Wow! You have the same machine! The 180! I brought my machine out after the virus started and to my horror, it didn’t work. Then I called Bernina and many local ships but one would fix it. They all said it was too old. I cried and cried because I love my machine and also because, even though it was 15 years ago, I paid $1500 for it, used! That’s a lot of money for me, then to find it not working. I don’t know what you do when you need work on your machine. I’d love it if you could share any advice with me, but I was devastated! I’m so grateful that someone finally cared enough and fixed my machine. The man doesn’t work on them anymore but he did for me and I thank God for that. I had to ship it tI New Jersey and it wasn’t cheap but hopefully I’ll have it for a another 15 years. Anyway, great idea with the towels! Can’t wait to make some. And if you answer these posts can you tell me what you think about the sewing machine, the age of it and what you do if yours breaks? I’m pretty sure I can’t afford to ship it for a fix again and it was a one time favor. Also, do you update your machine or not? I have the embroider module and I’m still on #4 version, I never updated the machine or hooked it up to a computer. Just after I bought it, I sewed with it for about a year, then my health kept me from being about to use it again for about 8 years, so the machine sat. Such a sad time. I thought of it every day. So I have no clue if it should be updated or even how to update it. Thanks very much.
oh Cheri, it's awful that the person who sold it to you charged so much!! it was too much. My advice to you NEVER buy a sewing machine without testing it first. never buy a sewing machine with out looking it up to see how old it is? the person who sold it to you would have known it didn't work, they had to know. that's rubbish about repair shops saying it's too old, a repair shop should be able to fix all models wow that's just wrong, are they living in the mountains lol. I bought mine brand new and it has always worked, I am an experienced sewer and had a clothing factory, so i don't usually buy domestic sewing machines. I bought this one just to have a machine at home, its perfect for crafting. If for any reason your machine fails again, scrap it, dump it, there's no point keeping it to remind you of the heart ache it has caused. i suggest you buy another used one from an HONEST seller for $50-$100 they are out there, don't waist your money on this machine anymore (if it fails you) count your losses and move on. No sewing machine is worth this much distress Take care and happy creating :-) ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
Great idea it beats buying bath mats when you often have old towels in your cupboard.. Will be giving this a go for sure, Thanks Donna for the great idea
Hi, I’ve just refurbished my small bathroom. The floor is the “standout point” so only wanted a small bath rug. I’ve made two from hand towels but they slip. Any ideas please?
oh gee, my tiles must be good and grippy bc they don't slip. I'd try the draw and mat grip stuff "anti slip mat" you can get to put under things, and cut a piece a bit smaller than the towel so it doesn't show. don't sew it to it so you can easily dry it and reuse it on a fresh floor mat. let me know how it goes ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
@@JunkJournalideas Cheers Donna. Due to washing, I needed something that could be re-used. I’m unsure if these are available within the UK but Amazon generally supply most items. DIOLCH YN FAWR “Thank you very much” in Welsh 🏴
Nice idea very practical. I'm moving into a new place and buying everything over again. I can go to the thrift store and get old towels and turn them in to bath mats. Such a money saver.
Shawn Staley sorry it’s not as easy as it looks, maybe my towels are thick, they didn’t go thru, under the foot ! There’s go that idea it’s very hard to stich by hand
Everyone on UA-cam, please stop using background music in tutorials. Imagine a classroom where the teacher explains things with annoying background music playing at the same time. Argh.
Background music, especially when quiet and simple like this video, make it pleasant to watch when she pauses her talking. It keeps a constant rhythm and feels more professional.
It's a very graphic tutorial, it doesn't even need the voice so it won't be a problem if you just cancel the sound completely. The other option is easier, find another tutorial.
Hello, can you tell us what type of sewing needle you're using? P.S. I know, I know...But I also don't like any music while, or in between vocal instructions. It annoys the heck out me. Sorry :-)
!! hi Me me !! I have used a normal size fabric needle and a zigzag stich on the longest length. PS i've changed my music style too BTW I dont mind at all that you pointed that out, cheers Donna
!! hi youtubelover !! if you are worried about them being slippery test it first, fold your towel in half and put it on the floor. I use mine on ceramic bathroom non-slip tiles and it doesn't move around (i'd go as far as to say it's non slip) same as any shop bought toweling mat. cheers Donna
