Russia (and Belarus) will likely be allowed at Milano. They competed at Paris even though they did not receive much on screen time (they were not allowed to participate in events such as the opening/closing ceremony and of course they had stricter policies as to which athletes could compete). As of commenting now the Canadian appeal for bronze has been passed over, but I find myself (a Canadian) getting very emotional when anyone (usually fans) argue in favour of the Canadians getting bronze because the only ppl being vocal about Canada getting bronze are the fans. I feel that Russia deserves the bronze, not Canada. Cause if we take into consideration that Russia still beat Canada, having more points, even when deducting Kamila’ points, just shows that they still deserve at the minimum bronze.
The number of points is the still ongoing discussion. In the team event the teams can sollect upt to 10 points in each of the four categories (ladys, mens, ice dance and pairs). So meaning winner of the ladys short gets 10 point for their team, the runner up 9 points and so on. When you disqualify one person, in this case Kamila Valieva winning both womens short and long progamm you deduct those 20 points from her team. But this should also mean, that the runner up would now be the winner, getting the 10 points. And the former third place is now the runner up getting 9 points. If you do this, Canada would end up with more points than russia and thus should be the winner of the bronze medal. In the first decision giving russia the bronze is only deducting her points without giving the others their deserved points. Which is why canada rightfully conquested that desicion. But in the end we will have to wait for the final official decision of the matter.
i wouldn’t say russian figure skating is losing popularity for good, i think the federation is putting more effort into producing skaters than the showmanship/drama of it all that comes with international rivalry etc. i fully expect a massive PR front when they’re unbanned
Trully. When you live in bigger towns and cities you see billboards with figure skating shows and competitions everywhere, so popularity is growing, especially after Kamila Valieva’s case and how people think it’s unfair

In my opinion regarding the USA women, I think that in the time between now and 2026 someone will take Isabeas spot as top skater but there is so many who have the ability and opportunity. Isabeau is great, however I do think if Mia Kalin, Josephine Lee, Ava Ziegler or Elyce Lin Gracey become more consistent, any of them have the chance to get onto the Olympic team. Amber Glenn maybe, but I would say she would probably be the Olympic alternate. I’m rooting for Mia Kalin because she has so much grace and talent, and she can do a quad. I feel like because Isabeau got bronze at the last nationals she might not be able to stay skating the same or better for two more years when there’s lots of other skaters who are already matching and going above her level. No hate to her at all tho I do hope she gets her Olympic chance. Edit: and I forgot THE ALYSA LUI will be back too. She is my TOP choice for the Olympic team.
I though Kamila was training with Tutberidze for Milano 2026? That's how I read into her content, tutberidzes and also informations of the media? I might me mistaken, but also seeing Sasha training for the olympics is absolutely insane
Sofia Samodelkina and Sofia Muravieva will be invited for sure. Sasha was never on good terms with Aliona Kostornaia so it's extremely unlikely that she will be invited, Sasha wasn't invited to Aliona's wedding after all. I am curious about Anna Shcherbakova as well, they used to be good friends with Sasha but they don't really hang out together since the Olympics
@@sirena3470i’m not sure about Sofia Muravieva because sofia unfollowed both sasha and sofia s and sofia s unfollowed her. supposedly it was over sasha.
0:21-0:33-I think a video on the general toxicity of figure skating would maybe be a multi-part series, at least 2 parts depending on how long you want your long-form videos to be. But for right now, let's just focus on Gracie's story. 📖 5:18-Nathan said he got to celebrate the team gold medal with his family of TEN! 🙌 7:10-Vincent never even got to walk with his teammates during closing ceremonies...😢 I don't know how I feel about who deserves the bronze. ROC still beats Canada by one point for the bronze, even with Kamila's scores removed, and it would be unfair to punish everyone on ROC because of one person, but still, it didn't stop them from letting her compete, and they were willing to withhold medals if she placed in singles. Whatever happens, I still feel a little bad knowing that the bronze medalists won't get the crowd moment that the gold and silver medalists got. 😞
New generations are technically good but they don't have the stardom the previous generations had when they were juniors. The new generations don't fill up arenas with spectators like Zhenya, Alina, Liza, Sasha, Anna, Aliona and Kamila did back in the time even when they were juniors
@@sirena3470Actually they do… You know, girls in our juniors girls made 3A - 3A in the TRAINING and 4S-ou-4S first in the history, so new generations are extremely strong
as much as i love akatyeva and petrosyian, eteri doesnt really have any girls for the olympics right now. sofya and adeliya will be near the expiration date, sofya was injured and can barely do a 3-3, petrosian has lost 4lo, her quads are underrotated all the time and she has eteri technique so will probably be retired. and bazyluk will be 14 and too young for olympics. I feel like zhilina and trusova if she comes back are the only olympic hopes for russia if they are allowed back. especially if zhilina gets more consistent and gets better mentality and artistry as rn shes kinda blank faced.
