- Six Flags Great Adventure unveiled the highly anticipated "The Dark Knight Coaster" on May 15, 2008. The indoor, dark coaster is based on the upcoming summer film "The Dark Knight."
The Dark Coaster features the most world renowned DC Comics characters in an adventure that utilizes storytelling, physical movement, video, sound and special effects to bring guests a one-of-a-kind dark ride thrill. As part of the experience, park guests will see, hear and feel the action of the movie the moment they enter the ride queue line, as they are transformed into citizens of Gotham City - caught in the middle of a city under siege and torn apart by The Joker.
Guests board a Gotham City rail car and careen through six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness, dip into unforeseen danger and continue to be tormented by the Joker as they thrust onto the battlefield of good vs. evil. Will the Dark Knight save them in time?
The attraction also introduces new, customized footage featuring District Attorney Harvey Dent (as portrayed by Aaron Eckhart), produced and shot specifically for The Dark Knight Coaster. The ride also incorporates audio and visual elements from the film which will debut July 18, 2008, offering guests a sneak peak.
The $7.5 million coaster is located in the Movietown section at Six Flags Great Adventure adjacent to Batman The Ride. The height restriction is 42 inches to ride with an adult and 48 inches to ride alone. Guests can receive up-to-the-minute park news and purchase a 2008 season pass online at www.sixflags.com.

Yes, it is. RHPS is my absolute favorite movie, and Wise Up is my favorite song from the movie :) I congratulate you for getting the reference, as not a lot of people get it!!!

Personally, I enjoyed this ride. Sure, it is not the best at the park (Six Flags Great America, that is) but I had a lot of fun on the ride. I loved the "Gotham City Transportation" setup, the "press-conference" before boarding the ride, as well as the design of the cars. I also enjoyed the surprising turns.
This is just my opinion, and I belive that people who enjoyed the ride, such as myself, should not be have their intelligence insulted because they enjoyed an amusement park ride.
pretty cool. at first, when i saw mark kane's face turning because of the video quality, it reminded me of two-face ;)
the scariest part is th fucking line!

My cousin went on this and she said that it is totally not at all worth it. They make it sound like it's the most brilliant ride in the world.
A coaster based on The Killing Joke would've been badass. That would fuck you up.
when we went on this we thought it was gonna be like the under ground and thats all slow and relacing and adventure land but no it was an acual roller coaster! its scared me to death i wasent looking so i didnt no what was coming up

Actually, it's not bad at all. Did they make a mistake comparing it to El Toro and such? Yes. It's not a thrill ride. However, is it fun? Yes, if you're not looking for a hard-core coaster. There were parts that really startled me. There was one part that actually really scared me, both times I went on. The scenery, the effects, the unexpected movements? They work well. Go in with an open mind, and it won't be disappointing.

to sum this ride up. its the ragun cajun without the spinning and its indoors...thats really it.
how high is the drop?

Look up Spongebob Squarepants: Rock Bottom plunge. It's a Gerstlauer Euro-fighter. It packs two inversions (vertical loop and a heartline roll) along with a 61 foot drop at 97 degrees, going 40mph. It cost ONLY $2,500,000 for the coaster. With the Dark Knight Coaster budget, that would leave $5,000,000: the cost it took to build Rolling Thunder. Rock Bottom opened a month before Dark Knight at the Mall of America at Nickelodeon Universe.
Mark Kane failed us.

I'm going in July and was going to go on this but the way it sounds I probably won't waste my time. If Deja Vu were still there that would probably be a better ride to wait for even if it broke down every 10 min.

Those people at the end weren't very convincing. I agree the ride is definitely geared towards families. NOT FOR THRILL SEEKERS.

WHY were people SO SERIOUS about this ride last year? Last August it was at least an hour wait for the ride. Last night, it was a walk-on. Looks like its 15 minutes of fame are up already.
that was some fucking good camera angles, you have to admit, the camera crew has good equipment.

I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes to get on it. lol When the camera took my picture, since it was so dark and the light is so bright it really hurts your eyes.

i dont know what u all r talkin about,
1. They cant put Chiller back up because it had technical problems (thats why they took it down in the first place!) and its being shipped 2 europe.
2. Batman and The Joker appeared many times, but u have 2 ride it twice 2 see them cause the ride is kinda fast 4 u 2 look around.
I give i 2 tumbs way up, but i think peopl thought it would be more like the mummy at u.studios, or dar castle

Removing the Chiller for this was a huge mistake.
A couple of miles? lol. It takes around an hour to get there from chicago. The ride sucks when there is traffic.
I'm glad to see others in accord with my experience today...first time to this Six Flags, and this ride stuck out as, actually, the worst modern roller coaster I've ever ridden.
The design is uninspired, jerky, and above all else, not in the least thrilling. It's certainly not worth the 2 hour wait!
Don't miss Raging Bull, the original Batman or Superman (get the front seats!), but skip this let-down.
If you consider a 10 foot drop big, then yes. lol

I watied half an hour for this ride only because we were waiting to watch a MOVIE. The ride was worse than I thought it would be. On the ride photo, me and my cousins were looking bored and disappointed while others were screaming.

Those who went on it (such as me) can state their opinion as they wish because WE have been on it. Once you get on it, then speak about whether or not it was an awesome ride. P.S. 3:12 to 3:50 looks staged especially at 3:42. The women looked at the ceiling as if to say "omg i cant believe im saying this dumb ****!"
The whole time i was on this i was yelling "What the FUCK is this shit???" "Is this even finished??"

I only had to wait about 45 minutes because I got to the park (Great America--theres one there too)early but, yeah, freakin letdown. To think they replaced Dejavu with that piece of crap.

Its dark in there alright, but they said that we wouldnt be able to see the track or much of anything else. That was a lie, i could see just about everything there because there was still plenty of light in there especially from light effects reflecting light around.
i went there yesterday. waited on line for and hour and a half and it was a horrible ride.
This ride is only worth it if you wait 5-10 minutes

i knew it was absolutely going to suck since i heard it was a mousie coaster. hairpin turns? are you f*cking kidding me? dude. its for kids, noone shouldve thought the ride was actually gonna be good, and lastly its just a themed up version of skull mountain. the chiller wasnt that bad, it was just plagued with technical (and not so technical) difficulties. i guess the dark knight picked up from the suckage that the chiller left behind.

I've only been to Magic Mountain in California once (which is probably the BEST) and this ride looks like it SUCKS. A LOT.
the kid didnt get decapitated from this ride.... and it was all his fault i dont feel bad for it at all him and his friend just went in restricted area and got what he asked for...

im going to ride alot of the rides there, inluding this one, eeven though lots of people said's it sucks.
used my fast pass yesterday to go on this..... it sucked it just makes like some sharp turns and to tell you the truth skull mountain was better and saying that is alot
