I love real antique wood, i met those guys few years back when i was renovating my house. I put reclaimed oak flooring down and it looked amazing. They are always willing to help make your vision a reality. I love their showroom too. Great work here jonny boy.
Jon, thanks so much for showcasing this type of content. Not only is it Super cool to watch but, it also show cases portions of Jersey's History that a lot of ppl. across the US don't even associate with Jersey!!! So cool Bud, just like you!!! Dirty Jersey out!!!
Fantastic operation. It’s almost gut-wrenching to think of how many old barns and homes that were made of Chestnut, that were demolished without a second thought, and all the lumber hauled away in dumpsters 🤦♂️
Thanks John for sharing with us all. I love that wormy chestnut. I'm in the process of remodeling a 200 + year old house and had to remove a chimney that couldn't be lined. The base of it level with the basement was two 55" × 24" x 6" and they have become two beautiful tables. I used Wilbraham Drake Casting Massachusetts for the legs. I can't believe how dark it came out just using Waterlox it's absolutely beautiful! The only problem now is locating the material for the full size table and $750. for the legs. Stay safe!
Always sad seeing a building going down. But, reclaiming it all is just simply amazing!! Companies like this are great. I’d love some of that chestnut 😍
Awesome video Jon! Although I hate to see those old barns come down, I really like that the wood will be used to make other amazing things. BTW, you're a brave man getting up on that lift. Me & heights don't get along at all.
Can't wait to see a potential project video using some of that chestnut or oak! It'll be awesome to see the transformation and the new life that lumber gets! Great video as always Jon! Appreciate all of the knowledge sharing and content!
Fascinating show Jon. I've been waiting for this. Sad to see such a beautiful building go down. I always found when cutting stuff out like this 07:50 if you cut at an angle the piece will just drop away without trapping the saw or wedging against itself. Works for removing door/window frames too. Quite a skilled job taking it down carefully.
Great to see so much wood 'go round' again. Anthony makes that chainsaw operation look easy, but [having never used a chainsaw] I imagine with all those beams shifting under gravity there's a major risk of trapping the saw, etc. Shame the weather has to make tough going out of it. Cheers Jon, a very informative video.
Jersey has so many dilapidated barns like that one. Like they said, hate to see it come down but love they are giving the parts a new life. Have always wanted to visit RAW, they seem extremely hard working and true joisey guys. Do they have other crews around the country collecting wood, or is it just the two of them? great content thanks!
It's interesting to see how they take them down. Jon, you should snag some chestnut and do another table build, it would be a great video to show... you don't see a lot of chestnut videos anymore... that is, if they can give some up ha ha 👍
Hey Keith... yeah I felt a little funny not helping but these guys have a system and I just stayed out of the way and tried to get as much as I could on camera. Very cool project!
I grew up in an old farmhouse....they burned the year 1898 in the floorboards......I need it down. Has lots of red oak floor joists...hardwood floors.....big staircase. I live in southern Illinois and i can't find anyone that does this. Lots of original trim....case molding. Plz comment if u can help me out
These guys are lucky the whole barn did not cave in on them. They may know something about old lumber but not enough about demolition. At least some safety gear. The barn was well built so it saved their bacon!
I hate to see these come down, they were a work of art, but it was in poor shape, and some of them are being saved and turned into houses. but its really good the woods not going to waste people want it they like the look. Look it took the trees that made those 200 to 400 years to grow theeee barn might be 150 years old Gods got 350 to 550 years invested into the wood, if it can be reused then that's great it takes away from deforestation And gives our forest longer to recover so we will ahve trees for years to come. But its also funny the wood was worth pennies on the dollar for its original value, time has appreciated its value. but if you really think about it, all wood is antique some is just more aged then other wood.
Enjoyable video to watch. Must comment on dudes gigantic balls and total disrespect for OSHA required fall protection. Don't let no government agency tell you how to do your job. You go Bro!!!!
Interesting video but the dude with the chainsaw not wearing gloves and safety goggles or some type of eye protection is foolish. No, I am not the safety police. Thanks for sharing

Can't wait to see all the different wood cleaned up.
Awesome video. Nice seeing that beautiful wood be saved.
Awesome. Can't wait to see the projects.
Wow, that is not a job for amateurs! Those fellows really know what they are doing. Jon, thanks for taking us along.
Anyone can do it it would just take longer.
That's great that they are able to salvage so much old lumber. Who among us woodworkers wouldn't love to have some of those pieces of wood?
Awesome to watch, thanks for taking us along!

Could’ve watched hours of this kind of footage! Thanks for sharing!!
thanks jon
Love these videos I hope you go back and video the rest
Nice! That was a great seeing them salvage that barn. That was quite a good haul of timbers they were walking away with. Great video Jon!
Nice change of pace Jon. I cant wait to see you guys get together and build a fun project.
Very interesting. Love the video and what these guys do. Real respect for history. I hope they do well.
Fantastic Jon. An area I know nothing about. Deconstruction at that size can be more critical than building I’d imagine. Love the forensics.👍
Fantastic work lads! Can’t find this wood at any lumber yard these days. Good that you are making this available to people to work once again.
Fantastic operation. It’s almost gut-wrenching to think of how many old barns and homes that were made of Chestnut, that were demolished without a second thought, and all the lumber hauled away in dumpsters 🤦♂️
Thankyou so much for sharing this experience. I really enjoyed watching it.

Fantastic to see Jon we never see anything like this in England.
Very cool video watching how they take the barns down. Take Care

:) "It's like Woostock back in the day." I get it wood - stock.
Great video.
luckily Anthony is a big guy Jon, you let him do all the work. ;) that's a tough job but it looks like fun.
Great video 👍!
Another great one Jon, I see your letting the beard grow out fits you well sir.
Great stuff Jon! Thanks for your commitment to great content and good work! Would be honored to have you take a look at our tool belts.
Thank you...I just took a look very nice work!

That's a cute chainsaw. :)
omg that chainsaw is so cute
Great video Jon. Still wish I was able to get up there and help out.

@@JonPetersArtHome That's a good point. I would of most likely just been in the way lol.
Goldmine your lumber is a gold mine

Good Morning Jon,
good vídeo, if you permit me I'd remember you about Tetanus Vaccination. Take care yourself.
Good job.
Tiny chainsaw? ...or maybe a giant of a man (Anthony) ? ...lol
Scary way to take a barn down, I’m surprised they are not tied off to the basket..
I find their lack of safety equipment disturbing.
These guys are lucky the whole barn did not cave in on them. They may know something about old lumber but not enough about demolition. At least some safety gear. The barn was well built so it saved their bacon!
Do ever film in Ontario Canada guys not wearing hardhats safety glasses and fall arrest gear!! Someone will go to jail!
Hi from Ireland, what will be done with the timber after
Flooring and furniture
Cool, great to see old timber been used again, I use where possible reclaimed timber in furniture and other projects,
"We gotta be careful..." That's why I'm not wearing a harness, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
They cut it down and milled up the forest and sold all the lumber to build
no hardhats anywhere? scary

SAFETY FIRST! No hearing protection, no eye protection no hand protection...
I’m a 20 year old self declared expert in the field you’ve been perfecting for 25 years. Mommy tells me I’m a clever boy!
Shame to pull those old buildings down
Interesting video but the dude with the chainsaw not wearing gloves and safety goggles or some type of eye protection is foolish. No, I am not the safety police. Thanks for sharing
It should be illegal to land fill wood..
nice rescue work on the lumber! have enjoy the various videos. excellent display of some good safety (out of danger) technique with the lift.