@@sirena3470 I know. But turning 19 is months away. Both will be 18. Even at the end of the 2025/2026 season they will be 18. Adeliia was barely injured until now and is tiny even after her "growth spurt". I think the age effects her the least.
@@Jelle-bg2rt She had a pretty inconsistent season last season. Lost her 4Lo and 3A. Never had a clean program. wow i didnt know they finally got their medals even though i followed the olympics pretty closely. So happy for them and the way this was handled that they got to have a moment is wonderful.
Making them come all the way to Paris is beautiful symbolically, but let’s be honest, it’s a dumb waste of money and carbon print for something that lasted 10 minutes and which couldn’t even be witnessed by anyone, since you had to pay for the only livestreams available. The ULTIMATE hypocrisy of the US federation and ISU is always making me laugh. They’ve been making a fuss for 2 years and a half because their athletes didn’t receive their medals (which is right, don’t get me wrong), but they keep making the sport the most elitist and inaccessible possible, by making team USA’s moment of glory as unwatchable as the rest of the competitions these years. If you care that much much about your athletes and their results, at least make sure people can actually watch them. I’m French and I was in Paris during the Olympics, and I can assure you that absolutely no one was aware that such an event took place, and it wasn’t broadcasted anywhere.
@@Nunelii I saw in the news it was going to happen. I was traveling and not able to watch live but I searched UA-cam and found it later. @@mountaingirl6479 i don’t know how you could even watch it since in any country, your local broadcaster possesses the tvrights. Unless your broadcaster is totally free you had to pay for the broadcast, I don’t see how the ceremony could have been on UA-cam (if so, it was illegal). I’m not talking about the importance of the moment for the athletes, but for the fans who for most, couldn’t watch it. Good for you if you could see it I don’t know where. But that wasn’t the case for most people, who realized they for example had to subscribe a peacock account and who just closed their laptop in exasperation. I personally don’t care that much about the ceremony itself (as to me, the figure skating team event concept in itself is such a joke and shouldn’t even exist) but I can’t stand ISU and US fed hammering people with it for months and not making sure the stream is gonna be accessible for their fans. This exactly what happens with some ISU competitions that don’t even have an OFFICIAL broadcast (hi cranberry cup), or the poorly streamed CS events you have to pay 30$ for. If the only way for your fans to watch anything related to your sport is fan recorded cams, god I don’t even want to know how downhill the discipline is going in the next years. And then they wonder why their audience is decreasing season after seasons, and the absence of the Russians isn’t even the main cause.
They give everyone brand new medals. there was a similar case a long time ago and the Russians never sent them back. Returning the medals is mostly symbolic.
They weren't assigned to any Grand Prix competitions but I believe they will make a return this season for the European and World championships. They always underline that they haven't retired yet and this is a temporary break. I think they will compete in the next Olympics as well
Isabel might not even make it to the next Olympics. Bradie Tennell and Alysa Liu are back, Amber Glenn is doing well, and Sarah Everhardt is on the rise. That’s not to mention Elyce Lin-Gracie, Ava Marie Ziegler, and Lindsey Thorngren. And please, try to educate yourself about figure skating prior to 2010, because to say that Americans haven’t been dominant in figure skating is absolutely absurd.
My conspiracy theory is that Trusova will compete under Georgia 🇬🇪 and Russia will get a financial kick back from any international awards. I notice Anastasiia Gutanoba who is also a Russian skater turned Georgian, was at Trusova’s wedding 👀 all conspiracy but wouldn’t be the craziest thing because the Russian federation wants people to miss Russian skaters and by competing under a Georgia’s flag they can accomplish that but again just a theory
Knowing that Camilla will be back I would not return if I was Sasha... I'm afraid they would both want to join the Olympics under a neutral flag and will face each other.
