camila Well clearly you are not fluent in English. You may be interested to learn that the Yorkshire accents you heard are probably the closest we now have to the English accent of Shakespeare's time. So while Shakespeare, if he came back, might well be able to understand these girls he certainly would not be able to understand you.

Bridie has an attitude of entitlement that will be her undoing. After getting an independent housing situation and donated necessities, she chooses not to pay the rent, though she has the money. Then comes a three week notice. Her response - "I just didn't pay it". Sometimes it's just ourselves who create the problems we have.

@@dollysinn The wealthiest people that I've known have lived on a budget that is comparable to my household's. And although we do alright for ourselves, we are certainly not wealthy! That's for damned sure! However, we have gone through very hard times, especially when we were very young, far away from family, and too stubborn and too proud to ask for help, or to even accept it when it was offered most of the time. Our mentality was that if our rent and necessary bills (water, electricity, auto insurance) were paid, and we had food to eat, then there was no need to ask our families for help. Especially if we were unable to pay them back. My family is a lot better off financially than my partner's, so we were never even allowed to pay back whatever money they gave us. However, as hard as things were there in out late teens and early twenties, I was proud that when we reached our 30s, I could count on one hand how many times I had had to call home to ask for a little help. Never more than $175. And then only when things beyond our control, such as sickness and two automobile accidents, which were not our fault, made us unable to keep up on those major bills. My reward is hearing my grandparents and mother brag that they had raised me to be independent just like my twelve cousins. Yet of the thirteen of us, i was the only one to leave home at 18, and not ask for loans, or handouts every other week! Worth it!!!!

You don't think it at 17 or 18 but damn do those decisions all add up and make your kids pay for your hot headed decisions.

God, I can totally relate to Shelby. I feel so sorry for her. I was kicked out of the house at 17 because I stayed over a friends house for 2 days. Came back to all my stuff outside the house. When you have to start out young, you don't have anything; skills, experience, or know the ways of the world. But Shelby seems to have a good head on her shoulders and has ambition, not wanting to be on public assistance. Good for her. I wish her the best.

Well, it's often not a matter of being lucky but using common sense and working hard at school to get a good job. A lot of these kids even realise that they were too lazy or simply didn't care enough at school and didn' t listen to adults the way they should have to make a better living, but they often don' t change anyway. So out of "knowing everything better" comes "having no perspective at all". Social welfare does the rest - as you can see when watching their "role model" parents... 🙄

As someone who came from a broken family with parents that has no permanent work, savings nor any property owned, I had to grow up fast. I am the eldest and I know I have to set a good example for my 3 siblings. It was tough because there is no government benefits where I am at. If you don't work, the government won't hand you even a single cent. I'm 31 now with my own family and 3 kids and I can say I live far from where I started as a kid. I worked any job I can get my hands on since I was 16. I've been a nanny, a maid, a liaison etc. I am with a really amazing company now and I'm really thankful for that My best friend on the other hand had more when we were kids but lives poorly now due to bad choices. I have tried helping her with money she needs to get a job and all but she would always find a reason to hold her back. She's older than I am and wants to have kids with her partner who does not also have a permanent job. I kept telling her having a kid would plunge them deeper than where they are but she won't listen. She still wants a child when they can barely feed themselves. I just don't know what to say to her anymore.

Payment bounced, so of course the bank has to give you an NSF fee. It's a cycle that so very, very difficult to break free from, especially if you've started off from a poor household. Doing things "the right way" seems like a cruel joke. Good on Shelby for trying, I see a lot of my younger self in her.

In Asian societies like India, even a poorest man would support its family till the end. Same is done when children grow up and parents get old. Even relatives are important in your life and they help whenever you are in need in every possible way. There's no concept of kicking out children at 18 or asking for rent/utility expenses from your unemployed son/daughter. Parents and children are very much committed to each other throughout their life. I see this love and care totally missing in these so called developed western countries, on social front its very horrible place to live.

What a lot of people miss is that these kids are from poverty as well. It may seem dumb to some people but you really do have to learn to pay bills, take care of your finances, etc. When you are raised in a home that isn't paying their bills or taking care of their finances, you miss out on some important lessons that are going to be very costly to learn when you are on your own. That and starting out in the world with pretty much zero support in case anything goes wrong puts you behind the eight ball right from the beginning. There is a reason it is called "the cycle of poverty" and why people talk about "breaking out" of it. It is difficult to do.

I don’t get it, my family and I came to the USA as new migrants and we all worked together to come out of poverty. In Mexico we had nothing! When we got to California we lived in a one bedroom old apartment and we were a big family. My dad and mother worked in a Nursing planting trees and my older sister had to work and drop out of school. The rest of us 6 children went to school and I was the second one I worked in the fields and went to high school at the same time, we didn’t have to ask the government for anything and my 6 siblings now are professionals. We always went to church together and we never said bad words we are grateful to this country for giving us our legal residency and some of us became naturalized citizens. We worked hard and we were exhausted at the end of the day, it wasn’t easy the US has very strong laws when it comes to working and attending schools. We were homeless 2 times because people ripped us off but good people let us live in their backyard shed in the middle of the 100 degree weather. Being poor doesn’t give you an excuse for breaking the law or doing destructive things. God bless you all.

I'd love to see an update on Bridie, Amber & Shelby. (One with subtitles tho, if that's possible. I missed out on a lot of their personal comments because I couldn't make out what they were saying)
I was so disappointed for Shelby when she didn't get a job offer of fulltime work. She would have been on her way, because she has the self-discipline to stick to a job.
I don't judge these girls--I grew up poor, & poverty is not simply a matter of bad decisions or lack of work ethic. Poverty is a function of STRUCTURAL social factors, as well as personal factors. Family also can have a huge role to play.
I will say that for me, the best decision I made in my young life was to do everything I could to avoid pregnancy. Once you have a child at that age your life is no longer your own, & it's even harder to change your life in positive ways. Being child-free doesn't guarantee you'll no longer live in poverty, but being young & poor with children makes improving your economic situation very difficult.

again - if people with your limited way of thinking grow the internet as of now is in danger because no ads mean no income for the hoster of the websites
and that means they will have to sell us directly for the content they provide just like youtube red.. but it wont be limited to premium content instead it will be a entrance fee for the whole thing.
so please keep this in mind but i honestly dont even think you understand anything in about this

13:29 When the little boy asks if they can get the black mold off the wall and it cuts to the pregnant mom smoking.🤦🏾‍♀️ The irony.

3:07 - girl says...."I actually want to join the army"....I personally think that would be an excellent idea for this girl. It would teach her discipline and give her excellent opportunities and self-respect. If you are poor, it is a great way to change your life. I watched a program run there called "Bad Lads"...they need one for the girls. Signed Canadian Army girl.

Getting in the army isn't as easy as it used to be, especially in the UK
