Your dad is only half right. Anything is possible with practice and learning, so coaching I agree with. I've been singing for three decades, so talent has nothing to do with it, you just have to do it. :)

They make it look too easy but its not. My dad said that you need a teacher coaching you, a degree, and a talent.
