In the older days there was a wealth of great character actors in Hollywood, but I don't see that as being the case today.@@2wagondragon

I sat in the cannonball truck from the show at the Golden Age Of Trucking Museum in Middlebury,Ct. The identical truck right down to the same color. The cannonball was owned by someone in Maine that put it on display consignment for six months in 2002 at the time. Was a thrill for me to climb up in the cab and sit behind the wheel. I will always love this show and particular truck the gmc 850 cab over. Was very tight and confined cab to drive for sure. The museum said the owner drove it down from Maine and said it gets pretty hot in the cab for sure. Owner of the truck was doing 75 miles an hour down to the museum truck runs like new they said. Don Beaulac I am was a real thrill for me as you might imagine to experience this.
