More than the hundreds of artists who have recorded his legendary music, I have ALWAYS PREFERRED to hear HIS emotional sexy genuine one of a kind voice... to hear HIM singing with his gorgeous sultry style... a PERFECT FIT that ONLY BACHARACH himself can lend to his own music. NO ONE has ever even come close. I am so profoundly grateful for this video... to have the opportunity to once again hear a performance of the great Bacharach himself so elegantly... so emotionally sing Bacharach/David's masterful, most exquisite composition "Alfie." In my humble opinion, this performance was... BECAUSE OF HIS VOICE... pure perfection.💕

I feel touched by this man's honest emotion through his old, broken voice, expressed with the gentle acceptancing heart that sometimes seems to shine through in in some people, in old age. Heart breathing, beautiful.

Still clearly remember being a senior in high school, and that became a senior in college and later a senior in grad school. Now I'm approaching senior in life school. It's such a fast, short.......and long journey isn't it!

He's one of my fav prolific songwriters, along with Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Rod Temperton, which puts him in really good company. I love his chord progressions better than anyones. He and Stevie Wonder should be elected to a Harmony Hall of Fame for their sophisticated contribution to popular music. This is one of the best music videos I've seen on youtube, if not the best. It doesn't get any more heartfelt. No one else's version can compare and he did it live. His 'touch' with the keys is the best. I wish I had the song memorized. I'd play it everywhere I had the chance.
What a creative artist and sensitive human being. I loved these in the 60's with Dionne and I love Ron Isley as much or more.. Musician that is timeless. Wish I had been in NY to attend this!

Alfie seems to be a carefree guy who hasn't fallen in love and maybe doesn't believe it exists because his heart wasn't involved before and the singer asks him about love and tells him there is true love if he uses his heart to find it. Maybe he's a playboy type?
Love this man...but it must have been frustrating for him to be such a talented musician, yet he couldn't sing very well! I think the same for Diane Warren too...I think deep down, they would be sad they never got to sing the songs they wrote...

I love how he plays the melody on the piano at 4:27-4:30. There's something about it that pierces the heart so deeply. It just flows.
