Preparing For A Day At The Local Farmers Market

- In today's video I show you a peak of what it looks like when we are set up at the local farmers market in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania. I then show you how we get ready for a day at the Scranton Farmers Market.
The much needed rain chased the people away, but the veggies will be glad with it!
Peppers are gorgeous. We live in city so our garden is home depot buckets and grow bags. Peppers were great and cucumbers. It may not be much but it is so good for the soul to tend plants.
Ben the Rockstar definitely rocking that hat. I’m so proud for you that y’all were able to get the new box truck. It’s soooo nice. Another awesome video Logan. Honestly you produce some of the best videos on UA-cam and we appreciate it. I always hate to see them end. As usual Sammi is beautiful and amazing. You two make an awesome couple. I freeze chunks of cantelope when they are perfectly ripe and in season. So many uses for it later. I will add frozen cantelope and make a smoothie in the middle of winter. I have made banana bread plenty of times. I have made banana/cantelope bread and it gives it a really nice taste if you like sweet breads. It's perfect for a dessert or snack anytime. Grab a slice with some fresh real butter and you are in love with home made foods.
I've said before I plant Santa Claus melons. They stay fresh up to 2 months! Around here prepare to pay around $7 for one melon. That's well worth the taste. I've sold melons to folks who saved the seeds and grew their own the following year and I've seen them at farmers markets. that's a decent profit on your return at the farm stores.

Nice looking produce and decent prices, Prices vary here. Sweet corn here going from $4 to $9 a dozen depending on where you go. Used to build those box trucks when I was your age, there's a plant in Morgantown. Decided manufacturing was not for me and became an auto mechanic.

Have you ever tried the picking baskets that you wear on your chest for picking corn? Keeps both hands free to pick and then you just unlatch the bottom to dump

At what point do red bell peppers turn red? Mine were almost eight inches long and six inches across and still green.
They take quite some time, also they need rain and humid weather. So with the drought it is not helping with that. Usually later in the season they turn for us, we should have red peppers within the next week. Hopefully yours turn soon!! Thanks for watching!!

I think a lot of people don't realize how much work goes into growing veggies. Those people should take a look at these video's, perhaps then they would appreciate it more. Here in Belgium you pay twice as much for the sweet paprika and they are not as big!
