- The new Marshall STANMORE II Bluetooth Speaker is perhaps the most versatile home speaker there is and in this review, I'll tell you why I got it.
A while back I did a video covering the biggest and loudest home speaker from nonother than Marshall. It’s called Woburn and it’s absolutely breathtaking, especially if you go past the digit 5 on the volume knob.
After my UA-cam review (which talks about the history of the brand by the way) Marshall went ahead and sent me their newest and best-selling speaker called Stanmore II.
It was the perfect time since I found a new spot for the Woburn in my living room and my desk was missing a dedicated speaker. Once I talked with Marshall I got very excited and I just want to thank them and particularly Peter for jumping on board to work with me.
So let’s talk about the Stanmore II and see if it is indeed a respectable and competitive device. It is also good to know where it stacks compared to competition like Apple, Sonos, and Google since the Stanmore also comes in Voice variants, supporting Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. At the end of the video, you'll see a simple Matrix showing how those flagship speakers compare to one another.

@@ThisIsE It certainly looks the part! I do use headphones mainly...but the headphones are no replacement for a good quality sound system of course.
I really do like the materials used here too. Finishes off the wooden cabinet very nicely 👌🏻

Stanmore 3's came out, and I picked em up in brown, been wanting these speakers ever since I saw them at a friends place back in India, It was the Gen 1 Stanmore, and I was amazed at how loud and amazing the room got when we started playing music! Whats EVEN BETTER is that the gen 3 brought back that tactile on/off switch!

@@Louis5warss503 Yes, you can. The app gives your the advanced controls - like switching the source of the audio or the EQ, but you can easily do a standard connection without the app.

Hi, would you say if at the same level of volume on both Stanmore and Woburn, the sound quality is the same? concluding both speakers has same sound quality, but one just produces more volume?

I just got my Stanmore II yesterday and I already love it. One thing I had on my mind though was that since it needs to be plugged in to function, it's sometimes a hustle when you take a break from listening and have to get up to unplug and then again plug in to listen again.
1) Is it safe to leave it plugged in when not in use ?
2) Does that affect the battery (does it even have a battery :D ?) and performance life ?

You should be fine just leaving it plugged in. As most devices have a protection mode when left plugged into power(for example your phone). it won’t harm anything.
He said in the review it has no built-in battery. Do you leave every other electric device plugged in when you are not using them (TV, coffee machine, stereo, etc)? Why would this be any different?
@@OMGWTFLOLSMHI usually unplug everything when not in use. Accept the iron. That hot sumbitch gets it's own bedroom so nobody knocks it over & burns the house down.

Problem is. The app doesn’t recognise my speaker. And I am using IPhone XS MAX. It connects to Bluetooth well and I can play music with my phone. But the APP cannot recognise the speaker.

In all reviews they say under volume 5 Stanmore is muffled. How about the bigger one Woburn, how is the sound around volume 3 region, is it clear, not muffled?
i HAVE several months with the speaker and I love it to listen to it outdoors..and I notice a hiss (kinda distortion sound) when connecting some music device by Rca ..In aux connection dont have that problem.

To be honest I have never tried the Bose, but a lot of people who understand good sound say that Bose is overrated (don’t take my word for it tho).

I’m debating between Stanmore multi room and new Stanmore ii. I like the Stanmore multi rom because they come in the cream color. Is there any notable difference between the two and which would you prefer? Currently the Stanmore multi room is on sale for about $251 on their site vs. Stanmore ii for $199 at Best Buy. Thanks!

Absolutely and I love it as a TV speaker. It’s great for movies too, although you can’t expect audio separation. But, quality and power of sound is amazing
@@ThisIsE It makes me sad :( that the Woburn II doesn't have optical audio IN, and I can't seem to find the original Woburn in my town, and I want it today :P That is a bit strange decision by Marshall to remote optical audio IN in a second-generation speaker.

@@ThisIsE I guess I can but the old version has only one amp where the new one has 2 amps and my Samsung Frame TV has only optical audio out.. I guess I will need to buy also some kind of optical to analog converter to be between the TV and the speaker. And buy the newer speaker

If it’s supposed to fill in the entire 800 sq feet then maybe go for the Woburn. The action has a totally different purpose

is zero. Is there a defect in this piece ?
I had the same experience with mine! It didn’t get nearly as loud as my smaller Bose speaker. I returned it for this reason.

It’s differently tuned. If we talk about sound quality only, it would be hard for me to choose. Maybe the HomePod because of its 360 sound.
What’s better for rap HomePod or Marshall stanmore
Hi Alex, both sound great. The HomePod is omnidirectional while the Stanmore is forward firing only. Also, the Marshall has more connectivity options while the Apple speaker is quite limited. As for rap, both are quite punchy...I guess it depends on your personal needs.
Posted this on your other video about the Wolburn, but watch out for Marshall products. Their power boards have had issues over the past couple of years, which means these products can fail within 24-36 months. Not saying it will happen to everyone, but the 1st gen Marshall products had some issues (which I got to experience firsthand).
Did they ever iron out the issues in their generation 2 products?

I have a DINDIN bluetooth speaker, I really like the sound quality, the lighting, it makes me happy every time I use it, I have had it for a year, and this product deserves more love.

Hello. Thank you for your detailed reviews. Please advise me on choosing between the woburn2 and stanmore2. My usage would be for indoors, around 600 square feet sized room. I am looking for sound clarity over loudness - generally play at low volume but am seeking for maximum clarity at low volumes. Any thoughts on what would work best for my requirement. Thanks.
I’d get the Woburn. It’s a fairly decent size room and the Woburn will fill it better without having the need to raise the volume too much

@@ThisIsE well it doesn't with my brand new Samsung series 7 tv. What is the secret of success? I bought 2 speakers and set them into stereo linked pair. I have now ordered a digital to analog converter and will try the wired route which really negates the reason for buying them.
Contacted Marshall support and they just said I must be using the multi-room or voice versions which have a built-in lag. I am not. They even have aptX which the TV does not. Perhaps yet another add-on of an aptX bluetooth booster might cure it but there is only so much money I want to throw at at a lost cause.
I don’t know what to tell you. I also have Samsung 7 series and it finds the speaker just fine
