    Great video! How come I can’t push down my springs to check this, I’m using an aluminum rod to push with, but it won’t budge, do you have actual springs in or just helper springs ?

    So this would be a more technical or precise method of determining p2v clearance as opposed to claying a motor correct?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  5 років тому +1

      It is a quicker method but do not skip the clay method. The clay method can check the radial clearance of the valve inside the valve pocket of the piston, which is also important.

      An advantage to using a dial indicator vs. clay is being able to more quickly check/compare P2V at various levels of cam advance and retard.

    Great video. Question for u... I understand how u checked the P2V w cams set at EXH 0, INT 0. Do u follow the same measuring procedure at the different cam gear settings to understand how much u can adjust the cam gears?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  5 років тому

      This particular motor happened be cam degreed to be at 0,0 and so P2V was checked at that setting. You will have to check P2V at what ever your motor cam degreed settings are. As to how much cam adjustment limitations, check out my video on V2V clearance.

    I'm confused by the degreeing of cams is this only needed with aftermarket cams and adjustable gears or have you got to do this with stock cams and gears too? Surely they have alignment Mark's like when doing a timing belt you align the timing Mark's?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  5 років тому +1

      Degreeing cams is like fine tuning the synchronization between cams and crankshaft. It is recommended on aftermarket cams and with adjustable cam gears. You are correct, there are timing marks for proper timing sync and do use them for a proper installation. May I suggest you search UA-cam to clarify any confusion you may have in the purpose of cam degreeing.

    do you have a link for the kit you used (cam wheel and three gauges along with metal bar strapped down) to do the degree job

      monutz4u I do not remember where I bought this kit from, but if you search for honda cam degree kit you my find something.

    How do you go about adjusting the cam gears if the center line is to far off? Or there isn't enough piston to valve clearance?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  6 років тому +1

      If your settings are off adjust the cam gear and recheck. If you are maxed on your cam gear settings and the centerlines are still off, possible causes could be timing belt alignment, defective cams, cam gears, and head has been milled. For not having proper piston to valve clearance, use a thicker head gasket.

      So if its of by 1° thats how much you you move the cam gear? And how do you know wich direction you need to move it?

  • @Brock_Landers

    So, I checked my V2V clearance with Skunk 2 Tuner Stage 3 cams and at 0-0 on my gears I had no V2V contact whatsoever. Actually, my feeler gauge set wasn't big enough to measure the clearance.

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  5 років тому +1

      Did you lock the rocker arms so you are only measuring the VTEC lobe?

    Noticed all the other videos on this subject use compressed air to lock vtec. Is this still accurate without locking vtec?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  6 років тому

      VTEC rocker arms are locked mechanically.

    Hi bud, if i just put in my skunk2 pro1s in, do i just set the cam gears to zero and set the crnakpulley to tdc, remove the pulley and put the degree wheel on, is that true tdc?

    • @mawfactor7283
      @mawfactor7283  6 років тому

      Kao Vang, you have to use a dial indicator to find the true tdc and not based on the pulley mark.

  • @luevangalaska

    When doing cam degree, Do you degree the vtec lobe with vtec locked in or you degree the primary lobe?
