Forreal. The ending was just fine to me… didn’t feel like it stepped out of the boundaries the anime set up for itself at all. And it tied a lot of loose ends up nicely. I couldn’t find a reason to complain, even as I was looking for one.

I found the ending beautifully bittersweet. I cry every time I watch it. It might not be the best from a story perspective, but it's absolutely beautiful from a character perspective

Now that I think about it, until the episode where Hiro gets seriously hurt, even if Zero Two was accepted she still had a very bad chemistry with the group because even if Ichigo said they made space for her in the group they never traded her like human: Ichigo and the others never asked about her past life for curiosity for example, Ichigo just was able to bear her and explained her the rules of the house, that was really it. Really would have liked to see their relationship develop in some way.

Yeah. I agree, I freaking LOVE Zero Two, because she's one of the few female leads who breaks a lot of molds for a female lead. Doesn't beat Hiro due to seeing her naked, even though she calls him a pervert, but does so just for a laugh, she's not shy about being affectionate and flirtatious with Hiro, and just teases him while the 13th episode reveals why she has her mannerisms and personality. Not to mention it's very sad and kinda heartbreaking.

Also, I think it should be said that Hiro was the one to tell them about the suits burning away, and didn’t become a pervert like the rest of them, except Mitsuru, yet he’s being given the same treatment/ punishment as the others,
Mitsuru and Hiro are the innocent bystanders who are caught in the crossfire, while Zero two doesn’t care
Kokoro too. Notice it’s the initial couples that didn’t get absorbed in the boy/girl fight.
Zero Two and Hiro were hanging out as usual, and Kokoro and Mitsuru were still meeting up in the garden.