Kamila lost pretty much all her technical skills, she struggles with even triple jumps now. Sasha still has her 4Lz. And I don't think Kamila would be granted the neutral athlete status considering how openly she has given support to the Russian Government
Isabeau will not be at the Olympics. Her jump technique will fail her, her choreography is starting to age and other skaters will eventually over take her. I mean she came in 3rd at cranberry cup behind two no name us skaters?!?! Girl please, that free skate … snooze . In the first decision giving russia the bronze is only deducting her points without giving the others their deserved points. Which is why canada rightfully conquested that desicion. But in the end we will have to wait for the final official decision of the matter.
@@yanamed6477 absolutely!!
i wouldn’t say russian figure skating is losing popularity for good, i think the federation is putting more effort into producing skaters than the showmanship/drama of it all that comes with international rivalry etc. i fully expect a massive PR front when they’re unbanned
Trully. When you live in bigger towns and cities you see billboards with figure skating shows and competitions everywhere, so popularity is growing, especially after Kamila Valieva’s case and how people think it’s unfair
ROC is getting the bronze. Canada's appeal was rejected, so Canada stays in fourth. 🙁
Omg trusova comback yessss
Paola your videos are the reason I still keep up with figure skating
Praying for Aliona to switch back to singles. There won't be a better time. However I'm still happy that she's competing at all!
russia is def running out of figure skating stars. even the empress liza has soft retired and they don't really have any "household names" anymore.
Eteri has another batch of girls so .....idk
@@lgt.jne3 but the only consistent one is Adeliia.. and of course Margo, but she is too young

New follower here ... the news of the medal ceremony in Paris set up a little domino effect that led me to your channel. Now I've been binging all of your videos to catch up on the drama I didn't know existed 🤭 Thanks for the content, it's making me super excited for the upcoming winter Olympics!
Commenting for the algorithm so NBC can send you to Milan. 😉
Margarita versus Elena the new Junior rivalry
Welcome back!!! Wish Team Canada won the Team bronze. Sad but it is what it is! Happy to see Team US and Japan receive what was rightfully theirs!
I though Kamila was training with Tutberidze for Milano 2026? That's how I read into her content, tutberidzes and also informations of the media? I might me mistaken, but also seeing Sasha training for the olympics is absolutely insane
Sasha is getting married like in two days what I'm curious about is who is invited.
3A?
Sofia Samodelkina and Sofia Muravieva will be invited for sure. Sasha was never on good terms with Aliona Kostornaia so it's extremely unlikely that she will be invited, Sasha wasn't invited to Aliona's wedding after all. I am curious about Anna Shcherbakova as well, they used to be good friends with Sasha but they don't really hang out together since the Olympics
Same thoughts
@@sirena3470i’m not sure about Sofia Muravieva because sofia unfollowed both sasha and sofia s and sofia s unfollowed her. supposedly it was over sasha.
@@sirena3470 She doesn't speak to Muravieva.. so I highly doubt it

If sasha goes to this olympics, she's gonna win 100%, but she'd need to change his nationality or wait if the russians are able to compete this season
Don't forget Alysa Liu came out of retirement, so Team USA is going to be loaded with talent in 2026!
I'm just dying to know how alysa liu looks at Champs Camp. It's happening right now in Boston. I wish we could get footage. But usfsa is so secretive.
Alysa Liu is a LOCK for bronze. At least over Isabeau lol
Russia is only coming back stronger, you will see.
0:21-0:33-I think a video on the general toxicity of figure skating would maybe be a multi-part series, at least 2 parts depending on how long you want your long-form videos to be. But for right now, let's just focus on Gracie's story. 📖
5:18-Nathan said he got to celebrate the team gold medal with his family of TEN! 🙌
7:10-Vincent never even got to walk with his teammates during closing ceremonies...😢
I don't know how I feel about who deserves the bronze. 😞
You should have a meetup at the 2026 olympics. We can all fangirl together.
