MiceofMischief recommended Zoom which is great for me since my eyes are bad (Cataract Surgery sometime soon) and Stepup (which is great since I have bad carpal tunnel and this lets me play longer before I have to stop). While getting those, I saw the Mod that makes drifters sound more scary. I'm concerned that I keep reading too many mods lead to instability. But I'll probably get some of the mods you recommend like the sort mod.
I think it's great that you want to do a mod for that. 👍 Some stuff that I know from real life, how to heat up a green house. Candles. A few degrees, nothing too crazy, but sometimes helps wonders. Chickens. Yep, you heard that right. The Greenhouse helps the Chicken to stay warm and vice versa, a win-win situation if you will. Compost. Usually dormant during winter, in the Greenhouse it can still process biomatter, and it does create heat while doing so. Large black painted tanks with water. Accumulate the heat from the sun at day, release it at night. Aquaponic, but that's probably a bit too much for just a small mod. Good luck to you, learn how to code and make mods! I hope I can do that too someday.
A "heater" mod would be nice, like a Block which regulates the weather via Block for a room.. It has to be makeable, in debug menu you could Highlight rooms and we have "weather", would it be possible to create a new "biome" in this case greenhouse and the weather for this biome is plantfriendly?
All the mods here on this list are the ones I like to use the most but these 4 caught my attention recently. Butchering, Toolworks, Nats Survival Expanded and Realistic Starvation.
Vintage Story modding experience: "Just one more... just... just one more." >Game update >Hurray, now we get to go through the entire list to see which ones are now broken, half-functioning, obsolete, or outdated. Fr though, it's why I really try to keep it down to mods I know won't fall apart between updates. Bigger mods also tend to have more bugs.
best QoL mods, step up, zoom , better fire pits, and carry on. I use many of the same listed mods, and am one that doesn't like playing without Prim Survival, Expanded Foods and AC
one mod im suprised didnt make it is the quarry mod. like i dont know if one of the other mods had an alt to do it but I like to use stone to build. no mining 6 blocks to get one polished stone is horrible lol so the quarry mod basically makes a huge block that you quarry and use to make a heck ton of polished stone and ect.
In addition to Better Ruins, there is a side mod the same dev made to lower the loot spawns and add in more common loot found normally. IMO that addition didn't break any progression.
Player Corpse mod is rendered obsolete on any server that allows players to use the /tpwp command. "/tpwp you" right after your death will teleport you to your deathpoint (a waypoint named "You died here") - has saved me many times!
does anyone know if there's a simple mod that adds a percentage value to crop growth? if I knew how to code I would make it, because I want to know if my 8/9 Flax are 95% done or 99% done lol
Honestly. I started playing this game a week back and damn. The surface is so extremely boring. BetterRuins makes exploration worth it. For real. And it sucks because i wanted to play mod-less for some time. Guess i lost as I've added a few more that balances and makes the game more fun.
@dracsfantastic Indeed, since 2016. I agree. Early access games have their status which we can agree on that it takes time to add interesting content. But 9 years is uh... long for so little. Same with zomboid. At some point its inexcusable. Thats why mods are such saviours! If there's things I'd hope for. Mods that would add "temporal zones" biome would be pretty cool. Like radiation, that are filled with ruins (such as a city).
The devs make a point of saying how their game is more an engine for people to mod, than a game in and of itself. The different game modes like survival, explorations etc are actually just mods themselves. They state that explicitly. So making it into whatever you want to through modding is exactly what they've made it for :)
What are your favorite mods?
My favourite mod is BetterRuins, it's great! (No bias totally, im just a builder in the mod lol)
Less mods the better imo

@@Und3r7ow You're just objectively wrong. 147+ mods or GTFO.
I wanna learn how to mod so i can make somthing that could heat up greenhouses more so that a winter world still allows for farming.
I have talked about this many times. Maybe a small fire place in a block that you could feed from the outside that would slowly heat the room.
Can you build a greenhouse over hot springs?
@@evanboland1220 if I remember correctly that doesn't do anything, atleast thats what was said when a server i was in was chatting about it

Nice! Adding to my list to check out. Thanks
I think you forgot carry on, that's a must have when you need to carry barrels, and move chests to other places
Yes! I need to try this one as well.

I always try to keep the number down, but one more
i dont mind a lot of mods but i try to keep most small other than maybe 3 or 4
small mods are almost never game breaking after all
There is a firearm mod that works great
Yes on the inventory. If I could code, I would update the inventory mod or make it a bit more robust.
That makes two of us :)
Some kind of terrain generation overhaul is also very nice to have. Vanilla terrain is OK, but has some pretty stupid shenanigans
There are a couple of mod generation mods that are worth a look.

I saw a streamer using zoom this week. So cool. Thanks, going to check them out.
I like teleportation network. It enables be to live in both the temperate and tropical regions simultaneously.
I have seen that mod but never used it. I feel like it would stop me from exploring? I already have a hard enough time leaving the house
Additionally Carryon and Stepup are solid QoL.
both solid mods!
god i want to play this game so bad
You should do it. Amazing time :)
then play it chump

I even waited for its update before jumping into 1.19. Can't play to build or collect stone without it.
Wow! That looks amazing. Added to my list.
@@artiks2715 it looks life changing

Oh right! Nice. Thanks for the comment
kobold mod :3
thats all i need :D

Agreed! Our server doesn't use the commands. So, Player Corpse is a must :)
Please, give a chance to toolworks mod, its very immersive and game changing, you dont need to craft tools on crafring grid anymlre
does anyone know if there's a simple mod that adds a percentage value to crop growth? if I knew how to code I would make it, because I want to know if my 8/9 Flax are 95% done or 99% done lol
Maybe this one? mods.vintagestory.at/extrainfo
@dracsfantastic maybe, I'll give a try, thanks!
is there a mod to change the horrible noise drifters and npc do? I hate that trumpet sound, it disgusts me from the game
Might take a look at this one. Lots of options -mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks
Ty.
:)
I thought "Vintage Story" was a minecraft modpack
That is how it got its start :)
Bullseye is a must
Ranged combat mod. I added it to my list.

Still in early access, I think there is a lot more planned for the exploration side of the game. Yes, BR is awesome!
