Omg thank god someone els heard it Jesus Christ I had to take two Aleeve and turn off all the lights my head is pounding and they nvr explode what it’s for or why
I have to wait till March before it’s being shown here in Liverpool but favourite seat has been picked, ticket is booked so now all I have to do is wait patiently... that is a little harder to manage.
@@stacylohan6184 You joke but it was a little weird watching it knowing what was going down in the real world. Though it was the last film I managed to see before the cinemas shut. :)
@@AD98. Yes, I really did. Acting and casting was spot on. Whishaw, Beecham & Fox were great and really interested in seeing what Kit Connor goes on to do as I felt he did a great job, even when the script faltered a little here and there. Didn't realise it was filmed in Liverpool. Nice to see as I live there now. It added an extra touch of unease given the current situation.
I saw this film Q&A with the Austrian director at the Berlin, Fantasy Film Fest last August. Had me very deep in thought especially how the kids reacted to the mother.
Don’t you love when a video is uploaded and people just ask when a different one is coming? No thoughts on the one that’s posted. It’s like being given lunch and just asking when dinner is
I found the writing to be very weak in this film. In a few points it felt like someone was telling you a joke, but was so afraid that you wouldn't understand that they stopped halfway through and just explained the subtext of the joke. They do this a couple of times during the film and its glaringly obvious and frustrating to watch.
Son - What's so special about it? Mum - It makes you happy. Son - Mum, have you been smoking it? Strange how the child, of age to know better, just goes along with this mad idea no questions asked after she says, "It makes you happy".
@@solarispramoedya2441 Thanks for that. The trouble with some high concept movies is that all the fun is in the beginning and middle but then they either end in ridiculousness/cliche/trope or fade into nothing.
The ending was fitting considering the movie's themes but was it cathartic? Not really Terrific score tho. It's almost worth watching for the score alone
@@chrisofnottingham it felt like that when I watched the perfection, the bus scene was incredible but the script trailed off into cringiness by the end of the film. The premise was amazing and it was brilliantly put together but the script really ruined it for me
Is anyone going to talk about the constant high pitched and irritating noise in this entire movie I have an excruciating headache now after watching it
did anyone find the soundtrack SO BAD that it made them feel physically ill? Like it gave me a headache and made me nauseous I had to watch the rest of the film on mute bc I couldn't handle it
this movie was great but at times it was obvious that the screenplay was trying too hard to be tense or creepy, and not in a good self aware sort of way. the suspenseful scenes just seemed very unnatural and jarring
I entered this review with curiosity, I am leaving with heaps of attention. Which at least is a thumb of for the review. Me wishing this film to be as good as I want it to be, very intrigued indeed.
Performances were good, visually it was stunning, and I really like the camera movements. It was unsettling to watch. Narratively it's weak, and like others have said it feels the need to over explain itself. The characters were not believable or sympathetic though I tend to think that this was the point, but it's quite emotionally unengaging. The score is great in parts, but my word, the high pitched squealing noise you can hear when the plants are present just sounded like tinnitus to me and nearly made it unwatchable. Overall it was a frustrating experience that's not completely without merit, but hard to recommend it.
Was this movie supposed to be a comment about social media or something along those lines? That's about all I could get out of it. Execution was lacking regardless.
Everything Kermode says he liked in his review I found incredibly irritating, I was pretty close to walking out but it was raining so being warm but annoyed won out in the end.
Well, Kermode did say that it won't be for everyone, so it depends where your tastes lie. I was riveted from the first frame to the last, although I agree with what another poster said about the script, which could have been sharper. The sound design is outstanding.
I thought the whole genetically engineered plant thing could have been a great side story to a much larger and stranger plot. The visuals and sound design were eerie, but I wanted to see a more surreal and frenetic plot unfold.
Ach … Thought it was exhausting not in a good way. Hints of slow cinema with its dialogue pacing, trying too hard to be too many things. Beautiful shots and colour palette. Noticed the camera movements but didn’t feel they aided the story. Maybe style over substance on the whole - for me. I like the themes Mark talks about but just didn’t do it for me. Feel like you had to ‘want’ to like it. Each to their own. Tough script for the actors. Joe knocking his mum over scene incredibly bad
No climax, utterly boring, nothing is fully explained.. It's actually a teaser movie instead of a thriller.. At some point you won't even care if the plant actually changes people or not.. Would have been better as a Tv series.. It's just a dumb drawn out movie
But I feel that's the point of the film for me, it doesn't matter if the plant is changing people or not. It's more thst everyone is changing in some way or another due to some stimuli but that people are scared and want to blame it all on something they can't understand
I hated awful shrill screeching noise that happened every 5 minutes
Omg thank god someone els heard it Jesus Christ I had to take two Aleeve and turn off all the lights my head is pounding and they nvr explode what it’s for or why
I loved the score.
Was hoping for a different ending, but enjoyed it nonetheless
I came for Little Shop of Horrors reference, and was not disappointed :)
"I don't think you're going to London."
What's that from ? ? ? ?
It's from Village of the Damned (1960)
What film is 'I dont think you're going to go to London' from?
I found it irritating to watch - tense, but not in an exciting way. Very stylish, but it felt superficial and forced to me.

Watched it on hulu and hulu messed up. Can someone briefly tell me how this ended?
The trailer was so creepy. Interesting premise too.
Lovveeed the angles and the colors in this movie. The story dragged a bit for me but I got what it was trying to achieve.

What's a plont?
What's with the weird tension between Mark and Simon in a lot of these reviews? Am I seeing something that's not there?

For me personally it's not decent, but for the characters it's quite satisfactory

You can see it as a metaphor for SSRI's.

The music was a bit annoying but the movie was interesting. Her son's girlfriend is very disrespectful, i can't with kid's like her.

The movie is incredibly slow paced, boring and goes nowhere. the dialogue is plain and empty. 0/5 stars.