"figure skating in russia is losing popularity"?????? Girl, you really need to catch up with the new generations
Я бы тоже не сказала что не популярно)) а сколько с фигурным катанием шоу проходит)))
I don’t hear about the new generation a lot tbh
@@laurelbony Obviously, because they are banned from competing. That’s the thing.
as much as i love akatyeva and petrosyian, eteri doesnt really have any girls for the olympics right now. sofya and adeliya will be near the expiration date, sofya was injured and can barely do a 3-3, petrosian has lost 4lo, her quads are underrotated all the time and she has eteri technique so will probably be retired. and bazyluk will be 14 and too young for olympics. I feel like zhilina and trusova if she comes back are the only olympic hopes for russia if they are allowed back. especially if zhilina gets more consistent and gets better mentality and artistry as rn shes kinda blank faced.
Eteri also has Daria Sadkova, who will just turn 17 before the Olympics. But she only has 4T and is very inconsistent
Adeliia will be 18 y/o and Akatieva is even younger.
@@Jelle-bg2rt Petrosian and Akateva will be almost 19 during 2026 Olympics. Their birthdays are 1 month apart (Petrosian June 2007 Akateva July 2007)
She still won everything since she had no direct competitor, but for Team Tutberidze standards, it's not good to land only one ultra c and fall/step out/underrotate several jumps in programs
Adelia Petrosyan is my favourite! :D (regarding only the "new" scaters) ever since she scated to "voila" and and even lipsing, I fell in love
I believe this medal ceremony was better than anything they would have had in Beijing with the COVID restrictions! So essentially after a long wait this outcome is for the best!
Trusova being back in the Olympics in 2026 would be just amazing! She should have been the one participating in that team event not Valieva!
I still find it bitter that the Russians didn’t got their bronze medals for the team event!
Gracie's book was soooo good. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it for sure!

Girl!!!! Sasha got married!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to the US athletes. Rightful winners. However, the Americans actually benefited from ROC not sending the sample in time., if they had caught this earlier, and Kamila were banned before the Olympics, then ROC would've used Trusova or Anna and won gold anyway.
Yall Sasha just got married what did I wake up to
Canada should absolutely get the bronze!! I can’t believe they wouldn’t go back and correct the scoring errors. They are the true winners!!

Sad Russians were robbed 😢😢😢 Valievas case was so unfair
as a canadian i believe we deserve broze. i am incredibly biased
as an American I think yall deserve bronze too
as a neutral human, I believe Russia still deserves the gold. Other countries cannot come close.
Why do you deserve bronze when even with Kamilas points deducted from the final score Russia still has more than Canada.
What about Margutita!! 13 year old quad queen!!
If Russia will have a spot for 2026 it will be Adeliia. Pretty sure.
Anna was at Sasha's wedding omgggg!!!!?
I wish Anna Shcherbakova would come back she is so awesome! I think she may have moved on tho :/
Sadly I think she might be retired basically but she does do interview I think
hopefully she doesn't follow Alina's path. Alina has gone sideways from national heroine figure skating princess to another russian bimbo plastic influencer.
@@ClaudiaM-f1yTbh, I am really tired of the slut-shaming against Alina. The girl is young, she is having fun and shares with people that she is having fun. What's wrong with that?
Anna has retired because she’s won gold in every figure skating competition there is what’s the point. She’s also had to replace her kneee right after the 2022 Olympics I think her body can’t take it anymore.
I am rooting for Sasha to do amazing on the national circuit, but I really don't want the Russians to be back for the Olympics. As for Team USA, I really think that Alysa Liu has a bigger chance for an Olympic podium than Isabeau does. I am terrified that any day now Isabeau will come down with a terrible injury because her technique is so scary.
Who would have thought that trusova would get married just a day later after this video was posted 💀holy fucking shit (Now she is Ignatova)
wow i didnt know they finally got their medals even though i followed the olympics pretty closely.
Truth nailed 🎯. US Fed and the ISU R FkN useless.@@Nunelii
@@Nunelii I saw in the news it was going to happen. I was traveling and not able to watch live but I searched UA-cam and found it later. It may have just been a few minutes ceremony but a lifetime of training and sacrifice that deserved to be honored! I was in tears I was so happy to see they got what they deserved.

@@sirena3470 that's so true I don't think she's ever compete under any flag other than russia
